squeeze the day!

hello there!
today I have a card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!
I used the super fresh and fun, Lemon Twist stamp set!

Squeeze the Day Card by Samantha Mann for Newton's Nook Designs, Lemon Twist, Encouragement Card, Distress Oxide Ink, Ink Blending, Paper Piecing, #newtonsnook #newtonsnookdesigns #encouragementcard #cardmaking #distressinks #distressoxide

it's been a while since I've used this set, and it was calling my name! also, I paper pieced the lemons - which I haven't done in a LONG time!! I used to paper piece everything, I feel like! but then I discovered coloring! lol!
I used various yellows and greens from patterned papers in my stash. and then I used Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber and Mowed Lawn to add some shading to the images!
then I splattered some of the yellow color on the lemons for some more texture!

for the background, I did ink blending in Distress Oxide Inks Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet and Milled Lavendar. then I splattered some color and white acrylic ink on top!
I finished off the card by stamping the sentiments in Chipped Sapphire!

be sure to check it out on the Newton's Nook Designs blog, too!
enjoy!

a rare find

hello!

today i have a card up on the Create a Smile Stamps blog
i used the wildly popular Crokisses stamp set!

i wish i had the skills to color flowers and do them justice, but sadly, that's not my strong point! ha!
never fear - i still use the floral images! ha!
be sure to check out the Create a Smile Stamps blog to see how to create this card!
enjoy!

so each of us on the Design Team invited a special party guest to play along with us today!

the theme BIRTHDAY/CELEBRATION (of course!)!!

my special party guest is the amazingly talented Jocelyn Olson!!! (pinch me! you know how guys will say, 'she said YES!' when they are talking about a girlfriend accepting his proposal? yeah, that's about what i shouted when i asked Jocelyn to be my special guest! ha ha!)
Jocelyn's card is AMAZING!! i LOOOOOOOVE the rainbow and all of those monster critters in party hats! ha! adorable!! i would party with those guys all day! :D

be sure to head on over to the Lawnscaping Blog where you can see ALL of the Design Team projects as well as ALL of our special party guest projects.

i tried to channel my inner Jocelyn for my card! she's is literally so AMAZING and inspires me everyday! i LOVE her style - layers, stitching, color! swoon! so that's what i tried to achieve here!

i used the super cool Admit One stamp set from Lawn Fawn! I watercolored the background with warm pinks and yellows from my Peerless Watercolors! (LOOOOOVE them!)
then i stamped the ferris wheel right on top! the little cars on the wheel were fussy cut cut out of patterned paper, and i added a little watercoloring to them as well!

i also fussy cut out the balloons a BUNCH from patterned papers and vellum! then used lots of layers to ground my card base! the only thing i was missing was stitching! which i LOVE on cards...but i just couldn't make it work here. ha! :D oh well!

so yes...that's the happenings today! a card from me and a BONUS, amazing card from the incredibly talented Jocelyn Olson! are you ready to play along?

i thought, why not paper piece this beauties?
it wasn't as bad as i originally thought! they are perfect for paper piecing! i even added some extra detail with a white gel pen!

i LOVE the color combination of mints and cork! hello!! what a FUN take on a holiday card, right? it's a little masculine...a little elegant - so COOL!! :)

for my 2nd card, i went in the opposite direction!

see?
so girly and pretty!
all of the snowflakes were heat embossed in liquid platinum (eeeee!!). then, i used two distress inks (worn lipstick and squeezed lemonade) and squished them onto my craft mat, then spritzed with water and placed my card base face down into the water mess!

so pretty!
i just added the sentiment to a banner in the center of the card, and it was done! i LOVE how it turned out! :) by the way - that sentiment is my favorite ever!! i actually used a set that was released last year - Holiday Wishes!

Newton's Nook Designs November Release - Winter Tails

**this is my 2nd post today - to see my Very Fawny Holiday Week card, scroll down, or click here!**

what an awesome week, this is going to be!

to start, today is the first day of Newton's Nook's November Release!

today, the whole DT is showcasing the new, super FUN and playful, Winter Tails set!! i just LOVE these little critters, caught in the midst of snow agony! ha ha!! they are perfect for scrapbooking your winter memories, doing a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards!! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on November 12th, right here!

ok, here's my first card :

he he he!!
that poor little bunny!! i paper pieced him and the shovel and then added some shading with my copics! then i used this snow marker thing...all you do is color in the area you want to add 'snow' and then heat set it with your heat tool! and then it magically pops up to make the snow! it's awesome! i've had it for years, and i love pulling it out every winter!

i also used the snowflakes from the set to create the blizzardy background by heat embossing them over watercolored background! the background was watercolored with tumbled glass distress ink, and then when i t dried, i flicked some water on top! :)

my second card was also lots of fun to make!

i used distress inks for the sky, but it's actually the inside of the card!! i cut down the front of the card, and put newton on top! I colored the bird and newton with copics and then added some more 'snow' to the front of the card with that awesome bumpy snow border!

when the card opens, it's the sky background, that fades to white towards the bottom of the card! so fun!

you got me love struck

hello!!

happy saturday! i hope everyone is having an awesome day! :)

today i was able to make a few cards - yay! always fun!!
this card was made (last minute, much?! ha ha!) for the paper smooches sparks picture perfect challenge!!

i super, puffy heart LOVE that image!! the flowers are so pretty together, i just LOVE the color palette! and the woodgrain...yes please!!

so for my card, i decided to use the colors and woodgrain, but not flowers...i hope that works still!!

i used the love struck stamp set, and paper pieced the heck right out of those arrows!! ha ha!! i used ALL of the arrows in the set! i really liked how they all went together with the different sized 'feathers' and colors! i don't know how many different papers i used...there's also some pink vellum in there, too!  and course all of the arrows are 'stuck' in the woodgrain! :)

for the sentiment, inlaid the word 'love' from love word die! i also added some picket fence distress glitter, to make it stand out a little more! the second half of the sentiment is also from the love struck stamp set, and it was heat embossed in white, right onto the woodgrain washi! :)

so that's my card!
hope it made you smile!
enjoy!

Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release Day 2

and the holiday fun continues!

welcome to day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release!! and let me tell you...these 5 (yes, 5!!!) sets are incredible! i had so much fun with them, i made two cards for each day this week!!

today's set is called Holiday Hounds, so attention all you dog lovers!! this set is soooooo adorable!! i think 'dachshund through the snow' is literally the best christmas pun ever!!
this set is perfect for scrapbooking your holiday memories, doing a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards!! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on October 17th, right here!

ok, here's my first card:

i totally saw that pup in a stocking and i HAD to make the word 'JOY'! it was too perfect!!
i paper pieced the little fella and then popped up the head and paw for some dimension. i also added the santa hat and some super festive (read: glittery!) thickers to finish the sentiment.

and the background! i heat embossed in clear that little bone image from the set to add a little interest to the card without being too busy! and then i popped up that panel and added some matching green glitter tape  around the middle of the card. fun!

oh, and my second card...i really love it!

i paper pieced the puppy again, and popped him up over some white polka dotten vellum that i die cut into rolling hills. i added a very little bit of the iced spruce distress ink to make the sentiment POP!

the sentiment was heat embossed with silver pearl WOW embossing powder onto the vellum, and finally i added some splatters of perfect pearls to the background! isn't this so sweet!! and of course, it uses my FAVORITE senitment from the set!

you are simply wonderful

hello!
*yawn* i'm TIRED today...and it's only tuesday...i think this may be a long, sleepy week! lol!

well, hopefully the card i'm sharing today will help perk me up, after all, i do love it! :D

i created this card for the current mama elephant and me challenge! it's about paper piecing (my first love!) and thank you cards!

no that's a fun challenge! :)
here's my card:

i love it!
i paper pieced each of those origami birds with three different patterned papers! i just KNEW the origami set would be perfect for this cahllenge! :) then i used the landscape trio creative cuts to create the waves of the water in vellum. I chose three different aqua patterned papers, cut them in  the loose shape of 'rays' and then also die cut those through with the landscape trio die (i wanted to keep the stitching at the top!)

i LOVE that sentiment, it's perfect for thank you cards, and expressing appreciation, i think! it's from the smitten stamp set, one of my favorite sets! i just LOVE the sayings, and that feather on it too! the panel was popped up onto the card base, and then a few sequins sprinkled here and there for a little extra something something! :)

so that's my card!
hope you all have an awesome day! :)
enjoy!

Newton's Nook Designs September Release - Apple Delights

*sniff sniff*
it's the last day of newton's nook's release for september!

the good news is: all of the new sets will be available for purchase on September 19th, here!

today we're sharing the
Apple Delights mini set! it's super sweet and totally makes me think of fall, and apple cider, and mmm, warm donuts! lol!

i decided it would be fun to ppaer piece! i LOVE my copics and watercoloring, but sometimes it's nice to paper piece too, right?

i used white embossing paste onto the white background for the crisp and clean feel, which i thought would go perfectly with the apples!

the sentiment was stamped onto some vellum and that's it! LOVE those caramel colored apples! i want to take take a bite! lol!

my next card is more fall, and warm and makes me wish i could put a sweater on! (it's still in the 90's here, and SUPER humid! so making these cards was a nice escape!)

i created the backtround with hero arts pale tomato and soft sand onto some khaki paper and the smallest of the apple stamps! :) my favorite is that some of the red apples were stamped upside down!
then i used some distress inks on the edges and popped up the apple for extra dimension!

the dark woodgrain banner was added and then i stitched along the edges!

i big sparkly heart you

i am so excited to share this card today!
i really love how it came out! :)

the curtain call is celebrating it's 1st year and the challenge is anything goes!! but they provided this amazing inspiration phot, and i just HAD to use it!!

in honor of all things 1st anniversary...newton's nook also HAD to be used! :) it's a perfect fit!

eek! i just love this!
i used embossing paste and a triangle stencil to create my background. then i stamped the roses and leaves from the love grows stamp set onto some patterened paper, which i jazzed up with some copic shading! :)

the heart and letter U are wood veeners and that i first made white with distress paints, and then once that was dry, added a thick layer of white stickles on top! wait, what? did you just read that right...? stickles? not wink of stella?! lol! well, for this card i really wanted CHUNKY glitter, so stickles called and i answered! :)

a few aqua enamel dots and a strip of aqua triangle-ed washi (to pull in the colors) and it was complete! i really LOVE how this turned out! :)

hope it makes you smile, and best case - gets you inspired!

enjoy!
