happy birthday from hedwig!

hello!
happy wednesday!
today I have this card up on the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog! the current challenge is all about finding inspiration from books, music or movies!
and I couldn't resist this time making a Harry Potter themed card!

so cute, right!
Hedwig is the star and she's bringing a Hogwarts acceptance letter for this birthday card! ha! I love it!
I stamped the images from Special Delivery, Critters in the Forest and Booyah. I colored in the owl and her accessories with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, but then I watercolored the trees! I think the watercoloring added a fun texture to the trees!

I used some Black Licorice Cardstock for the background. then used some white embossing paste and the Lots of Stars Background Stencils to make the night sky. I love that bold look and how the trees POP against the black sky.

I heat embossed the custom Hagrid inspired sentiment with Harold's ABCs in white onto vellum. then I die cut it out with the Stitched Sentiment Banners.

and sooooo versatile!

both of my cards use the new Evergreen Frame Die Set!
my first card also uses the new Merry Christmas Die Set - LOOOOOVE these new sentiment dies!

I die cut out the evergreens two times, and then watercolored with Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Pine Needles. I also watercolored the background in pinks and corals using Picked Raspberry and Dried Marigold. then I splattered some white acrylic ink on top of everything!

the sentiment was die cut in black cardstock, and then layered on top of some vellum! love that subtle look! I also die heat embossed the santa's sleigh image from the adorable Snow Globe Scenes Stamp Set.

 

 

I finished the card by using the white frame to complete the whole scene!

my second card uses the Evergreen Frame Die Set with the new Christmas Word Trio die set!

 

 

again, the beautiful evergreens were die cut from white cardstock, then I used Distress Oxide Inks to add color! I used Pine Needles, Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the trees. for the sky, I used Uncharted Mariner, Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers.

then I used white embossing paste and the Petite Snow Stencil set to add some texture and pops of white! I also added it to the sentiment!

I die cut the snowflakes from the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set and then added the same color as the JOY letters: Picked Raspberry and Dried Marigold.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #180 - Woodland Wonder

happy Monday!
let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!    

there's nothing better than using stencils on a card!! one my favorite things to use!

oh woodland critters are just sooooo cute and sweet!!!
I had so much fun playing with these squirrel images!

so fun, right?
I stamped and colored the images from S'More the Merrier and Let's Go Nuts! I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then die cut them out with the coordinating dies. then I added some details with a white gel pen. I thought it would be so cute to make a scene with these cute squirrels making s'mores!

 

for the background, I did some watercoloring with Distress Inks and the packaging technique with Mowed Lawn. once it was dry, I used Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Pine Needles to ink blend on top! I LOVE ink blending on top of watercolored backgrounds! it really intensifies the vibrancy of the colors.

then I splattered some white acrylic ink and gold ink on the background to mimic stars.
lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto black cardstock.

sending sublime christmas wishes

hi there!
today I have a card up on the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!
the current challenge is all about working on those holiday cards and celebrating Christmas in July!
and I just LOVE using that as an opportunity to get beachy!

I stamped the images from You are Sublime
, Ho-Ho-Holidays
 and Beachy Christmas and then colored them all in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
once they were dry, I added some details with a white gel pen and then die cut them out!

I used the santa hat and beard from Ho-Ho-Holidays and added it to the scuba diver from You are Sublime - and those I fussy cut out and glued to the image! and for fans of Scuba Steve, say hello to Scuba Santa! ha!

   
I also added some Chunky Glitter to the presents, lights on the 'tree' and santa hat!
the sentiment was a combination of phrases from You are Sublime and Beachy Christmas! so fun that the fonts match each other perfectly!
I heat embossed them both on vellum and then die cut them out with the new Stitched Sentiment Banners!

I used Distress Inks and the 'packaging technique' to create the background.
- first I smooshed the ink onto a clear piece of old sticker packaging
- I repeated that processed multiple times with the 3 different colors of Distress Inks (Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salvaged Patina)
- once it was dry, I used the same ink colors and did some ink blending on top (my favorite way to add more vibrancy!)

seashell card set!

hi there!
get your swimsuit on and get ready for the beach, because today I have a card set up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog to share!

I made 5 of these cards and they were not only easy, but SO FUN to make!
I used lots of watercolors and lots of splatters! I was cleaning out my craft room and found some Color Burst watercolor powders that I had forgotten all about!
first I heat embossed the beautiful seashell image from Seashell Roundabout. then I added the watercolor!
basically, you can sprinkle the powder on your card and then add water and it's like EXPLOSION of color. or you can add water first and then sprinkle the color and watch the color magic grow and blend!

I stuck to the cool colors like blues, teals, aquas and purples! but the fun thing about the powders is that some of them have random other powder granules and it adds so much dimension and dynamic color!  
once all of the watercolor was dry, I splattered some white acyrlic ink and gold ink on top! I just love the splatters!

I heat embossed the sentiments in gold onto vellum and then fie cut them all out with the Banner Trio Die Set.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #175 - Summertime Fun

happy Monday!
let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!    

nothing goes together better than summer and Lawn Fawn!

I LOVE making summer themed cards with Lawn Fawn products!
and this time I did a LOT of watercoloring for the background!

 

I stamped the images from Life is Good, Fintastic Friends and On the Beach. then I colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  I also decided to fussy cut out all the images! I just love that little crab on vacation!

for the beach/sandy shore I used Distress Inks in Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber. then I sprinkled some white acrylic ink and the same ink colors to make it look sandy!
the wave was created with watercolors onto the 80lb white cardstock and lots of white acrylic ink! so FUN!

I popped up the sand castles, crab, beach ball, sun and sentiment with foam tape. the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto Black Licorice Cardstock and then the banner was hand cut.
