eat drink and be merry

i'm so excited about this card for the latest lawnscaping challenge - make it shine!!
and boy, wooo! it's shiny!!

the lawn fawn stamp sets i used are cozy christmas, critters in the snow and harold's abc's. i paper pieced them all onto some velum (i didn't want to take away any of the shine! lol!)  they're also popped up for dimension.

i used some really lovely turquoise glitter paper for the background! i love it so much! it's like the perfect color, not to mention it's glittery!! :) ha ha!

so that's it, it's a fairly simple card, but i just love it! it makes me smile!
hope you caught the smiles too!
enjoy!

merry merry merry

i LOVE the new stamp company on the block - mama elephant! the stamps are AMAZING and so unique!!
so when they announced their first challenge, this past week, i may have actually jumped for jpy! lol!
the challenge is all about color! and what a great color combo it is! complete with glitter! :)

so i made a christmas card - because the colors screamed christmas to me! :)

i used their midnight letters stamp set to create the sentiment. LOVE those alphas!! they are so fun!!
i stamped right onto some american crafts glitter tape!

then i added some wooden star veneers that i made white with my white enamel. and a little glittery, to boot!
so that's it! a nice, simple christmas card for someone special! :)
enjoy!

believing in magic

so i made a quick little christmas card today! my christmas cards have been done and sent for a few weeks now, but i wanted to send a second one to my grandpa! :) (my little ones call him grandpa-grandpa, which i think is hilarious since he's really their great grandpa! ha ha!)

anyway, so i wanted to send another card to my grandpa! hopefully making him smile and think of us! :) and the paper smooches sparks cool shades challenge was the PERFECT jumping off point for me! :)

the colors scream christmas - and that punch of yellow, is just perfect, i think! :) (especially when making a card full of happy!)
i used three paper smooches stamp sets: joyful greetings, chilly chums, and chubby chum pals. ok, are you ready for this? ha ha!!

isn't that the cutest seal ever?! ha ha!! he's totally in believing in the spirit of christmas! i used the antlers from the moose in chubby chum pals to make the reindeer ears. and for the nose, i used these super AWESOME 'adornments' from my favorite things which i colored the bottom of red!! rudolph has to have a red sparkly nose, right? the seal is popped up for some dimensional fun.

and of course i had to hit it with some polka dot green washi! (it's the snow element in this funky christmas card!).

so i hope it made you smile! and i hope it sends lots of cheer and smiles to my grandpa!
enjoy!

keen on neon

today i have a super fab, fun holiday card that i made for the fun challenge at the moxie fab world
keen on neon!
who doesn't love neon?! and who wouldn't be totally stoked to receive a neon christmas card! lol!

i had fun making this card, and it was super fast too!

i used some sweet washi and wood veneers! i used my mister heuy spray to make the stars match the pink washi, and then stamped right onto the washi with my lawn fawn must have stamp set: harold's abc's.

oh yeah! i first used that fun star mask you've seen everywhere to create the background! :)
and the heart i popped up and made glossy! :)

what's not to love! super fun! sure to make any day a little bit merry! i hope, anyway! :)
enjoy!

meowy christmas

i made this christmas card for a friend of mine at work (who helps me get through each day with pictures of kittens and funny stories! lol!)
i am entering it in the current challenge over at young crafters unite - which is all about creating holiday cards!

i used three lawn fawn sets: harold's abc's - critters in the burbs, and bows and holly. and i LOVE how it came out!! i wanted to keep it and just look at it, ha ha!!

i paper-pieced and colored the cats to look (as close as i could get them too!) her little cats! i even did a little tiny bit of coloring to one of them to add the right patches of color! the mistletoe i really DID color all of! and i think it made the card because it's so vibrant! i didn't use copics (i only have 5 of those bad boys! lol!) i also added some stickles to the little berries for some bling, and a teensy, tiny dab of glassy accents to the noses of the kitties!! lol!

the custom sentiment i made is what really brings it all together! lol! i showed it to my husband, and he just rolled his eyes! lol! but it's going to be perfect for my friend!!

hope you are starting out the work week on a good note! i can only hope that this week goes by fast!
enjoy!

ho ho ho!

i love paper smooches. and i love christmas. and i love cameras! so the latest challenge over at paper smooches sparks has been calling out my name!

i was all about the colors and the image! love it!

i used four stamp sets from paper smooches - chubby chum pals, alphadot, perpetual bliss and chilly chums. i paper pieced and colored the images and the penguin and camera are popped up! i also added some glossy accents to the bow tie and the camera lens. for a little extra, added shine!

i also used some washi and wonky layered it all up at the bottom! then i used some twine to ground it all. i love it!

i used the alphadots stamp set to create the sentiment of 'ho ho ho!', which i did because that little fella is pretending to be santa! ha ha!

so that's it!
everyone enjoy your weekend! i'm going to savor every last minute! :)
enjoy!

deck the halls

i sent out 95% of my christmas cards today! it felt good! but i still have a few more stragglers to write and send. and since i was in the spirit, i made another christmas card while i was at it! :)

i was inspired by the current challenge at runway inspired which has this as their inspiration picture:

wacky, right?! i love it! lol!

so i went with the colors, and came up with this completely non-traditional christmas card! and i'm in love with it!
i used two sweet stamp shop stamp sets: tree traditions (which i have been wanting FOREVER) and holiday sentiments! fun!

the car and tree are paper pieced and popped up with foam squares for dimension. and i added glossy accents to the windows and light. the snowflakes and sentiment are heat embossed and i used some fun 'street' washi for the road! i think this is so fun! ha ha! and even sort of masculine! if there is such a thing for a christmas card! :)

so that's it! it's finally friday! and i can't wait to start the weekend! read: sleep! i'm exhausted! lol!
enjoy!

this little light switch of mine

the color challenge over at lawnscaping is super awesome! i really like it! but the DT inspiration is off the charts this week! so amazing!

you had me at teal and kraft and i stayed for the red! lol!!
i've been on a layout kick - so if that's not your bag, sorry!! :(  ha ha! i think making all of my christmas cards burned me out of cards for a while! ha ha! i just need to switch it up for a bit! :)

so anyway, here is my layout:

that little mann...sigh! he discovered he could reach the light switch from his crib when we stay at nana and papa's house! so we always know when he's awake because we can see the light go on and off under the door, and we can hear it 'click' on and 'click' off! lol! (fun fact - completely unrelated to craftiness! that crib is the same crib that my dad and my brother and i slept in as babies - and my grandpa built it! ha ha!)

so ok, the base is lawn fawn brightside paper, of course! :) and i used a mask and some spray mists for the first time! pretty fun! then i used 'say cheese' and colored/paper pieced the camera and polaroids. i also used 'a birdie told me' to layer up the wood veneer word bubble - which was TOO perfect not to use! lol!

and i LOVE that little light switch from 'how delightful', and i tried to show it as on and off! lol! oh, and yes, there's just a hint of layered washi...*whistle* i may have gone a bit overboard there. :)

so that's it! super fun!! and i laugh when i look at it and remember, so that's the best part of a layout in my opinion! :)
it's going to be almost 80 degrees here today!!!!!!!! i thought this was december! ha ha!! i'll never get used to the 'southern' winters!
enjoy!

same long shot, different stamps

i had some impromptu time to myself today - the little menn went to pick out our christmas tree and they decided it would be done better 'no girls allowed'. well alright then. ha!

so with my little surprise free time, i made a card i had been thinking about for a little bit, for the lawn fawn winter 2013 challenge! so, yep! another long shot! but i don't really do these challenges to win, i do them because i just LOVE getting crafty (and lawn fawn!)! lol! so it's win-win for me!

anyway, today i decided to use the 'sunny skies' stamp set. i knew i was going to use some acetate, so i just had to pick the plain cardstock and layout of the card. which was a bit of a challenge since i'm i love paper piecing, but with patterned paper, and at one point i had birds, clouds, kites, suns, just everything on the card! it was a tad busy! lol!

anyway, i pared it down, and this is the end result.

vwa-la! the kite and the small cloud are adhered to the inside of the card, and the sun, big cloud and cloud 'sky line' (?!) are all adhered to the acetate (with the big cloud also popped up for even more dimension - if that's possible!) ha ha!

so i still think it has a lot going on, but i did stop myself a little! i was going to add glitter to the sun, and shading to the clouds and kites...but no! i kept it crisp and clean! executive decision!

so that's that! hopefully this isn't the last my ink has seen of me this weekend! :)
enjoy!

a long shot

well today i'm here with, what i'm calling, a real long shot! :) ha ha!

i have been wanting and wanting to get crafty for the lawn fawn winter 2013 challenge forever!!!! but this week has been a little rough. BUT i was finally struck with an idea, and it was just all i could think about for two days, so i had to make it real! :) instead of a card, i made a layout for the challenge - hence the long shot (among other reasons!!)!
this whole layout is created because of the title - the jackson 5 song. and yes, it's been stuck in my head ALL week now, so if it's now stuck in your head, my apologies!! :)

i created the background of the paper to look like a chalkboard with quinn's abc's. i think that's my favorite part! ha!
the title was made by stamping (more!) quinn's abc's and then i also used chevron backdrops to add a little subtle pattern to the letters. and then i stamped right on some washi with harold's abc's to complete the title! :)

i also used lots of my new tab dies (LOVE them!!) which i adhered to the layout with staples! i thought the tabs and the staples were really 'school-ish', and since this layout is all about preschool, that's what i was aiming for! :)

i actually did some journalling (a rarity for me!) on a tag i created, and that tag + tabs is another part i like about this layout!
oh! forgot to mention, some of the tabs are covered in washi tape for some pattern and variety. i went with a subtle washi pattern - stripes! that's not too bad, right? :)

so that's my longshot entry! i hope to be back after i get crafty this weekend with a few more entries! :) and you should too!
happy friday and enjoy! :)

happy new year

today was the first work day in a long time that i didn't feel like a chicken with my head cut off! ha ha! (it's the busiest season for commercials - black friday, cyber monday, christmas, etc).
and with that said, i was able to create a fun little card for the latest challenge for lawnscaping! :) it's all about tags - something i struggle with! but i really like what i made! he he!

i decided to go for a happy new years card! what?? i know - but i've been making christmas cards since early october and i'm christmas card-ed out! :) i needed a change of scenery, so to speak! :)

and of course the colors are my just my bag baby! LOVE them. he he he!
i used a little birdie told me, harold's abcs and happy everything from lawn fawn! i layered some super fun washi on the base of the card. and the popped up the tag. the bird and the word bubble are also popped up.

(this picture is dark and brooding. lol! it was late when i took the picture! i'm sorry!)

i tried to make the glasses look like those new years glasses with the year on them! lol! i stamped them out and then outlined them in my glitter pen! :) the lenses of the glasses were also enhanced with the glossy accents. i think it's totally fun! and i hope it made you smile! :)

enjoy

a couple of warm wishes

i have a quick post today! it's for a card i made for the latest challenge over at the play date cafe! :)
the colors were muted and beautiful and soft! and i took that went the complete opposite! lol!
oops!!

i amped up everything for this card! the color pallete - TURNED UP. the soft feel - TURNED UP. ha ha!
here it is:

i used paper smooches 'hot concoctions' stamp set for this card! the little heat mists are white heat embossed, and the coffee cups are popped up! i even mirrored the coffee cup so they could 'look' at each other! :) ha ha! they are mr and mrs you know! :)

along with bold, i was going for a sort of 'polaroid' look. i really like how this card turned out! i like that the coffee cups are warm and so are the 'wishes' - insert cheeky eyebrows here! ha ha!

it's monday. it's after a break from work. let's hope we make it through the week! :) lol!
enjoy!

the accidental christmas card

so today i set out to make a birthday card for my mom! (her birthday is tomorrow, whoops!)
instead, i accidentally made two christmas cards!!! ha ha!! does that ever happen to you?!

anyway, by the time i got to the 2nd card i made, i was definitely out of 'birthday' spirit! the christmas spirit was here to stay! lol! so i decided to dive right in and make it using the latest sketch from paper smooches sparks designer drafts!

fun, right?
so here's my card!

i used paper smooches stamps 'forest whimsy' and 'joyful greetings' to create this card! i paper pieced 'santa' and made the rim of his hat sparkly! ooo! ahh!

i just LOVE the paper i used for this card. since i knew i was going to make a santa man, i used this paper that is basically the 'twas the night before christmas' story. LOVE thaT!! and it gets better! you know how that story talks about his belly shaking like a bowlful of jelly...? well i made santa shake! i used an action wobble! ha ha! i crack myself up!

the ribbon is some puffy snowbally ribbon for the trib that  thought was just a perfect touch to this card. :)
back to your (crafty?) weekend!! i have to get back at it and figure out an actual birthday card! lol!
enjoy!

baby come back!

and if you're not already thinking it, here's the song that was stuck in my head the ENTIRE time i made this card:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFbeP6YqHzg

ha ha!! and now it's back in my head! lol! but that's ok - it's fun!
i made this card for the current challenge over at lawnscaping - using something in my stash that i haven't used in a while.

fun!!

i bought the lawn fawn stamp set 'critters down under' the minute it was released! lol!! but i never got it inky! which is so weird, because i think the critters are too cute for words! so i finally got them all inky with this card! :)

ha ha!! isn't it perfect for a house guest that leaves and you want them to stay forever? lol!!
everything is paper pieced. one of the trees, the koala, the boomerang and the heart are all popped up with dimension.
i used the little dotted lines from the 'flying by' stamp set. and of course the custom sentiment is from 'harold's abcs'.

so that's it! i had so much fun making this card! it almost made me forget that i have strep throat and pink eye - on (literally) the busiest week of the year at my job. sigh. you win some, you lose some!

here's to hoping you're all winning some! :)
enjoy!

believe in the magic

today i have a fun little card to share that i made for the current challenge at CAS(E) this sketch! :)
as SOON as i saw the sketch, i knew i what i was going to do! :)
(it helps to be on a christmas card kick!)

here's the sketch:

and here's my card!

i am in love with the birch tree background!! i think it's PERFECT for the holidays! :) i used some red fawn woodgrain washi tape along the top - which is the the best for stamping directly on, by the way! :)
i used paper smooches stamps - the stockings are from 'hang ups' and the sentiment is from 'joyful greetings'. i paper pieced the stockings, and then used my viva pearl pen to make the tops a little extra special.

the stockings were adhered with pop dots, for just a hint of dimension!
i love it! and i hope it made you smile!
enjoy!
