Newton's Nook Designs August Release - Mermaid Crossing

happy tuesday!
today is the start of August release week with Newton's Nook Designs! i just LOVE release weeks!

today, the whole DT is showcasing the new, INCREDIBLE Mermaid Crossing stamp set! don't you just LOVE this set? seriously, i am in LOVE with this! of course i LOVE mermaids (i was a kid in the 80's so OF COURSE i love the little mermaid movie!!! ha!), and this set is SOOO adorable! LOVE it!
you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on August 14th, right here!

for my first card, i created a fun, textured background, that really lets that mermaid pop!

isn't it great?
i misted the background with some light mint Heidi Swapp Color Shine. once that was dry i added that bubble background with a stencil and some embossing paste!

the mermaid was colored with copics, and i just LOVE that she's hugging the little seahorse!! so cute!

i popped her up over that crumpled vellum with the sentiment! LOVE how this turned out!

my 2nd card is just as fun!

i created that fun background with some distress ink and distress stain...and lots of water! ha!
first i blended the background with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. Then i added some water spots.
once it was dry, i used lots of vintage photo distress stain to create that 'sand'! so fun!

again, i colored 'Ariel" (ha!) with copics and heat embossed the sentiment in white!
the seaweed below was also heat embossed! so fun!
