hitchin a ride

so i came up with the idea for this card this morning when i was playing on the floor with the little menn (the littlest mann has a toy alligator). and all day, i was like, must-make-card, must-make-card. ha ha!! so i squeezed in some crafty time between naps, work, and oh, just naps and work. but it felt like there was a lot more squeezing happening! lol!

so this card is for the awesome designer drafts sketch challenge at paper smooches sparks, and i had fun every step of the way! :)

here's the sketch:

and here's my card:

the alligator is perhaps, one of the cutest things i've seen! ha ha! he's paper pieced! the clouds and the bird is fussy cut, which was then outlined for a fun factor!

the they were all popped up onto a square of the same patterned paper! i think that's so neat! lol!
the grass is popped up too (lots of dimension on this card!!), and the sentiment is heat embossed.

i was like, who hasn't ever asked for a ride from a friend, right? or carpooled together with a friend on a road trip? ha ha!

well that's it! hope tonight is filled with crafty-time for everyone!
enjoy!

missin you

i was totally thrown off guard with the latest color inspiration from the play date cafe! i was like, psh, no WAY i'm going to come up with something with those colors!! ...and then i made two cards!! :) turns out, i'm sort of a fan of that color combination! :)

the cards i made are a set, same stamps, and slight differences. i used the 'across the miles' stamp set from the sweet stamp shop (LOVE that image. i can't say that enough. LOVE!). and i created the sentiment from lawn fawn's 'quinn's abc's'.

here's the first card:

the image is popped up for dimension, and the heart was glossi-fied.
i cut out the state of Colorado, because that's where the recipient (to be!) of this card lives, and it's 'missing'. he he he.

on the second card, nothing is popped up - what? i know! totally not me. the heart is also glossy. yep, just a bunch of fussy cut stamp images. :) i like it though! :)

like i said - i really had fun making these cards, and stepping out of (what i thought was!) my comfort zone!

enjoy!

just keep swimming

fun fact - this is my 200th post!!

i saw the latest challenge at the alley way stamps, and i fell in love with the inspiration photo! i think i may play more than once! alas - i don't own any taws stamps yet, but they have free digi's available, so i used a few of those!! how cool!!

as soon as i saw the clusters of pleated circles, i knew what i wanted to do! i have been wanted to make a pleated flower forever, but just hadn't done it! so this was my chance - and my first time making them! of course, they're super easy!

here's my card:

i paper-pieced the little fishy guy, but i also added some extra fun to him by outlining it with an orange marker. i really like how that looks! i can see more of that in my future!

i the staggered, pleated flowers are meant to represent the bubbles. and of course, what's a sea-scape without sand/seaweed? :)

inside the card, it says, 'just keep swimming' - another digi freebie from the fabulous alley way stamps!

i think i'm loving this card, and i totally can't wait to use pleated flowers on my next layout!!

so that's it! SO happy that it's friday!!! i'm going to try to get crafty more this weekend and play again - i LOVE the colors and cluster in that photo! i honestly can't stop looking at it! lol
enjoy!

my hubby's birthday

today is my hubby's birthday! yahoo! and, slacker that i am, i just made his card today - while he was at work! :) oops!
in my defense, i tried to make it last night, but i lost my PS 'party posse' stamp set and i'm SO bummed!! :(  i tore everything apart, and it's gone. *sniff*

anyway, i created this card instead for him, and i even got creative on the inside! the card was created with the latest trend watch challenge at paper smooches sparks - LOVE the patterns on the photo!

so of course i went with patterned paper to tie it all in! i used the 'boob tubes' and 'eco friendly' stamp sets for this card! :)

the tv is paper pieced, and the little tornado is fussy cut into the tv! i LOVE that little guy, which is ironic because if anyone knows me, they know i turn into a curled up ball of mush during bad weather! lol!

i used some black enamel goo to pop up the buttons on the tv, and i used a ton of glossy accents for the tv screen! he he! i think that's my favorite part! :)

inside the card - it's all one layer, but i do like the extra touch of love it adds!

i shaded with yellow around the swirls and just added a little punched heart to the bottom corner - see? little added love! :)

so that's it!
enjoy!

wish you were here

the weekend is over...sigh, and it's time to start another week - bring it on!
tonight i'm here with a card i made for two challenges! the latest challenge at lawnscaping is all about patterned paper! YES!! :) i am a patterned paper-aholic and i loooooove paper piecing, so i'm in! :)

also, the challenge going on at young crafters unite is all about flowers, which i think is totally 'season' appropriate, and i had a blast creating my card with flowers!

so here it is:

i used three stamp sets from lawn fawn - harold's abc's (perhaps the most used stamp set in the history of the world - for me! ha ha!), 'love n breakfast' and 'on the mend'. everything is paper-pieced and it's all patterned paper- except the white base for the card. honestly i really had so much fun with this card!

the flowers and vases are popped up for some dimension-y fun!

so that's it! i hope you have a really wonderful week!
enjoy!

always friends

the latest challenge at a blog named hero is awesome! i love color challenges!! and this one is even more fun since it's their logo!

who doesn't love those colors together, right?

so here's my take:

i used the 'life of the party' stamp set for the main images, and the jungle-y set 'cl155' for the sentiment (which is heat embossed). i started off this card with a birthday theme in mind...but you know how things happen! :) most of my good friends are all over the country, so anytime i get a chance to give a nod to being close to friends, who aren't close in proximity, i'm going to do it! :)

my favorite part of the card is the candy i used as a bow tie and bow! i think adding bows/bow ties to images is on my new favorite things to do! it's a good thing i don't have a hero arts mustache set, that's all i'm saying!! :)

so, i added glitter to jazz up the card - sometimes i have a hard time telling myself when to stop with the glitter...the original plan was to just glitter their freckle-y cheeks...oops.

anyway, that's that! time to convince my hubby to set up my expedit from ikea...SO EXCITED! we'll see if he sets it up, if so, i'll post some before (scary!!) and after pictures!
enjoy your weekend!

stayin' cool

i have been wanting and wanting to use this penguin image from the 'my peeps' set from paper smooches for-EVER! and now that i just recently won it, i was super geeked to ink it up!

couple that with the fact that it's SO hot here...i'm talking temperature hot and humid hot all at once...and vwa-la! you have the card i made for this latest paper smooches sparks challenge!

of course the picture is awesome! i mean, a teal piano...yes please!

so the little penguin was stamped and paper-pieced actually. i cut out his belly and eyes that i stamped in black and then colored and glittered his nose. i couldn't resist!

i love using buttons, and i haven't in a while, so i thought the challenge picture was a perfect reason! they're my interpretation of snowflakes! also, i used the 'alphadot' set for the custom sentiment.

so that's it! hope this card sent you a little cool-th. yes. cool-th, i made it up! :)
enjoy!
