this may be one of my all time favorite color combinations! yellow and grey and pinks!! awesome! love it! way to go embellish magazine team! :)

so all i had to do was make a card with awesome colors, and then make it happy! check!! :)

i definitely had fun making this card! 

i got to ink up a new lawn fawn set that i have had since the release, but not used yet!

the images are from lawn fawn's 'sunny skies' stamp set! they're all paper pieced goodies! i couldn't resist piecing together houndstooth and polka dots! lol!

one of the clouds and the kite are popped up, i can't resist a call for some dimension!

the sentiment is from paper smooches' stamp set, 'simply said' - which was heat embossed!

i hope you enjoy it, and i hope it made you smile - that was the point, after all! :)

love life

i made the card below for the latest embellish magazine challenge because well...check out the inspiration photo. sigh. i could look at that all day!

i just love the softness of the photo, so i tried to recreate that with my card. i used lawn fawn paper and stamps for the card! i just love that chevron paper, and it's perfect because it's totally soft!

i made the felt rossettes and then added some teal drops! i thought it was like rain, or dew on the flowers!

i stamped the sentiment on some scrap fabric i had laying around! and guess what? lawn fawn stamps wonderfully on fabric!

hope this card sends clear skies and calm feelings your way!

more than half full

i did it! i was actually able to get some craft-time in! ...granted it was at 9pm...but that's just details!! ha ha!

i made this card for two challenges the embellish magazine's latest challenge and the wee memories challenge (live, laugh and love)!

this idea hit me today while i started work, and i don't know how! honestly i was just half-heartedly (no pun intended) dooding on my work notebook, and then all of sudden, i had sketched this card! and i knew i just had to make it right away! between the colors at embellish magazine's challenge, and the theme at wee memories...well, it was really a no-brainer!

of course the stamp is lawn fawn (the cozy christmas stamp set) and i popped it up for some dimension! i used some rub-on's that i had and leftover pink stickers from an old scrapbook i made for a friend one time! i love using scraps!

it's really a simple card, but i think it's just great! i showed it to my husband, and he said, 'cute'. totally straight-faced. well, i can't win them all! :) ha ha!

embellish magazine - vintage challenge

i've had this card done for a while, but because of one reason or another, i'm just able to post it now! i hate when that happens! :) ha ha!

i made this card for the most recent embellish magazine challenge. the colors were yellow, green and rust, and the card had to be made in a vintage style. vintage style is sooo pretty when it's done right, but it's totally not my style. i definately went out of my comfrot zone. but that's ok every once in a while, right?

and here's my card:

i used some vintage-y inspired patterned paper for the background of the card. and then i used some kraft cardstock for the sentiment (which is popped up for dimension). i love the feathers! i try to use feathers when i can in cards, because it's unexpected, but feathers are a hard medium to work with! so i am not always successful. in the case though, i think it works! something about feathers says vintage to me.

oh, and something about feathers, says 'snack' to my cat (phoenix) - because right after i took the pictures of my card, he started attacking it and trying to eat the feathers... lovely. that's pretty much phoenix in a nutshell! :) it's just a good thing there weren't any loose strings hanging from the card...

feelin felty

i'm really getting to town with my christmas cards - it's so exciting! anyway, here's my latest card, which is for the most recent challenge at embellish magazine:

the colors are pink, brown, yellow and red, and you had to incorporate some felt into the card! i love it! i had a lot of ideas, but settled on this one with the snowmen!

the white snowman is felt (naturally) and then i used some found buttons to create the two little snowmen! i think the googly eyes and hand cutout nose make the snowman look quirky! but i like it! i also distressed the sentiment with my white ink pad, so it would look, 'snow covered'. oh, that reminds me, the sentiment is also seated on some dark brown felt. :)

anyway, just a quick post! is it starting to get cool by you? it's still warm here (low 80's most days), but i know it's getting cold up north - and if it is, i hope this card makes you feel right at home! :) ha ha!

another embellish entry

i don't know what's up with me making double entries for some challenges, but this idea just came to me, and i had to make it! it's for the embellish magazine challenge - background stamping and color challenge. here's a reminder of the colors:

and here's my cute little card!

i used the versamark watermark stamp pad to create the background design. and then i stamped the 'socks' out onto yellow patterned paper and then embellished them with my white pen and black pen. the socks and the sentiment are also popped (of course!), and i wanted the socks to look like they were on some kind of clothes line (held up with some gray brads).

the bottom of the card is some black satin ribbon, and then i used my hero arts tiny litters to create the sentiment. oh, and duh, the 'socks' are actually the stockings from the cozy christmas stamp set from lawn fawn.

here was the thinking behind my card: with all the different socks in the 'watermarked' background, this perfect pair found each other and are in love - even though they don't match. and then i used uppercase and lowercase lettes for the sentiment to emulate that same message! because well, sometimes love is quirky! :)

even elephants embellish off the wall

brace yourselves, i actually made a card with no owls or trees! ha ha! i know, those are few and far between. but don't worry, i made up for that with lots of little, tiny hearts! why have those become a staple of mine? i have no clue, but i can't seem to hide from them!

not only that! - but this post is a two-for! two challenges/two different cards in one post. oh yeah, i told you to brace yourself! :)

the first card is the non-owl/tree card referred to is for the latest embellish magazine color challenge: use the colors below (yellow, gray, black and white) and a stamped background. so here we go!

little baby elephants are just so cute! and i thought these non-traditional baby colors would be a great compliment to a new baby card! i masked the hearts on the background of the paper (through a punched out heart on scrap paper!).

the elephant was stamped twice and then i popped up the ears and added a little bling eye for fun! to add to the fun, i also glimmer mist-ed the elephant! the sentiment was created with thickers, and i just added the punched out hearts randomly to them, i LOVE how that turned out. i think it's my favorite part of the card!

the next card is for off the wall craftiness! i love those color challenges! below are the inspiration colors for this week:

and here's my card! just a nutty little birthday card! i added some browns to the card, forgive me! but the squirrel and acorns had to be brown-y. :)

the acorns were stamped twice on the two afore mentioned browns, and then one layer was popped up. i also popped up the balloons and the sentiment - for which i used the hero arts stamps.

paper piecing with embellish magazine

i have been wanting and wanting to make a card for the latest embellish magazine challenge for a while, but i just wasn't loving any of the ideas i had come up with. i finally went with the layout below, and turns out, i like it! :)

the challenge this week at embellish magazine was to use paper piecing with the colors below (yellow, kraft, lt green and dk green):

usually when i use muted colors, i like to add a pop of a bright color for major contrast, but alas, i was able to resist (there are no tiny hearts either!). i have really been liking birds lately, and so when i saw some cardstock that had birdhouses on it, i was instantly inspired to use birdhouses for this card!

i cut the birdhouses by hand with various colors of cardstock and pieced them together! the buttons were lent to me by Danielle at Girl RacerScrap for the openings on the birdhouses, and they saved the card if you ask me! :) the sentiment is from hero arts, and the little birds are from lawn fawn. i love lawn fawn stamps! have you used them? if not, what are you waiting for?! :) ha ha!

embellish magazine challenge

i'm so excited about this card! i made it for the embellish magazine color challenge using squares. check it out:

first of all, what's not to love about this color combination? it's fantastic! i love the added idea of using squares. i had some other ideas for creating my card, but went this way instead! either way, i knew i was going to start off with a square-shaped card.

so, i cut out teeny tiny squares in various purple and green cardstock (the purple squares are larger than the green squares). and then i created a mosaic tree with the colors! i tried to also create a fading effect by going dark to light (fromt he top to the bottom) with the green, and then light to dark with the purple (f that makes sense!) it was a little teedious cutting out all of the little squares, and glueing them down one-by-one, but it was easy, ha!

then i layered some ribbon on the card as well. i used the same technique i did before; glueing the white ribbon to the black ribbon, so it looks two-sided. can i ask why i haven't seen double-sided ribbon in the stores? it's so fun! in the meantime, i'll just keep making my own!

i also decided to add a little rub on bird on top of the tree. i think the mosaic tree definately needed a little birdie (the only thing this card is missing is my signature little, tiny hearts!).
