Lawnscaping Challenge #114 - One Layer

today is a brand new Lawnscaping Challenge! yay!! it's my favorite way to start a monday! it's the only acceptable way to start a monday, if you ask me!

however this time..it's the dreaded ONE LAYER challenge!! eeek!!! i have seen amazing one layer cards before, i know it can be done! and i love them when i see them...but for me...it's the hardest thing!! ack!!
i persevered though, and made this fun, little Christmas card!!

i used watercolor paper for my card base, and stamped and partially masked the sheep so i could stamp the lights on!
those sheeps...i tell you...they're the cutest things ever!! I just love the new Baaah Humbug set so much!

i used Distress Markers and just a kiss of water to watercolor! lol!

i also created the sentiment by combining phrases from Baaah Humbug and Let's Bokeh!

to finish the card, i just used a snowflake stencil and some embossing paste! :)

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

inky paws challenge - one layer

it happened!
the dreaded...ONE LAYER challenge finally came to the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge! I knew it was only a matter of time...ha ha ha! :)

i have SUCH a hard time with one layer cards! but i see other people's and i'm blown away! it's a battle for me, for sure! lol!

anyway, i did manage to create a card for this one layer challenge - and naturally, i used a tiny bit of watercoloring!

what do you think?
i used the CUTE flamingos from Flirty Flamingos! i love those little guys!

i stamped them onto my card front, then added just a TINY bit of watercoloring with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress inks! since it was one layer, i decided they could be two different kinds of pinks!
i created lots of leakage with the watercolor, then flicked lots of drops of color over the card base, too.

the sentiment was stamped with 2nd generation memento black ink all over the background of the card!

so what's your Achilles heel when it comes to card making? clearly - it's currently one layer cards for me! :)
but i hope you play along - please inspire me with your awesome one layers!! :D
enjoy!

lawnscaping challenge - one layer...wonderful!

well, it's monday...and a BRAND NEW month, to boot!
and what makes this day even MORE special...it's a new Lawnscaping Challenge
yahoo!!

this time, it's all about...the dreaded...the feared...the impossible...ONE LAYER CARD!

ok, maybe that just describes MY feelings toward one layer cards - essecially, they TERRIFY me! lol! i LOVE looking at other people create one layer cards...but me? oh no. i just can NOT execute! lol!

alas, i do have a card to share:

i used the NEW joy to the woods stamp set from lawn fawn! ACK - this new release, LOVING it all!! :) ha ha!
ok, back to the card, i stamped the tiny, funky diamonds in a rainbow of distress inks and then filled in the color VERY carefully by using the ink pads, some water and watercoloring the color in.

the sentiment - that was FUN! i used the scripty hello die to create a 'mask' or stencil, of the word 'hello'. then i squished my versamark ink pad on top and sprinkled some lovely silver embossing powder on top! isn't that fun?! yep, i liked how it turned out!

so that's my one layer card! my fingers literally STILL ITCH to add more...wood veneers, enamel dots, sequins, SOMETHING to add some dimension to the card - help! lol!

ok, so now it's your turn! :) i really hope you join in on the fun with this challenge!!

lawnscaping challenge - one layer

it's the first monday of the month! that means it's time for a brand new lawnscaping challenge
this time, it's about one layer, people! eek!

one layers are hard for me! i can't lie! i'm all about layers and washi and enamel dots and paper piecing! none of which fly with one layer! lol! but i do like the card i came up with for this challenge!

the lawn fawn stamp sets i used this time were alphabets only! quinn's abc's and harold's abc's! :)
and then all i did was color directly onto the tip of my inktense watercolor pencils with my water brush and 'swoosh' it across the card! pretty easy, actually!
i also colored my waterbrush with the grey watercolor pencil and flicked some splatters onto the card...i said messy, so i had to emphasize that! :)

so that's my card! what can you do? i'm dying to see more one layer cards! they're so hard for me, but so lovely to gaze at (by others!).

for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)
so, enjoy!

lovin one layer!

ok so...i may have cheated...! :)
i'm not sure, you be the judge when you see my project for the latest challenge over at lawnscaping: one layer!

it's no secret that i dread one layer cards. i don't have (please read: am scared to try) copics, i love embellishments, and honest, paper piecing is in my blood! lol! so when i came up with this idea for a project, i loved it!!!

and then i finished, and i thought...this could be cheating! lol!

so here is my project - a coloring book for my (soon-to-be) 4 year old little mann!

i made little scenes on each page with, precisely a gazillion lawn fawn stamps! ha ha! (my hands are still have a black tinge to them!)
i added sentiments to help tell the story on each page, and even named them in my head! :)

flamingos and flowers

what's cookin?

gnome one like you

and rockin out!

here, i even tried masking for the first time! i have NO clue if i did it correctly, but it worked for me!

so that's it. no fancy coloring (like i know people can do SO well, and i'm jealous! honestly! i wish i was that good!! i'm just so intimidated!) but i sort of feel like i created this project with a loop hole!

i hope it made you smile anyway! i know i had fun making it, and that my (almost) birthday will enjoy coloring it up! :)
enjoy!
