happy day

today i have a card i made while facetime scrapping with my bestie - danielle at girlracer scrap! :)

it's for the latest 'use what you have challenge' over at the sweet stamp shop! :) i just think that is a fabulous challenge!! i mean, i think all crafters have a little hoarding tendencies by nature, and then time passes, and you get new stuff...lol! anyway, i was super excited to try my hand at it! :)

and guess what i found in my stash...waxy flax!!! i remember thinking at the time, what do you do with this?! but the rainbow colors were too exciting to pass up! i bought these at a local scrapbook store in wichita, ks when we lived there in 2008! ha ha!

the rainbows color scheme is also what really inspired me with my card too:

i wrapped some of the waxy flax around the top of the panel to resemble a rainbow! that was my starting point! then i used my distress inks to watercolor some of the buildings from the 'cityscape' stamp set. i also used the sun from 'sweet spring' and the sentiment was created from the AWESOME, AMAZING, SUPER FUN 'alpha tabs' stamp set from the sweet stamp shop! i just LOVE that stamp set - it looks just like tiny type! the sentiment was popped up and the little sun was tucked behind the rainbow.

then the whole panel was popped up as well!
oh, and those little strips of grass...yeah, NO LIE those are from 2003. i bought a package of jolee's boutique soccer themed stickers to make a scrapbook for my (other) best friend who graduation college and never threw it out! i have kept that strip of grass through 10 years, 6 states and who knows how many scrap supply purges!!  lol! sigh. hoarder. :)
so that's it!
i'm SO excited i was able to play along and LOVING this challenge!
enjoy!

love across the miles

happy valentine's day!
today i have a very 'valentine' card to share! i made it for the current challenge going on over at the pinspired challenge! here's the inspiration photo:

so fun, and sweet, right?! agreed!
so here's my card:

i used the sweet stamp shop's 'across the miles' stamp set. LOVE it. honestly. LOVE.
i heat embossed the 'united states' with white, onto pink grid paper. so fun!!!! then i added some awesome peppermint twine from lawn fawn at the bottom of the card. i used these super awesome cork speech bubbles from pebbles, which i then heat embossed the sentiment onto!

oh!! and i almost forgot - the white paper is dry embossed with a great woodgrain!! who doesn't love white woodgrain! lol!! after adding a sprinkling of enamel dots and wood veneers, the card is complete!

i love it!! and i hope it brings a smile to your face too!
eat something sweet, or at the very least, stamp something sweet today! :)
enjoy!

a little book worm

i just LOVE this set i used from the sweet stamp shop!!
i made this card for the current challenge over at CAS(E) this sketch! i just love that challenge site! i made this card while i was skype-scrapping with my danielle - we try to do it every saturday and it's the best!
so anyway, here's the sketch:

and here's my card!

i paper pieced everything (naturally! lol). the little worm is popped up for dimension and anchored with some AWESOME wood grain washi that i just love! in my mind, she's sitting on top of a book shelf!

then i added some glossy accents to the glasses and the heart antennas! :) easy peasy! i was going for a real light and bright and fun feeling with this card!

it's monday - so good luck with the week everyone! here, well...both little menn are fighting off the sniffles...so...that's fun! :)
enjoy!

you're there, i'm here

so here's the card i made for the latest challenge at the sweet stamp shop! :) this challenge is all about embossing! which, i love to do! :)

i used the stamp set 'across the miles', which is also one of my favorites! i heat embossed the large image onto some new (to me!) abroad paper! i love it because the paper is a map, and i thought, perfect!! :) ha ha!

the states are also popped up, to match the level of the thickers, which i staggered with red hearts! i also used those same red hearts to pin point the locations of us on the map!

the thickers are on some teal washi tape that i staggered this way and that at the bottom of the base - which is just like a corkboard - LOVE!!

so that's it!
hope it made you smile!
enjoy!

xoxo

i made this card for the 2nd weekly challenge over at the sweet stamp shop! the challenge was to be use this album cover for inspiration:

easy!!! LOVE the colors, and love the band - done! :)

i used one of my favorite sweet stamps - sentimental birds! love the birds on a wire!

i heat embossed them onto some super fab teal woodgrain cardstock, he he! then i colored in some of the birds and used some icicle stickles to make them really glitter!

the sentiment was stamped on some coordinating washi tape (hello obsession!), so fun!

i had to make this card for my hubby - our anniversary is in less than two weeks: 7 years! eek! :)

happy thursday - almost friday!
enjoy!

missin you

i was totally thrown off guard with the latest color inspiration from the play date cafe! i was like, psh, no WAY i'm going to come up with something with those colors!! ...and then i made two cards!! :) turns out, i'm sort of a fan of that color combination! :)

the cards i made are a set, same stamps, and slight differences. i used the 'across the miles' stamp set from the sweet stamp shop (LOVE that image. i can't say that enough. LOVE!). and i created the sentiment from lawn fawn's 'quinn's abc's'.

here's the first card:

the image is popped up for dimension, and the heart was glossi-fied.
i cut out the state of Colorado, because that's where the recipient (to be!) of this card lives, and it's 'missing'. he he he.

on the second card, nothing is popped up - what? i know! totally not me. the heart is also glossy. yep, just a bunch of fussy cut stamp images. :) i like it though! :)

like i said - i really had fun making these cards, and stepping out of (what i thought was!) my comfort zone!

enjoy!
