you're a dear

although i've mentioned (more than once...) that i am not a huge fan of purple for crafts, sometimes, i just have to use it anyway! for instance, one of my best friends' favorite color is purple. so of course when i want to make her something, i use purple. unfortunate as that is for me! :)

fortunately, though, off the wall craftiness has a new challenge out, and i was actually able to come up with an idea that i didn't second guess the entire time i made it! :) here are the inspiration colors:

and here is my purple spin on a card:

i combined two different stamp sets - one from paper smooches and the other one is, of course, from lawn fawn! i hope that's not a faux pas! they just fit so well together!
i layered two different colors of purple for the card and on top of that, i used some white ribbon. the sentiment is stamped onto polka dotted vellum (i love that!), which is why i used the white ribbon - to tie it together. then i paper pieced two deer stamps from lawn fawn, and made one of them a girl (complete with homemade bow! i made the bow by using two small heart punches and a little gemstone)!

the flower embellishment i sort of scraplifted. i found it buried deep in my scrap supplies but the base of it had like a tacky orange and dark green...so i ripped that off and stuck it onto my folded over white ribbon! and ta-da! much better!

anyway, thanks for checking it out - i really appreciate it!
enjoy!

another squeaker

well, looks like i'm back to my old tricks - submitting a card just before the deadline closes! lol! oh well!

this card was made for the off the wall craftiness challenge - and i really do love the color combination this week! i have been planning on participating the whole week, but then i just was stumped with an idea! anyway, for some reason while i was at the park with my little mann, an idea hit me, so as soon as he was down for a nap, my creative juices were unleashed! lol!

here is the color inspiration:

and here is my card:

i thought about saying something like, 'birthday fishes' or something else cute-sy like that, but i since i made the fish from different sized hearts (and popped them up) i wanted to stick with a love theme. :) and the stamp is from lawn fawn (of course!).

i used my circle punch to make the offset scallops (i always love doing that), and used a shimmery blue every once in a while to make it super fab! :) ha ha!

enjoy!

what a pear!

so, at the end of this month, one of my best friends will be married to her sweetie for 5 years! how amazing for them! in honor of that, i made this very special anniversary card! but before i go any further, can i just say, (and i know this is cliche) time goes by so fast!!! they have been through so much together (already!), i know this is just the tip of the iceberg for them!

anyway, i made this card for the latest color challenge at off the wall craftiness! the colors this week were purple, black and green! now you may or may not know...but the bain of crafting existence is the color purple. i'm not a fan. i appreciate it on other people's crafts, don't get me wrong!! i am just not inspired with the color. alas, it's the bestie's favorite color, so i work with what i have, right!

here's my card:

their wedding colors were purple and silver, so i wanted to incorporate that (with the diagonal stripes) for sure. the bottom layer of the card was my real jump starter for this card. it had purples and greens and i thought, 'yeah, i can work with that'. ha ha! i decided to layer two ribbons (the thick white and the thin green) to continue with a 'double theme'.

the stamps are lawn fawn of course! and i embossed the sentiment in black (i love embossing!) and paper pieced the pears! :)
so that's that! i'm actually quite proud of this 'purple' card! :)
enjoy!

a simple congrats

it's wedensday! and i actually have another card to share! i've been in a slump lately, i can't get motivated to craft - i don't know if it's because of all of the stress that comes with the end of the year or what...any suggesstions to get out of it?? :)
anyway, here is my card:

i created it for two challenges:

Card Creations: Favorite Occasions Congratulations Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and also for the latest color challenge at off the wall craftiness! :) see the color inspiration below:

i decided to use my circle punch and make some offset scallops for the bottom of the card. and then i paper pieced the fab flower stamp (from lawn fawn) and used a found button i had lying around for the center!

it's totally simple, but it could work for a wedding i think?
anyway, enjoy!

off the wall christmas-ness

today's card was made for the color challenge at off the wall craftiness! here's the inspriation and color swatch:

i decided not to go the thanksgiving route - despite the fact that these are classic thanksgiving and fall colors! i know, what's wrong with me? :)

instead, i made another christmas card!

it's totally easy, and could easily be made over and over (with different patterend paper to shake things up of course!) for multiple christmas cards! that was my logic behind this! the outline for the sentiment was part of a stamp (it said, 'i'm so sorry', but i really just liked the outline for this card! so i didn't use the sentiment it came with!) and the sentiment is a different stamp, but it fits perfectly! i don't know who the stamp is by though, i borrowed it from danielle at girlracer scrap! for some added dimension, i used some foam squares to pop it up.

anyway, it's easy peasy! and fun! i think with the patterned paper i used and the way the sentiment is lined up, it gives this simple and clean card a bit of whimsy. :)

enjoy!

off the wall foxiness

the color challenge this week at off the wall craftiness this week is orange, white and black - classic halloween colors. but i didn't want to do a halloween card, so i decided to make a card just for fun using those colors! :) here's the inspiration photo:

and here's my card:

i cut the fox out of the cricut a long time ago (so i already had it ready to go!) and i used thickers for the word 'fox' and some rub on letters for the rest of the sentiment. i love how eclectic the card feels with the two different fonts!

i popped up the fox for some dimension and added some ribbon at the bottom because it needed just a tad more color! :) and vwa-la! a foxy card for a foxy friend!! :)

enjoy!

a happy merry christmas

i know people say this all the time, but this year really is flying by! i mean, it's almost halloween...and then thanksgiving, and then christmas, and then another new year!! yikes! time goes by so fast! whew!

anyway, i have another christmas card - yahoo! it's for two fantastic challenges: off the wall craftiness and get sketchy. see below for the deets (aka - sam talk for details):

i just love the color combination!!!! (maybe the only way to make it better is to add a little teal in there! lol)
ok, enough chitter-chat, here's my card:

i really like how it turned out - it's light, bright and christmas! what more could you want? ha ha!

i used my handy dandy circle punch to create the scalloped edge and hand cut the green circle (LOVE that green patterned paper, by the way!). the sentiment is from the cozy christmas stamp set from lawn fawn (naturally). i used a white ribbon to tie the bow, and then used some to go along the middle of the card. i also layered a thin strip of green ribbon on top of the white ribbon for some added fab.

i wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but i think the colors and the sketch really work well together! i'm telling you, this card basically made itself!! :)

enjoy!

just a quick note

what an exciting weekend i had in the craft world this weekend! i was able to skype-scrap with danielle at girlracer scrap - so much fun! although...there are so many distractions i'm surprised we were each able to get anything done!

then, i won last week's challenge over at off the wall craftiness!! woo-hoo!!!

and as if that wasn't enough...hello! i am fab 5 over at 2 sketches 4 you!!! *insert squeal* ha ha!
so anyway, sufice it to say, i'm uber happy! :) i love all of these challenges, and have a blast making my cards!!

i'll be posting a card later on today - i just had to share the good news first thing!
enjoy!

a simple and happy little card concoction

yet another card, that is not christmas-related...see? this is why i had to start so early! i knew i would get sidetracked! lol!

anyway, the card i made is for two challenges: wee memories (which is all about 'celebrating good times') and off the wall craftiness (color inspiration below):

i was a little stumped at first, but then i was able to get into a groove and create this cute and soft little card to give to someone when they are expecting a new 'little one'! :)

i cut the pennant out by hand and then popped them up for dimension. then i added some embroidery floss and bows to finish it off. i double stampes the sentiment to give it more depth, i don't know if i love it, but i had to try it out!

anyway, there it is, a simple and happy little card concoction! :)
enjoy!

off the wall christmas

alright, i have to make this a quick post. i'm in the middle of moving to SC and there are boxes everywhere, not to mention a little one passed out on the couch. so since i have a few moments to myself, i wanted to post a card i made this weekend for the latest and greatest off the wall craftiness challenge. the colors this week were like a gold, white and brown. here's the inspiration photo and color swatch:

i'm still trying to crank out some christmas cards, so i wanted this one to be christmas themed as well! i am loving birds on a wire, and when i paired that with the musical patterend paper background, i wanted knew i wanted the sentiment to be music related. so i chose 'noel', a totally classic christmas song, in my opinon. and since the colors are also classic, i thought it was a good fit! :)

the music notes were created with a punch. and i cut one of them in half for the two single notes. the 'wire' is just some brown floss. and then i used a stamp for the bird and the sentiment, which was then distressed and then both were popped up for dimension. i also added some thin ribbed, chocolate brown ribbon at the bottom.

so that's it! sorry about the quality of the photo - i was rushed and things were being packed up behind me!! :)
hopefully things will settle down and i'll be able to get a little more scrapping done for posts! thanks again for bearing with me!

enjoy!

off the wall holiday

one of my most favorite color combinations ever is the focus for this week's challenge at off the wall craftiness: brown, cream and light blue.

love it!

i like to use all of those colors together anyway, so making my card was a snap! and it's a holiday card - so check one more off of the to-do list for this christmas! ha ha!

i love this card!! i used a big circle punch to create the flower petals (the same technique as i used on a tree card i made last week); first i punched a circle, then i punched that same circle twice to get the petals. then i arranged them into a flower and blinged out the center! instant flower! then i just popped up the flowers for some added dimension.

i used two different ribbons for the side and then i used my lawn fawn cozy christmas stamps for the sentiment (also popped up). i really like how this card looks old or vintage!

enjoy!

even elephants embellish off the wall

brace yourselves, i actually made a card with no owls or trees! ha ha! i know, those are few and far between. but don't worry, i made up for that with lots of little, tiny hearts! why have those become a staple of mine? i have no clue, but i can't seem to hide from them!

not only that! - but this post is a two-for! two challenges/two different cards in one post. oh yeah, i told you to brace yourself! :)

the first card is the non-owl/tree card referred to is for the latest
embellish magazine color challenge: use the colors below (yellow, gray, black and white) and a stamped background. so here we go!

little baby elephants are just so cute! and i thought these non-traditional baby colors would be a great compliment to a new baby card! i masked the hearts on the background of the paper (through a punched out heart on scrap paper!).

the elephant was stamped twice and then i popped up the ears and added a little bling eye for fun! to add to the fun, i also glimmer mist-ed the elephant! the sentiment was created with thickers, and i just added the punched out hearts randomly to them, i LOVE how that turned out. i think it's my favorite part of the card!

the next card is for off the wall craftiness! i love those color challenges! below are the inspiration colors for this week:

and here's my card! just a nutty little birthday card! i added some browns to the card, forgive me! but the squirrel and acorns had to be brown-y. :)

the acorns were stamped twice on the two afore mentioned browns, and then one layer was popped up. i also popped up the balloons and the sentiment - for which i used the hero arts stamps.

thanks again!
enjoy and good luck!
