Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Love Grows

it's the middle of the month! that means - release time for newton's nook!! and it's an AMAZING release!! i can't wait for you to see everything!

today's set is called Love Grows, and it's brilliant!! this is an AMAZING set! perfect for tags, layouts, cards, anything! and the best news is, all of the sets will be available for purchase april 18th here! :)

first up, is perhaps my favorite set of the release (but that's so hard to say! lol!! the others are so AWESOME! i'm telling you!!)

i couldn't stop making cards with this set!!

first up, i paper pieced the large flower image in an ombre of pink papers and two different greens for the leaves!

the sentiment was then heat embossed onto a vellum banner that i attached with my sewing machine. a few pearls and a totally b&w graphic background and it's done!

i just LOVE that card!!

my 2nd card is my favorite!!

first i mixed together distress paint (picked raspberry and squeezed lemonade) and lots of water onto some white cardstock. once all of the colors had mixed and blended and played together a little (ha!), i used stazon ink to stamp the little flower image a bunch all over it.

then i cut out all of the flowers and arranged them and then popped some up for dimension! looking at it now...it has a TON of sequins, i probably wouldn't have added so many, but at the time...i just couldn't stop myself! lol! :)

i got you babe

hey there!
i'm pretty sure i mentioned in my post earlier this week about how much i LOVE the inspiration photo for the current mama elephant challenge
LOVE.

here it is again, in all it's clean, simple, pops of color glory:

like i said, i could make 100 cards from that photo! and here is my 2nd card!

so fun, right? I LOVE IT!

i used a stencil and some embossing paste to create the background. and once the embossing paste was dry, i very carefully, used distress paints and painted on some color with a tiny brush to some of the trianges!

the sentiment is from the true friend stamp set (BEST SENTIMENTS EVER) and i stamped it on vellum and then wrapped it around the base panel.

the feathers...they're from the smitten stamp set! LOVE that chunky little feather! i used my sewing machine to attach the them.
i clear embossed it onto vellum and then use a craft knife to cut all the little notches!

lots of detail work on this card! ha ha!
add a dash of circle wood veneers and the card is complete! i couldn't LOVE it more! i hope you do too!
enjoy!

come what may

perhaps one of my favorite songs from the moulin rouge soundtrack - come what may

it was in my head the entire time i made this card, and that's how i knew i was having fun!
LOVE that song! LOVE mama elephant! and LOVE this card!

the latest challenge is totally up my alley! i just LOOOOOVE that inspiration photo!! the colors, the CAS of it, everything!

sigh. it just makes me happy to look at!
here is my card:

i used the super adorable little folded bird from the origami stamp set! i LOVE that stamp set! i think the clean lines and modern-ness of it work well with tons of other styles!

i colored in the bird with copics, a very light grey and then popped it up over the vellum waves!
the waves were die cut with the landscape trio dies
and the sentiment was stamped directly onto the vellum! i LOVE the vellum, because you cas still see through it to the little splotches of watercolors on the back panel!
the sentiment is from the true friend stamp set - which i love because you can create your own combinations!

i painted on some water onto the watercolor paper, then dropped some color from my spray mists into the pool! easy background with an awesome effect! (at least i think!)

so that's it!
what do you think?
i am totally going to play along again! i LOVE this photo!
enjoy!

because i'm happy

***for my lawnscaping challenge post, please click here, or scroll down***

hey there!! today i have my very first project as part of the butterfly reflections ink design team! :)

we are taking part in a super fun sketch! (there's a card one, and a scrapbook one!)

i decided to go the card route, but i then promptly altered it to fit my vision! oops! ha ha!
i used some amazing products that are available in the butterfly reflections ink shop!!

my card base is from the super adorable and FUN echo park hello again 6x6 collection! i loooooove that text background!
i added a vellum speech bubble (of sorts...) and colored in the adoooooorable rainbow from the paper smooches spectrum stamp set! LOVE that set!

i popped up the rainbow for dimension and then used the awesome wood veneers to create my sentiment! underneath the wood veneers is just a very light coat of gesso and then i splatters on some perfect pearls and sequins in GOLD! ha ha!

so that's my take on the sketch!
what's your interpretation? leave me a comment with a link to your blog, i would LOVE to check it out! :)
enjoy!

lawnscaping challenge - try something new!

good morning! and happy monday!
it's a new day, and a new week, and a new challenge over at the lawnscaping blog! :)

and who doesn't love trying something new? i LOVE trying new things!

for my card i used one of the sets from the most recent lawn fawn release - hello sunshine
i think that stramp set is so lovely! those little birds couldn't be any cuter!

i don't know what my new technique is called, but what i did was distress inked over a stencil and then did a little distress ink bleed.

first i used a stencil and some distress inks to create the rainbow pattern on some watercolor paper. i masked off areas of the stencil at a time so i could use the different colors.

then i removed the stencil and sprayed with some water. hello - bleed! i think it's SOOOOO pretty!

i didn't want to cover up the awesome rainbow background so i stamped the polaroid from say cheese onto some vellum, cut it out and adheared it with staples to the card!  the birds were also colored with distress ink and then popped up for dimension.

add a few pearls and the card is complete!

ok, so now it's your turn! :) i really hope you join in on the fun with this challenge!!
for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)
what's the worst that could happen? you could win a gift certificate to simon says stamp! hello!!

a float away happy birthday!

good morning! it's friday!! yahoo!!
today i have a card to share and it's also on the newton's nook blog! :)

have you played along with the inky paws challenge yet this month? it's a sketch, and it's awesome!!
you can use it in so many different ways!!

i decided to play along again, and here it the card i came up with:

love it! ha ha!!
i used some vellum to emphasize the diaganol, while also being subtle. you know i can't stop using vellum. seriously...(i made a different card last night with a goal to not use any vellum! i succeeded...but...it was difficult! i kept reaching for that vellum sheet!)

i paper pieced newton and popped him up for dimension. i mean...he's hangning onto a balloon...he has to be popped up! lol! the newton image is one of my all time FAVORITE newton's and it's from the newton's birthday bash set!

can you tell i added wink of stella and glossy accents to the balloon? i really wanted it to be whimsical!
i spelled out the rest of 'happy' with some thickers and added the 'birthday' onto the vellum with some stazon ink!

so that's it! it's your turn to get your paws inky and play along!!!
i can't wait to see what you make! :)
enjoy!
