Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release Day 1 - Sun Soaked Christmas

hello and happy monday!
today is the start of the HOLIDAY release extravaganza for Newton's Nook Designs!

I am not kidding when I tell you that the sets this month are AMAZING!!! I can't wait for everyone to see the whole release!
today the whole team is showing off the Sun Soaked Christmas stamp set...a personal favorite of mine since I live in South Carolina and it's never cold here! ha!! (last Christmas it was 95 degrees...i remember because we were moving and it was HOTTT!!)
you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on October 28th, right here!

my first card uses the adorable palm tree scene!

i watercolored my images with Distress Markers and then, yes! i fussy cut them out! It was actually easier than you might think! The background was created by pressing my Distress Ink pads onto my rectangular acrylic block (Blueprint Sketch, Tumbled Glass and Vintage Photo). i spritzed the block with water and then pressed it onto my card front!

i splattered the whole thing with white acrylic paint to give it a 'snowy' feel! love how it came out!!

my second card is just as 'distressy', but not as watercolor-y! ha!

i used lots of layers to create the sandy beach! i die cut pieces from white cardstock, and then blending on Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. the sky was created with Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers. then i splattered water onto the whole thing!

i watercolored, fussy cut, and tucked in the little shells and sandals, and then heat embossed the sentiment! LOVE how this came out! :)

  2. Beautiful coloring on both of your cards! I live in
So. Florida where it's never cold either. lol But your first card reminds me of when back in '77 we had snow flurries & they let us out of class to see them. Of course they melted as soon as they hit the hot ground.

  3. Super cards. I love how you colored each one so uniquely. How fun to be in an area for Christmas where one would wear flip-flops, not here in the State of Washington. :)
