let's chat

i think my card today is really neat, and i like how it came out!
i used the sketch from retro sketches (super fun!)

i used the paper smooches stamp set, 'perpetual bliss'. i really like that set!
i paper pieced the telephone image and used a super sweet word bubble paper clip to add some unexpected fun! i think that's my favorite part of the card!

the grey part of the card is die cut and popped up for dimension.

overall, the card is pretty simple, but i do like it, and i can't wait to send it to someone and catch up! :)
enjoy!

gnome one like you

there is a paper piecing challenge going on over at the sweet stamp shop's flickr group! you had me at paper piecing!

so i made card that i love! and i also kept in mind one of the challenges going on at moxie fab worldincorporating the Gallon/Quart/Pint lesson in an innovative way! it sounded intimidating to me at first, but it's not! and it's such a fun lesson!
my colors are:
gallon - green
quart - red
pint - blue

i used the stamps from the sweet stamp shop's set, 'gnomies', and of course, i love them! you can't go wrong with gnomes in my book! and this one was made for paper piecing!! love it!

i also paper pieced the mushrooms - but i colored in the dots with my white pen! i drew the paper piecing line with those tiny circles on the mushrooms! ha ha!

i flocked the gnomes beard - he he! and the gnome and the smallest mushroom is popped up for dimension. i even used the new pennant die cute from the sweet stamp shop on this card and flanked them with some different sized button hearts. :)

so that's it! just a bright, happy and cheerful card!
enjoy!

ps - i should also mention...when i showed the card to my husband he said, 'gnome-body likes you!! that's so mean!' i was like, no!! you added the 's' to that word, it's 'gnome-body like you!'!! lol!  sigh. :D

back again!

back again!
this time with a card i made for the runway inspired challenge,

the asymmetry challenge over at moxie fab world, and the 10 minute craft dash challenges!

the 10 minute challenge was hard for me, and i had been trying for a while now to make a card in the time limits, but failing! lol!! this time, i was successful though! :) and you can see why...it's pretty c-a-s.

i used this super fun itty bitty stamp from the unity stamp co! i added some pearls to the card too. you know me! i can't keep a card 100% masculine! and i sort of like the duality of the pearls and manliness of this card! :)

the main part of the card was then popped up and adhered to the base of the card.
crisp, clean, and fun! :)
hope it made you smirk! (i can just imagine that dude from the stamp winking and 'shooting' a pointer finger! :) ha ha!)

ps - my husband wanted me to share that he was the inspiration for this card...lol!!
enjoy!

i love you more

hello!

here's a card i made last night for the most recent challenge at the play date cafe. LOVE the colors! :) i was instantly inspired to use my brand new stamps from the alley way stamps

first of all, let me tell you, i saw this stamp set and ordered it! all within 5 minutes! that's how much i was in love with it! ha ha!! i'm pretty sure i'll be using it again and again! lol!

here's my card:

i paper pieced the little sushi friends - these guys are perfect for paper piecing! :) the word bubbles are from october afternoon, but i used a mashup of the sentiments from the sushi bar set to create the sentiments!

the word bubbles and the sushi friends are all popped up for dimension, which i heart! :)

i'm pretty sure i smiled the whole time i made this card! i just love it! :)
hope it brought a smile to your face too!
enjoy!

sending hugs

today i have a card i made for the challenge over at lawnscaping - making patterned paper with stamps!
challenge accepted! :)

i made this card for my grandpa, so i wanted it to have a bit of a masculine edge. my grandpa can be described in a word as 'dapper', so i had to try to match that! :)

i used a bunch of lawn fawn stamp sets: flying by, on the mend, critters down under, say cheese, plus one and gnome sweet gnome! whew! :) i also used some lawn fawn twine! love!

the stars on the polaroid are from plus one, the dottted waves are two stamps from gnome sweet gnome, and the pattern on the paper airplanes are the leaves from critters down under! :)
the background is also sprayed with a lot glitter mist.

the paper airplanes are popped up for just a little dimension. i punched out some hearts and added them to the paper airplanes. they're also glittered...you know how sometimes you don't know when to stop? ...yeah...me either... :) ha ha!

this card is subtle and to the point, exactly like my grandpa! so i hope when i send it his way, he really does feel like he's getting hugs!

enjoy!

gettin my kraft on

i just got krafty crafty...i just had some fun! :) ha ha!

the latest challenge over at a blog named hero is all about using kraft on a project! and i love the challenge and i love my card!

i also wanted to enter this in the moxie fab focal point challenge!

i made a square-ish card with asymmetrical corners, for starters, so what's not to love about that?!

i used a cloud die cut and then used some washi tape to dress it up like a rainbow! then i popped up the whole cloud for some dimensional fun.

the sentiment and sun image are from the hero arts stamp set, "sky's the limit" (love that set!). i heat embossed them, because i LOVE the way white heat embossed things look on kraft paper, so i couldn't  resist!

then, i even added some distress to the edges with "old paper" distress ink. i told you...i'm all about distress inks right now! i know, i'm like super late to the party, but i'm glad i'm here now!! ha!

so that's it! i hope the card made you smile! that was my goal!
enjoy!

every little thing

i made a card today! it's always a good day when i can get at least a little crafty, right?
and sometime i need to get inky to take my mind off of other things...you know what i mean! i'm sure we've all been there!

anyway, the card i made was inspired by the challenge colors at the play date cafe...seriously. love.

my heart melts just looking at the colors! :)
i think i could make 100 projects with just these colors! that being said, here's my (first??) card: :)

i used my new (well new to me!) stamp from hero arts, sillyscape - love it!
i did some distress ink coloring on the buildings...my first time doing that!!!! i like it way more than i thought! and i want to keep doing more and more! but first...more distress inks! lol! :)

ha! the clouds were cut with a punch, but through some fun washi tape! love! everything is popped up with foam for dimension.
the sentiment is from hero arts/studio calico stamp set - hooray. love the saying! and of course the song is stuck on repeat in my head! :) ha ha!

i added the faux stitching around the edge at the end...it just sort of happened. one minute i was contemplating adding it...and the next minute they were there. so i'm not sure if i'm in love with it, but it's there! :)

hope you got crafty today too!
enjoy!

pun for all

i made a quick card today for the latest designer drafts challenge at the paper smooches sparks challenge blog!

the sketch is fun and all of the inspiration is just amazing! so i got to it!

i used the paper smooches 'squeaky clean' stamp set (love that set!) for this card.

i tried to use some bright and cheery colors (they reminded me of a sunset!) with the exception of one color...i used a little bit of purple since i'm sending this card to a friend of mine who loves purple! but it's no secret i'm not a fan of the color. and you may think that with this little bit of purple, it may have gone unnoticed by me. no, not the case. my war against the color purple rages on. :) ha ha!

so anyway, the vacuum is paper-pieced, and i even added a little glossy accents to the 'light' of it! :)

i added some faux stitching to this card because i felt like it needed a little something else! i would have used my sewing machine and really stitched it, but my beloved sewing machine is out of commission at the moment...something with the tension, and i have to figure out a way to get it going again! it's so sad! ha ha!

so that's it! get your stamps inky and join in the fun! oh, and check out the other cards for this challenge!! your mind will be blown! :)
enjoy!

lovin one layer!

ok so...i may have cheated...! :)
i'm not sure, you be the judge when you see my project for the latest challenge over at lawnscaping: one layer!

it's no secret that i dread one layer cards. i don't have (please read: am scared to try) copics, i love embellishments, and honest, paper piecing is in my blood! lol! so when i came up with this idea for a project, i loved it!!!

and then i finished, and i thought...this could be cheating! lol!

so here is my project - a coloring book for my (soon-to-be) 4 year old little mann!

i made little scenes on each page with, precisely a gazillion lawn fawn stamps! ha ha! (my hands are still have a black tinge to them!)
i added sentiments to help tell the story on each page, and even named them in my head! :)

flamingos and flowers

flying by

what's cookin?

gnome one like you

and rockin out!

here, i even tried masking for the first time! i have NO clue if i did it correctly, but it worked for me!

so that's it. no fancy coloring (like i know people can do SO well, and i'm jealous! honestly! i wish i was that good!! i'm just so intimidated!) but i sort of feel like i created this project with a loop hole!

i hope it made you smile anyway! i know i had fun making it, and that my (almost) birthday will enjoy coloring it up! :)
enjoy!

oh crab

i'm so excited to share this card! i made if for the challenge at young crafters unite: buttons!

i'm so excited because i like how this card came out, and i actually jazzed up the inside too!
here it is:

i used the buttons like bubbles, and echoed that with the circle i punched out. it's supposed to be 'under the sea-y' :) ha ha!

the crab and sentiment are from paper smooches 'chubby chum pals' stamp set. he was just stamped and cut out. i colored in the eyes and the mouth with my white gel pen. LOVE that thing! :)

then...inside...!!! it's my favorite part! because it continues the sentiment from the front of the card, and it's a whole new scene!! ha ha!

say it with me!!!
oh crab, that sucks!! i could totally see myself saying (a version!) of that to my best friends! lol!

i paper pieced the vacuum from the 'squeaky clean' stamp set...perhaps my new favorite image! i used the 'beige' paper strip on the bottom to represent carpet, since most of my carpet is boring beige! lol

i just think this card would be great to send to someone who's having a rough time, and needs some cheering up! :) it makes me giggle!
hope it made you chuckle too!
enjoy!
