Inky Paws Challenge #32 - Follow Your Arrow!

hi hi hi!

today is the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog!!
this time, it's all about arrows!!

yahoo!!
i decided to create a layout with all of the adorable little arrow dies from the Points and Plumes Dies set released last week! LOOOOOOVE them!

I started by watercoloring a piece of cardstock with Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks! Then i die cut out a bunch of arrows!
Once the arrows were die cut, I wrapped some embroidary thread around them!! LOOOOVE that look! I can't take credit for it though - that's Wilna Furstenberg lift all the way!

I also used some modeling paste and a chevron stencil to add even more texture to the background!

I really love how this layout turned out! And my little Menn playing hockey in old garage is just so sweet! My littlest Mann LOVES dressing up (in ANYTHING) and I couldn't resist snapping a picture when he started to play hockey as Captain Hook! Look out Neverland! Ha!!

Be sure to head over to the Newton's Nook blog where so you can play along for your chance to win some Newton's Nook of your own!!
Enjoy!

Score More Layout

hi!

i have a layout up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!

i used the adorable Newton's Book Club stamp set and added to the patterned paper background!

first i covered the paper with gesso in the area around the photo. once it was dry, i added watercolor by using some water and Distress Inks! i think i used Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass here! and once all *that* was dry, i stamped over the background with a few Newton/book images and also the 'read relax repeat' phrase! i LOVE how it looks over that text background!

i also colored that sweet Newton with glasses reading, becuase it was toooo cute! and so perfect with that photo of my little Mann 'reading up' and 'studying' his hockey skills! ha!! (he was only 2-ish here, so he can't read, but every day in the pick up line, he would read that hockey magazine. it was hilarious!!)

i stamped the date and also used a few different letter stickers to create the fun title!

so that's my layout!
be sure to head over to the Newton's Nook blog to catch up on everything!
enjoy!

i watercolored my 1st card with Distress Markers:

I am not the best 'stay inside the lines' colorer - but this image was so fun to color!! ha!
I fussy cut it out, and then popped it up over that watercolor background i made by using the packaging technique and some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink!

that strip of star washi was too perfect NOT to use! i'm guessing i'm not the only one who stays up WAY to late reading (just ONE more chapter! ha!)

I copic colored the image for my 2nd card, though:

love it! that's right, i colored a giant purple chair!! just look how comfy it look! ha!!

i fussy cut the image out, again, and then added some accents with my white gel pen! (hello polka dotted pj's!!)

Sweet Party Favors

**this is my 2nd post of the day! to see my Newton's Nook Designs Day 3 GIVEAWAY spot, scroll down or click here!**

me again!
today i have a sweet little project up on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog!

These little party favors are super easy to make, too! All I did was pick some of my favorite Sweet Stamp Shop stamp sets and get to work with some pre-made Maze Puzzles that I picked up from Party City for less than a dollar a piece! Score!

I chose to work with the Super Boy, Girl Power and T-Rex Hugs stamp sets!

First, I took apart the puzzles and used the insert to create guides on my paper. Then I stamped the images and colored them with copics!

All that was left was to re-attach the tops and then play!

So that's it! Some easy, fun and unique party favors, ready to go! And you can create this with literally ANY Sweet Stamp Shop stamp set! be sure to head over to the blog to read more about how to make them! :)
enjoy!

so cute!!
i colored the image with copcis and then added some white accents with my white gel pen! it was really easy to fussy cut the image out, because it's literally a rectangle! ha!

i created a matte for the image with some pieces of patterned paper, and then placed that all over my Distress Inked background! I used Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers to create the blues. and then i splattered some water on top to get that water splatter look! so FUN!

for my 2nd card, how could i NOT use that stack of books with Newton on top! he's so cute!

again, I colored all of the image with copics and then fussy cut it out!

i decided to color the books different shades of greys (warm and cool ones) and the added a teeny tiny rainbow effect to them, and i LOOOOOOVE how it looks!!
i added some stars with a stencil and some embossing paste and then splattered a little black ink too!

Newton's Nook Designs May Release - Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set + Coordinating Die

**this is my 2nd post of the day! to see my card for the newest Lawnscaping Challenge, please scroll down or click here!**

here we go!
it's time to start the EPIC Newton's Nook Designs May Release

today, the whole DT is showcasing the super sweet and classic Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set + Coordinating Die!! i love love love this set! You can use this set in so many different ways, for so many different reasons!!
you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on May 20th, right here!

for my 1st project, i created a baby card!

I used some Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers to create a soft blue background. then I stamped the 'twig' wreath in Vintage Photo a few times (rotating the stamp block as I did), to make it look like it could be a nest! :)

the super sweet sentiment was heat embossed in White on top, and then I added some enamel dots in a super fun lime green, like abstract leaves! finally, I added some texture with embossing paste and a striped stencil!

for my second card, I seriously just wanted to have FUN and do some messy watercoloring! :)

I heat embossed the beautiful floral wreath in white and then used my Distress Markers to add color! I scribbled the marker onto my kraft mat, and then picked up the color with a damp water brush to add it to the card front!

I couldn't resist adding a few splatters too...because...me!! another thing I couldn't resist with this beautiful and bright card...the bold, contrasting strip of washi!! I can't stop doing it! lol!
