second entry, second layout

alright, as promised, here is the other layout i made for the challenge at wee memories this week: all things adorable! so of course, the layout features my son - awww! :)

i also made this layout with the latest guest design team member call going on at paper smooches! :) and i really like how this layout turned out! :) ok, so here it is:

my inspiratin started with the sentiment from paper smooches 'giddy bugs' and the little firefly, bug! since this layout is about the little one's baptism, i thought it would be cute to make the 'baptism' part on a flashlight sort of page. you know, because the sentiment says, 'you make my life brighter' so i thought it fit!

i also paper pieced the little bug and gave him wire antenna's for some fun!

i added some home-made felt embellishments (i'm trying to expand from being 'circles-only' felt embellishments! ha ha!) anyway, i also used some lawn fawn stamps (harold's abc's) for the details, like the Godparents, and the date.

i also used the 'pretty phrases' stamp set from paper smooches and i watermarked them onto the grey cardstock to make a pattern. and then i heat embossed one of them in white to really pop! :)

well, that's my second entry for wee memories, i hope it made you smile and maybe say, 'aww'. :)

enjoy!

a wee paper smooch memory

i love that the challenge this week for wee memories is 'all things adorable' - what's better than that? :) and what could be more adorable than my little guy! well, in my opinion, nothing, but i'll let everyone else have their opinions too! :)

i made two layouts for this challenge (i'll have another post tomorrow with the other layout!), because let's face it, i do find my little mann to be quite adorable! i also used paper smooches stamps for both layouts so i could enter them in the chance to be a may guest designer for paper smooches!! :)

ok, on to the layout! it's all about my little one, and the very first pictures of my husband and i with him! we had just moved to washington state at the time, and didn't know many people, so there isn't a 'new baby' picture of the three of us, but that's ok! we made up for it later! :)

here's another angle - i am still not a master at capturing a good layout photo!

so, i have lots going on here. i bought these wooden clouds at michaels for like 50 cents a piece and i think they work so well on this page, lots of dimension and some different texture. the paper smooches stamps i used are from the set, 'giddy bugs' and 'falling for you'.

i used the stained glass/plaid heart from 'falling for you and totally glitter-fied it. then i used two different sentiments from 'giddy bugs'. i stamped one of the sentiments onto the wooden cloud, and the other one was embossed onto red patterend paper and then popped up. i added some bling (to the sun, mushroom, and sentiment) for fun!

i find it really hard sometimes to scrapbook milestones, because i want to get them just right, and make them perfect! so i put a lot of pressure on myself! which then makes it that much harder to create! it's a vicious cycle!

well, that's my layout, tomorrow will be another one...starring you know who!

enjoy! :)

DeNami Designs Monochromatic Blog Hop

hi there! and welcome to the DeNami Designs Monochromatic Blog Hop! can you believe all of the fabulous creations so far? everything is so inspiring! this is my first time participating in a blog hop, and i'm super excited!

here are a few things to keep in mind:

The blog hop starts on April 10 at 6 AM,PST. However, you have until April 11, 2011, 11:59pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize). denami will be giving away TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop!

you should have arrived from Virginia Larsen's blog - amazing!! if you've stumbled upon this or got lost, head back HERE to the denami designs blog to start over!

anyway, here is my card:

i made this card while i was visiting my best friend in florida! she was an all day crop, and i crop-crashed in for a few hours! danielle (girlracer scrap - also on this blog hop!) was so kind to let me use all of her stuff, since i was just in town for the weekend and didn't bring any supplies with me! i used the fabulous owls from the owl trio stamp set - love them!! they're so adorable! i can't get enough of owls! :)

i stamped (and fussy cut) the owls multiple times and popped up two of them for some dimension! i stamped the sentiment on some wasabi tape and made a few pleats for some added texture! i used some brown and white bakers twine to frame the patterened paper, and i really like that look!

so that's it! now it's time for you to continue on your journey! the next stop is Kimmy Kowalik and you're in for a treat! :)

thanks for stopping by!

enjoy!

got you covered

have you ever tried to craft angry? oh man, let me tell you - it does not work! ha ha!! i actually had 2 hours all to myself earlier this week and i was determined to make the most of it (i was looking forward to it all day!)! however, the world was against my plan and tried to thwart me! anyway, despite me anger (at the time) over silly things, i put my nose to the grindstone and crafted anyway! ...which turned out to be a mistake...ha!

however, when you craft angry, it shows! after attempting two different layouts and multiple tries at this card, i finally finished. it's sort of bittersweet, because my concept was so cute! but i just could not get it right! i'll have to try this card again another day!

moving on! this card is for the latest challenge at lawnscaping - love love love the challenges there! this week was to make your own patterned paper! check!

here it is:

i used the raindrops from lawn fawn's 'plus one' stamp set to make the background (same for the umbrella!). the fire people are of course from 'cozy christmas' - still one of my all time favorite stamp sets! and what a shock! i made one of the fire people a girl! ha ha! oh, and i made the sentiment with 'harold's abc's'. the fire people are popped up for dimension.

i do like the look of the card, i was going for a polaroid feel of the card, like i was capturing a moment in time with these fire people!

well, on to another day and another project!

enjoy!

owl about color

i love that the challenge this week at wee memories is all about color! what fun! and a big congrats to wee memories is in order as well, since this is their 50th challenge! exciting!

well, without any further ado, here is my card! i decided to do the base of the card brown, so that the bright colors would really pop and stand out!

aren't those owls the cutest?! of course they're from lawn fawn - critters in the forest. i just love them! i paper pieced the owls and the log (also from that stamp set) and then made the one owl a girl! love it! i also stamped some hearts from the my silly valentine set with a watermark ink pad on the thought bubble. it's so so subtle, but i like it!

the sentiment was made with harold's abc's and then i popped up the word 'owl' for dimension by stamping it on the heart from lawn fawn's my silly valentine set. i thought it would add that little something that's unexpected!

on a side note, do any of you have a white ink pad that you swear by? it's so hard for me to get a crisp and clean look (on words) when i stamp with white! just thought i'd ask!

anyway, there it is, thanks for stopping by!

enjoy!

a happy celebration

i have been mighty crafty this weekend! and let me tell you, it feels great! i even wish i could have gotten more done! :)

today's card was made in honor kim huges over at paper smooches - who was married on saturday! the design team did a blog hop for her, and i decided to join in on the celebration too! i used the color inspiration from the challenge this week at off the wall craftiness: pink, yellow and green! very spring-y! and since a lot a lot of weddings happen in the spring, i thought it fit!

so here it is:

of course i made my felt circle embellishments, are you sick of those yet?? :) i also embossed the sentiment (paper smooches of course!) and popped it up for some more dimension! i used my circle punch to make the scalloped edges and then added some green ribbon under the felt thing-ys! :)

it's a pretty simple card, but i like it! it's cheery, bright and happy! all the things a marriage should be, right? :)

more posts to come this week!

enjoy!
