pool party time!

hello!
today I have a card up on the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog, and it's all about making cards about where you live!
so fun!

my card is a day, poolside! because, let's face it, in South Carolina, in the summer, you HAVE to be doing something by the water if you're outside!
we spend lots of our summer days cooling off at the pool, and I thought this would be the perfect card to showcase a fun summer day here!

I stamped the images from Pool Party and My Rainbow and then colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
once everything was dry, I added some details with a white gel pen, then die cut them out with their coordinating dies!

I die cut out the pool with the Stitched Pond set, and then ran it through my die cutting machine with the Stitched Ripple Backdrop, to give it some texture!
I also used my craft knife to cut along one of those perforated ripples to make it look like the unicorn was swimming!

I used the Brick Stencil and some Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Ink to create the soft tile area surrounding the pool! the pool itself was ink blended with Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina.

lastly, I die cut the letters using Henry's ABCs from some white cardstock, and then used the Distress Oxide Inks in Fossilzed Amber, Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade to add bright and sunshine-y sentiment!

today I have this fun, bright card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!

I loooooove how the colors of the ombre yarn balls pop!
I couldn't resist using a rainbow inspired color palette for the yarn! lol! I stamped the images from the Newton Unwinds stamp set and then colored in the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. once they were dry, I used a white gel pen to add some details and then die cut them out with the coordinating dies!

I die cut out the sentiment from the Porch Swing Friends Die Set. I actually die cut it out 5 times from black cardstock and glued them all together in a stack.

I place the images all around the sentiment and I love how the bold, bright colors POP against that warm, grey cardstock.
I also couldn't resist adding a few black splatters with ink, too!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #179 - There's No Place Like Home

let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!    

nothing goes together better than summer and Lawn Fawn!

this is such a fun challenge, and I love taking part in it!
I decided to create a beach scene since we go to the beach often in the summer here in South Carolina! anything outside needs water if you don't want to melt in the heat! lol!

I stamped the images from On the Beach, Pool Party, Snow Much Fun and Little Snow Globe: Bear. I colored in all of the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then once they were dry, I added some details with a white gel pen. then I used the coordinating die cuts to die cut them all out. 

 

I altered the Little Snow Globe: Bear image and instead of holding a snow globe, he's holding the beach ball! so fun!

 

I also die cut out the layers of the ocean with the Stitched Wave Borders and Stitched Hillside Borders for the sandy beach. I used Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina for the waves. for the sandy beach, I used Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber. then I splattered some of the same colors and the white acrylic ink on top.

the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto Black Licorice Cardstock and then cut into a strip.

peekaboo kitty scrapbook layout

hello and happy Thursday!
today I have this scrapbook layout up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!

I've been itching to make a scrapbook page for a while! and I thought it would be so fun to make a punny layout about my cat Sedona peeking out from under the covers! lol!

I started by using the packaging technique and Distress Inks in Peackock Feathers and Salvaged Patina. after the watercoloring was dry, I used the 'boo-ya' sentiment from Ghostly Good Times stamp set in the same ink colors to stamp on top of the watercolored areas. I also used the Ghosts Stencil and some white embossing paste to add texture and more ghosts to the layout!

I used 3 different papers from the Black & White Basics Paper Pad to back the photo, along with some white tissue paper and white tulle! I love the addition of the white tissue paper and tulle because it gives the ethereal feel, like the ghosts!

I used a combination of thickers for the sentiment (a play on words with the ghosts, so fun!) and then added lots of various puffy stickers and chipboard stickers from my stash! I also stamped and die cut out the cute little kitty ghost from Ghostly Good Times stamp set and used it as an embellishment, too.

I love using stamps and stencils on my layouts!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #178 - Color Inspiration

happy Monday!
let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!    

there's nothing better than using stencils on a card!! one my favorite things to use!

I think I love color inspirations most!
for my card, instead of making a traditional summer card, I used the colors as an jumping off part!

so fun, right?
I used the super cute Heart Shaker Gift Tag and altered it to create a set of friendship necklaces!! I'm in love!
I used Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry for the outline of the pendants.And I used Saltwater Taffy and Dried Marigold for the inside!
I used the Harold's ABCs set to add the 'BFF' with some heat embossing in white.
I used the Single Natural Cord to mimic the chains for the pendants!

 

for the background, I used the Corner Rainbow Stencils with various blues and teals of Distress Oxide Inks: Uncharted Mariner, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Salvaged Patina
I also couldn't resist adding some gold splatters, too!

I finished by heat embossing a sentiment from Happy Hugs and then die cutting it out with the Stitched Sentiment Banners.
