ding dong!

i'm back with another 4x4 card i created for the CAS-ual Fridays 'mini card' challenge and the Less is More 'anything goes' challenges!

i'm having such a great time making these cards! they're so fun! and this one is particularly cheeky! ha ha! it's supposed to be a fun little nod to the wizard of oz, does that come through?

again, i used an array of lawn fawn stamps (harold's abc's, cozy christmas, harvest season and just a smidge of making frosty friends)!

i paper-pieced the pumpkin, and fussy cut out the socks (which i colored in using colored pencils). the hat i made by using the base of the top hat from the 'making frosty friends' and then freehanding the triangle to make it looks like a witch's hat. :) how versitle are lawn fawn stamps? i tell you!

inside i simply stamped the happy halloween sentiment from 'heebie jeebies', because it's such a fab stamp!

anyway, i hope this card made you giggle a bit. i loved making it! anything i can make that makes me smile and laugh is a winner in my book!

a little boo!

i have a super cute (in my opinion!) and super easy (in probably everyone's opinion!) mini-card to share today! i made it for two challenges:

the CAS-ual Fridays 'mini card' challenge and the Less is More 'anything goes' challenge.

the card i made is 4x4 and is also a window card! here it is:

i made the window with a simple circle punch. and then, i used three different lawn fawn stamp sets - which seems crazy to me, since it's such a small and simple card! but that's the great thing about lawn fawns stamps! :)

everything is paper pieced, and i also popped up the pumpkin for dimension. the pumpkin is from the harvest season stamp set, and i just cut it up, and outlined the cuts with a black sharpie to make it look like it was it's own stamp! the cat is from 'critters in the burbs' and the sentiment is from the 'heebie jeebies' stamp set! i think it works perfectly with the cat jumping out of the pumpkin!

now back to your regularly scheduled weekend! :) i hope i get even more crafty this weekend! *fingers crossed*

i was so touched by the super sweet comments left by everyone during the lawnscaping blog hop this weekend! and after seeing everyone's amazing-fabulous-wonderful-inspiring-creative-beautiful cards, i was filled with inspiration, gratitude and creativity myself! so i whipped up these two similar and easy-to-make thank you cards!

i used hero arts stamps 'happy hello' and a die that i had from papertrey ink for the cut out of the card. i also wanted to use these cards for one of the current contests going on at hero arts for the month of september: creating a window card.

all i did was stamp the images onto monochromatic colors for the owls and fussy cut them out (i also stamped the owl onto the card itself, so when i popped up the fussy cut out owls, they have a bit of a shadow behind them! easy peasy.

then, to keep the cards light and bright and clean, i made some of my white felt flowers and added them to the card with a hint of ribbon and a matching button to complete the 'flowers'. :)

the cards were super simple and easy to make, but that was my goal. i wanted to be able to make a bunch of them, so i could always have access to a thank you card for someone special!

lawnscaping's first blog hop!

i am so excited to be part of this blog hop! i've been looking forward to it since it was announced, and it's finally here! yahoo! my project is a scrapbook layout. it's of my son's first christmas (in 2008...*whistle*), when we went looking for the perfect christmas tree! and if you can believe it, i used 4 different lawn fawn stamp sets (critters in the forest, harold's abc's, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum and quinn's abc's)!

i 'paper'-pieced the trees with felt and kraft cardstock. i wanted the added texture to the trees, since they're the main focus of the layout. the bear was also paper pieced, and i just had to add it to the layout, since my little mann was dressed in a bear suit when we were on our hunt for the perfect tree!

i only have a wee bit of journaling, but i also layed that over both colors of the green felt for cohesion and dimension. i just realized that none of my elements are popped up, and i nearly always have something popped up on my projects! oh well, the layering of the trees works for me! :)

the title of the layout was created with some fun patterened paper and fussy cutting out the stamps from quinn's abc's. this layout was super fun to make, i had a great time, and i hope it shows!

lawnscaping halloween layout

here's a layout i created for the latest challenge at lawnscaping: embossing! i love heat embossing, it's like adding a little magic to your projects. my only issue is that i often have a lot of random embossing powder heat-ed to my project because i can't make all the random powder particles go away. any suggestions? i have heard rubbing your project with a dryer sheet helps, has anyone tried that? i would love to hear some tips so my projects look clean all the time!

anyway, here's the layout:

i scrapped my little one's first halloween (from 2008, yes, i'm waaaaay behind!). his name is jackson, and he was a 'jack-o-lantern'. tee he he.

as you can see, some times the embossing is clean and flawless, and other times *cough cough the spiders cough cough* they're super messy. so although i love heat embossing, sometimes i shy away from it because i know with just regular stamping, i can have a cleaner effect 9 times out of 10. :) sigh.



again, i used all lawn fawn stamps: 'harvest season' and 'heebie jeebies' (which i just won at lawn fawn's latest release giveaway!! i'm still floored by that!) and 'harold's abc's'. the pumpkins were paper pieced and the other stamps were all heat embossed (some better than others!). for instance, i *love* how the clear embossed leaves turned out by the pumpkins. if only all of my heat embossing adventures were so lucky! :)

i used thickers for the main sentiment, i just like how they add dimension to a layout. between lawn fawn and thickers, i can make all my projects i think! ha ha!

a clean and simple thanks

i was able to get crafty this weekend! and it felt awesome! ha ha!

i made this card last night for the challenge going on at wee memories, simply sentiments! it's totally my style, since i decided to go CAS with this card!

here it is:

i paper pieced everything! i'm a fan of paper piecing! :) anyway, i used all lawn fawn stamps: 'quinn's abc's' and 'critters in the burbs'! love lawn fawn! :) anyway, i popped up some of the animals to add dimension, but as you can see, it's pretty straight forward! i tried to use neutral-ish colors on the animals, as well as the background of the card so the 'thanks' would really pop! :)

well, i hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend, too! and i wish every weekend was this productive! ha ha! maybe someday!

a taggie frenzy

here's a quick post for today! it's not even scrap-related! :(

but i wanted to share that i've been at least a little crafty lately! a good friend of mine from college just had a baby girl, and i made a taggie for her! she didn't have any specific themes or colors, so i just picked a very girly, soft and fun print of fairies! i liked that i was able to use all different colored ribbons for the tags!

i also made a taggie for a friend of my husband's long-time family friend - who is just about to have a little boy. they did their room with clouds on the ceiling, and curious george. well, unfortunately i couldn't find any curious george fabric by me, so i just chose this fun monkey fabric!

i really liked how they turned out, they're both fun and soft! perfect for little ones to lay on and learn the world!

i hope to be able to get down and dirty and scrappy soon! i've started a few projects when i have 5 or 10 minutes here and there. but i haven't been able to finish anything! it's sort of frustrating! ha ha!
