geometric cherry blossoms!

hello!
today I have a card up on the Newton's Nook blog and it's so fun and happy!

I love it!
I love the rainbow colors and the pop of black with the floral images!
I started by die cutting a bunch of hexagons with the Hexagons dies. then I used a rainbow variety of Distress Inks and did lots of ink blending! once I was done, I finished by splattering some white acrylic ink on top!

I attached the hexagons to the card front, some were popped up, but only a few.
then I used the image from the Cherry Blossoms and heat embossed them in black onto acetate! so FUN, right?! I love that it lets the pretty rainbow colors shine through, but you also get the bold images of the flowers!

I finished off the card by heat embossing the sentiment from the Heartfelt Butterflies stamp set in white onto black cardstock. then I used the A7 Frames & Banners die set to die cut out the sentiment.

hang ten! over the rainbow!

today I have a card up on the Lawn Fawn blog and I'm so excited to take part in sharing the FUN of this new Over the Rainbow die!

I really had a BLAST making this! it's so easy! and I have SOOOOO many more ideas!!

instead of making an actual rainbow, I made a wave for this little surfer!
I stamped the images from Mermaid for You, Beachy Christmas and On the Beach.
I did some frankenstein-ing and combined the top half of the mer-man with the bottom half of santa! lol!
all of the images were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then die cut out with the coordinating dies!
isn't that little mermaid girl watching on the shore adorable too! ha! I tried to make her scales (?!) sparkle with some details of a white gel pen.

the background was created by using Distress Inks in Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina for the water. then I used Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber for the shore. I splattered the ink colors and white acrylic ink onto the shore to five it the sandy texture. then I used some white gesso paint to add the foamy look to the water.

I did that same background three times: once for the card front, once for the pull tab under the ocean wave and once for the scene under the waves! so fun! and definitely inky!

and speaking of the ocean wave...I die cut out the Over the Rainbow from acetate!!! then I used alcohol ink to add the colors! SOOOOOO fun!! SOOOOOOO unique (I think! ha!).

I legit had so much fun making everything this week!!

I stamped the images from the new Newton's Tape Mix and Puppy's Tape Mix and then colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I added some details with a white gel pen and then die cut them out with the coordinating dies! I love them! they're so sweet and fun!

for the background, I used the Sunscape Stencil and Distress Oxide Inks in Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina. I also used the new Music Notes Stencil and some white embossing paste for some texture!
once it was all dry, I used the new Card Layout 7 Die to die cut it out, and popped up the frame!

the sentiment was heat embossed from the new Party On! stamp set, in white and then die cut out with the banner from the A7 Frames & Banners die set.

big butterfly wishes!

Hi and happy Saturday!
Today I am happy to share this card up on the Lawn Fawn blog featuring some older and brand new products!
And bonus: I even have a video to go along with it!  You can check it out here or on my youtube channel!

I started by stamping the images from A Bug Deal and I Like Big Butterflies. Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color them in.  I added some details with a white gel pen to add some extra whimsy, and then once everything was dry I die cut the images out with their coordinating dies.

I actually stamped all of the butterfly images because I couldn't help myself; they're so cute! Alas, there was 1 of the images that didn't make it on this card, but I'm saving it for another card in the future! Don't worry!

I die cut out the front of the card from white cardstock with the Reveal Wheel die set. Then I used the Woodgrain Stencil and Distress Inks in Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Fossilized Amber.  When I took the stencil off, I used the same colors, but with a little less pressure - and I love that tone-on-tone look!
I also used the same colors for the actual wheel of the card, so it looks similar to the rest of the background.
I used some Mermaid Cardstock with a tiny bit of Distress Inks in Blueprint Sketch and Mermaid Lagoon along the edges, too!

Once  the Reveal Wheel mechanism was created and put together with foam tape, I started to add all of the images to the card.
I love that it looks like the butterflies are frolicking in a forest! So cute!

I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto Black Licorice Cardstock and then die cut it out with the Stitched Sentiment Banner dies.
And to finish off the card, I used Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the tiny arrow along the wheel on the card, too!

rainbows and glitter!

hello and happy wedensday!
today I have this sweet card up on the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!
the current challenge is all about rainbows, so...enter Sam!! ha!

I love this card!
I used the rainbow theme literally, obviously! but I kept the actual colors warm and bright! I wanted to use the rainbows, but in a twist! love how it came out!
I stamped the images from All the Clouds and My Rainbow. I colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then added some details with a white gel pen. I also splattered the cloud images with white acrylic ink! once it was all dry, I used the coordinating dies to die cut them out.

for the background, I used Distress Oxide Inks in Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Saltwater Taffy and Dried Marigold.
the blend is gorgeous!!!! I wanted to echo the colors from the rainbows that I colored, and I LOVE how the background came out.

the sentiment was created by heat embossing the phrases from Unicorn Picnic in white onto Black Licorice Cardstock. once it was cooled, I fussy cut it out and then popped it up with foam tape.
I also finished off the card with a sprinkling of sequin stars! it adds the perfect amount of whimsy!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #214 - Inspired by...Books, Movies and Songs

happy Monday!
let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

it's time for the best challege of the year! lol

this challenge has something for everyone!
and it's always one of my favorite challenges!

this time I was inspired by Zootopia!

I stamped and colored the images from Car Critters, Car Critters Road Trip Add-on, Scootin' By, Treat Cart, Coaster Critters and Critters in the Desert.
I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then added lots of details with a white gel pen. once everything was dry, I used the coordinating dies to die cut them out

for the background, I die cut out the squares and rectangles with the Peekaboo Backdrop. then I did lots of ink blending with Distress Inks in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Mermaid Lagoon.
on the card base, I stamped all of the images from Happy Village and Village Heroes in black and then did some splattering, too!
the rectangles and squares were popped up with foam tape. 

 

 

I heat embossed the sentiment in white after stamping it with Harold's ABCs.

 

lastly, I finished the card by added some stars with the Lots of Stars Background Stencils and white embossing paste.

sweet kitty window scene!

today I have this sweet card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!
I was inspired by my cats, who are obsessed with looking out all of the windows! lol!

I die cut the cat images from black cardstock with the Cat Silhouettes die set. then I added some foam tape to pop them up.
I used the Frames & Tags die set to create the window, and used a grey cardstock for the frame.
I also did some ink blending in the background of the window to create a pretty sunset scene.
I used Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry and Dried Marigold.

for the curtain, I used some woodgrain vellum an the Land Borders die set to die cut it out! it's so perfect! lol! LOVE it!
I used the bow from the Pines & Holly die set, and die cut it out from some warm pink cardstock.
then I used the banner from the Bookmark die set to frame the sentiment, which is from the Cat-itude stamp set and was heat embossed in white onto the black cardstock.

I finished off the card by placing the entire scene on the gorgeous paper from Love & Meows, which just looks so much like wallpaper for this scene!

you're my rainbow on a cloudy day

today I have this happy and encouraging card up on the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

the current challenge is all about rainbows - my favorite!!
I started by stamping and coloring the images from Beary Rainy Day, All the Clouds and My Rainbow. I added lots of details with a white gel pen, and then used the coordinating dies to die cut them out! I already loved making this card because the images are so bright and happy!

I used the aqua cardstock from the Rainbow Pack Cardstock and the green Cilantro cardstock for the scene.
then I used Distress Inks in Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina to add some dimension to the sky.
I used Distress Inks in Pine Needles and Mowed Lawn for the grass!
I die cut out the grass with Stitched Hillside Borders and the Grassy Borders die.
then I used the Rainy Sky Stencil and some white embossing paste to add fun texture and the rain!

part of the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto Black Licorice Cardstock and then cut into banners.
the 'rainbow' part of the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto vellum, and then die cut with the Stitched Sentiment Banners. then I used my markers to color in the letters (on the back of the vellum) in a rainbow pattern.

Celebrating 20 Years of Inspiration by Jenn Shurkus!

i'm SOOOOO excited to be participating in the celebration of 20 years of Inspiration by Jenn Shurkus!

It was almost impossible to pick just ONE card to be inspired by that Jenn has created, I had about 25 cards in mind! lol!
ultimately, I chose this card to create my own version!

it's so FUN and whimsical and I just love the colors!
so here's my version:

I have to admit, I do like's Jenn version way better! but I had a BLAST making mine, and that's what inspiration and making cards is all about, right!?
I stamped and colored the images from You're the Zest and Fangtastic Friends with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I added details with a white gel pen and then die cut them out.

for the background, I used Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks to ink blend. then I used the same colors to add a watercolor layer on top.
once it was all dry, I used white embossing paste and the new Woodgrain Stencil. LOVE the texture it adds.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto black cardstock, and then die cut it out with the Stitched Sentiment Banners.
