a fun layout!

i have another layout to share! yay! my goal is to create some layouts of pictures i would normally put in a frame and hang up. and instead i am going to hang the layouts around my office for inspiration and love! :)

this layout i made of my bff's and i! i used the layout from pencil lines (a super fun layout challenge blog!):

i also wanted to use this layout for the wee memories challenge this week - which is 'bowtiful ribbons!' how fun!

so here it is. my second layout:

these are my favorite colors! teal, lime green and a punch of color! ka-pow! :) the journaling is popped for dimension and to balance out the felt flowers. the title is some old thickers that i had left over from a different scrapbook i made. i decided to fold over the ribbon under the patterend paper because i thought there needed to be some more going on, and it would be a fun addition to the page!

are you sick of the my felt flowers yet?? lol! sorry! i had to add them on here, the circles on the sketch screamed for them! and this time, i decided to add little green buttons as the 'leaves' of the flowers - yay!

well there it is! thanks for stopping by!
enjoy!

oh snap!

this little card is one of my favorites! and i think it goes perfectly with the challenge over at moxie fab for trigger tuesday: it's snowing gingerbread! here's the inspiration picture:

and here's my card:

i found a digital gingerbread man stamp adn then cut off the leg to make it jagged (like it snapped off!), added some google-y eyes (because they make everything better!) and the sentiment, of course! i used some tiny hero arts individual stamps and also some lawn fawn (bows & holly) for the 'christmas' part

i think the color combination really works and the patterned paper sort of looks like falling snow - but shh, it's only white polka dots! :) i added some buttons - because what's a gingerbread man without buttons? :) and then popped up both the sentiments and the gingerbread man for some added dimension.

happy monday!

a little slice of fun

a card! a card! i finally made another card! ha ha! you know, i just had to take a quick break from cards for a while. but i'm back! and this latest card fits with two challenges! :) yay!

the first challenge is ead designs with a fun and inspiring color challenge:

yeah, it's pretty rad. i know!
the second challenge (one of my favorites!) is for wee memories, 'a touch of pink' - another great challenge!

and with those challenges combined, i have created this little slice of fun!

i used four different kinds of ribbon as the background! i love how bright, and festive and fun it is - despite being a christmas card! i used a punch to create the snowflakes and i wanted it to seem like the little reindeer was frollicking through snow! which, oh yeah, the reindeer stamp and sentiment were created using lawn fawn stamps!

i paper pieced and popped up the reindeer and the sentiment for some dimensional fun! oh, and i tried to make the snowflakes curl and look random...but i'm not sure how well that turned out! lol!

enjoy!

i got sketchy

the gals at get sketchy changed things up a bit this week and challenged people to create a card that was inspired by something around our house. well i live in an apartment, and while i work in my office/scrap room, i stare out 2 windows at the other apartment complexes. so that's what inspired this card!

i have been eyeing that hero arts stamp (the buildings one!) for ever! and i decided to just buy it! i had this card in my mind for a while, and i used it as an excuse to get it! lol! the popped up house is heat embossed with red (bright, deep red - which i love!). i added the green ribbon to add to the christmas-y feel.

the sentiment i created from lawn fawn's harold's abc's - and it stained them red (darn stayz-on red stamp pad! lol!) but danielle at girlracer scrap told me not to be sad, it was just love on the stamps. lol! touche!

i added a small nestabilities die cut and two unmatching buttons for a touch of something...i don't know what, but i really liked the red up there too.

anyway, have a FANTASTIC and wonderful thanksgiving!
enjoy!

some inspiration for my craft room

i love the colors this week at the play date cafe! have you seen them? first of all, green and teal - check check!! and then add in red. please. you had me at green and teal. :) so i decided since i love these colors so much to make two different wall art pieces to hang in my very barren craft/office! woah, i'm getting ahead of myself, here is the color inspiration:

and here are my wall hanging's:

they're sort of a combination of a piece of art, and a scrapbook page! lol! i saw these pieces of wood on sale at michael's and i thought...i can do something with those...so vwa-la!
first off, here is the first one i made:

it's of me and my little mann - and he's wearing his hand knitted gnome hat - which was just too cute! sidenote: i've called him my little garden gnome since the day he was born. i used a stamp from wilson's designs for the polaroid and then lawn fawn's harold's abc's for the sentiment. i just love the colors!

and here's the second one:

it's of me and my husband. aww. again, how can you go wrong with the colors? you can't. but i digress. i made the felt hearts and sewed on some brown buttons (another color that goes absolutely fab with the others if you ask me!). the red foam letter stickers were from the dollar section at target last year during valentines day! they weren't quite vibrant red enough for me, so i used some glossy accents on them to make them have a little shine. :)

so, there they are. my inspiration pieces for my room! i am definately going to make some more. but i'm not sure if i want to continue using those colors, or switch up. because believe me, i could use those colors until they're gone! lol!
enjoy!

a departure from the ordinary

ok. so i'm usually a card person. i mean, i love all kinds of crafts, crocheting, quilting, scrapbooking, kitting and cardmaking - i'll give anything a try! but in my entire scrapping-span i've only ever created scrapbooks for people. i love doing it! it gives me a goal and i just love looking at the finished project with them! :) but alas, i have none for myself. so i always wondered, if i were to start scrapping, where do i begin? i have my entire college days, marriage, moves, my son's life, more moves...! i mean it's overwhelming to pick a time to start scrapping for me, just for fun! :)

but i decided to just pick a time, and do it! so here it is! my first layout for me! i picked these pictures because it's been 2 years since one my bff's had (without going into too many medical details) a riduclously risky and radical surgery to remove her ridiculously rare and scary cancer - she survived! and has been cancer free for 2 years, so in honor of that, i decided to make my first page for her! :)

the sketch i used is from a new layout challenge i found (or danielle from girlracer scrap - i can't remember who found it!!) called pencil lines! and here it is:

here's my layout:

now be nice! i like it, but it's a little crazy, i think the b&w paper might be too much, but i couldn't stop using it! :) ha ha!

i made some more of my felt flowers and for the title 'team angela' i found some purple netting (you know, the kind that would hold marbles...or candy...or something like that) and put it around some white cardstock. i think it's awesome!! ha! there's also a 3rd picture of my husband, son and i wearing the 'team angela' t-shirts hidden as a tag with ribbon poking up. on the back of that is more journalling. i had to add the yellow ribbon because that's the color for childhood cancer - and that happened to be the kind of cancer she defeated (despite the fact that she was diagnosed at the age of 26!). i told angie that i made her a page, and that i made it in purples (her favorite color, and - fun fact alert - my least favorite color to craft with), but her yellow cancer ribbon totally clashed with my vision. we laughed about it, what else can you do? i just told her, cancer sucks and ruins everything. ha!

anyway, there it is! and tomorrow i'll be back to posting more cards! don't worry! :)
hope you guys had a great weekend!
enjoy!

your igloo or mine?

i made today's card for the challenge over at caardvarks! the challenge this time was to create a holiday card with a die cut! how fun! i thought this would be a super easy challenge, but it ended up being a tad difficult for me! i didn't want to go too cutesy...but oops - i did! darnit! ha ha! oh well!

the polar bear is cut from the cricut lite - live simply cartridge. how cute is he? and the igloo (lawn fawn - critters in the snow) was stamped onto white felt! :) i tore the bottom, white cardstock and popped it up for some dimension. and then i used (more) lawn fawn stamps for teh sentiment (harold's abc's & cozy christmas).

this is a totally playful card (perhaps a little too playful and silly for this challenge)! but try as i could to create a 'fancy' card, i just couldn't do it this time! oh well! i had fun making it, and that's what counts! hopefully it will put a little smile on your face too!

enjoy!

i like you & some news

yay for friday! :) i bet you guys are as ready for the weekend as i am! :) i'm always ready!
i made today's card for the latest challenge at 2 sketches 4 you:

what a great sketch! it lets you be pretty flexible i think!
here's my take:

i wanted to use my new stamps from lawn fawn - critters in the snow (they're so cute!), i just had to figure out what to do with them! :) then i saw that ribbon (that i bought from the dollar section at target!!) and it hit me - make a winter themed card in summer-y colors! :) this card is a total juxtaposition: i mean, snowflakes in summer colors? lol! but i love it! it is very citrus-y and fun! and that's how i came up with the sentiment (i used harold's abc's from lawn fawn again)! it's just fun!

i paper pieced the penguins and then used some white felt for their bellies - so soft!
on a side note: i was chosen by kim at off the wall craftiness to be a guest designer for her blog!! oh my gosh - it's so exciting!!! i can't wait, and i wanted to share the awesome news! *squeal*

have a great weekend!
enjoy!

wee memories birthday bash

today's card is for the challenge at wee memories! it's a birthday celebration over there because the blog is one year old! :) how exciting!

i used the the 'everything's owl right' stamp set from wilson's designs for the polaroid and sentiment (by the way, i love the polaroid stamp - so fun!). the animal stamps are paper pieced and are hero arts - super fab! they are just adhered straight onto the card. i popped up the balloons and the polaroids for some dimension (of course)!

i made this card while skype-scrapping with danielle at girlracer scrap. and i had everything but the balloons on it. i was like, 'see? it needs something.' and she suggested the balloons! duh! what was i thinking? what's a birthday card without balloons!? :)

i like how bright and happy it is - perfect for a birthday bash! :)

enjoy!

off the wall christmas-ness

today's card was made for the color challenge at off the wall craftiness! here's the inspriation and color swatch:

i decided not to go the thanksgiving route - despite the fact that these are classic thanksgiving and fall colors! i know, what's wrong with me? :)

instead, i made another christmas card!

it's totally easy, and could easily be made over and over (with different patterend paper to shake things up of course!) for multiple christmas cards! that was my logic behind this! the outline for the sentiment was part of a stamp (it said, 'i'm so sorry', but i really just liked the outline for this card! so i didn't use the sentiment it came with!) and the sentiment is a different stamp, but it fits perfectly! i don't know who the stamp is by though, i borrowed it from danielle at girlracer scrap! for some added dimension, i used some foam squares to pop it up.

anyway, it's easy peasy! and fun! i think with the patterned paper i used and the way the sentiment is lined up, it gives this simple and clean card a bit of whimsy. :)

enjoy!

simply modern

i have to start off by saying what a fantastic weekend i had! i hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well! danielle from girlracer scrap came up to visit for the weekend, and i had so much fun!! she's the best! we went to an awesome carnival on saturday and then did a 12 hour crop on sunday!! yikes!

anyway, on to the card - i made this for the challenge at everything but the kitchen sink. i have to say, i. love.these.colors. ha!!! they're my favorite, for sure! :) check out this inspiration:

yeah, enough said, i know. :)
here's my card:

i made those felt flowers by cutting out 3 different sized circles and then i sewed a button on. the stamp is from hero arts and i really love it!

this card us super modern and minimalistic, but i still like it! maybe it's the colors!
enjoy!

a sketchy thanks

oh my gosh - it's friday! i know it's cliche to be so excited for the end of the week...but i can't help it! it's been a nonsensical week at work! not to mention danielle from girlracer scrap is driving up from florida to spend the weekend in good old charleston with me this weekend...and we're attending a 12 hour crop at the local scrapbook store here...12 hours people! lol! i'm totally stressing about what i'm going to work on!

anyway, on to today's card! it's for the get sketchy challenge! here is their sketch (it's fabulous!):

and here's my interpretation:

have i mentioned how much i love kraft paper?! love it. and this patterend paper is fabulous! i think it goes great with the kraft! i layered two different ribbons (different sizes, colors and textures, no less!), which i love doing! the sentiment is a thank you stamp from lawn fawn! so cute!

the middle of the card is a sort of retro starburst...thing! i think it totally compliments the patterened paper (as far as the retro feel). it's a rub-on from EAD Designs, their vinyl rub ons are super fab!

enjoy your weekend!!!

off the wall foxiness

the color challenge this week at off the wall craftiness this week is orange, white and black - classic halloween colors. but i didn't want to do a halloween card, so i decided to make a card just for fun using those colors! :) here's the inspiration photo:

and here's my card:

i cut the fox out of the cricut a long time ago (so i already had it ready to go!) and i used thickers for the word 'fox' and some rub on letters for the rest of the sentiment. i love how eclectic the card feels with the two different fonts!

i popped up the fox for some dimension and added some ribbon at the bottom because it needed just a tad more color! :) and vwa-la! a foxy card for a foxy friend!! :)

enjoy!

a little card smore you

he he he...

i made this card for the eitsy inspired challenge this week (inspiration photo below from the BeiLexian shop), as well as for the wee memories challenge (which is a free for all challenge - make anything you want!).

i used the milk glass from lawn fawn's cozy christmas, and re-invented it as a marshmallow again! but this time the marshmallows are on their way to a smore party! :)

i used the edge of one (of my many!) moving boxes to make the 'graham cracker'. andi used two pieces of kraft cardstock with foam tape to separate (so it looks 3-d) for the chocolate. the marshmallow men are (of course) the milk glass, with the tops cut off! i just think it's so cute (or should i say, sweet!).

enjoy!

a little (late) play date cafe

oh man, i barely made this challenge! oops! time got away from me!
i'll make this a quick post (i have to chase after the little mann after all!)!

the play date cafe's challenge this week was to create a black and white card with a splash of burgandy! fun! i decided to use those colors for a christmas card! i love making christmas cards with nontraditional colors! it's keeps me on my toes! :)

here it is:

i used lawn fawn stamps for the snowflakes (and sentiment), and i heat embossed them in white. it REALLY pops on the black...(it also really shows the mistakes! oh well!) i love heat embossing! i used a burgandy stamp pad that i had from close to my heart for the sentiment, and i also distressed the edge of the sentiment. it really is just a splash of burgandy! :)

well that's the card. off to change diapers and play trucks with the little mann (in case you didn't know, our last name is mann, so that's why i call him our little mann). :)

have fun!
enjoy!
