(more) World Card Making Day!

see? i told you i would be back! :)

i have another card for two super fun WCMD challenges! :)
and yes, one is another sketch challenge (those are my super fav ones!) :D

butterfly reflections ink has two different challenges going on today! and i just HAD to play along, and help spread the word! :) make sure you play too, mkay? i chose the sketch challenge (as previously mentioned) and LOOOOOOOOOOVE it!

the card is also for another challenge going on at moxie fab world! CHECK OUT THIS PHOTO!!

seriously...i could NOT love it more! the colors...the shapes...swoon. i want that. and i want everything i ever make to look like that! ha!

enough of my blabbering, here's my card:

so FUN, right?! i used an older lawn fawn set: critters in the sea. seriously, this is one of my favorite set, i LOVE those little swimmers! so adorable!

i colored all of the images with copcis and popped them up with foam tape. and for the diaganol line, i used some transluscent embossing paste and this awesome stencil from memory box called texture wave!

i love the pops of color (i tried to use all of the colors in the photo), on that white background. and the texture and clear waves, oh yeah! love how this turned out!

so make sure you play along (you still have time!)
thanks again for stopping by! :)
enjoy!

World Card Making Day!

i'm so excited for today!!
there are so many amazing giveaways, challenges, and just plain old fashioned card-making FUN!! it's a perfect day!!

although, admittedly, i didn't get to spend as much time ACTUALLY making cards today as i wanted to today...(insert super fun, family bonding day in downtown Charleston here), i was able to whip up a few cards for a few challenges after the little menn went down to sleep! :)

ok, so first of all, newton's nook is offering up a few different ways to win some newton's swag! create ANY card you want (no Newton required, but it's fun to see!!) and you can either link up on the newton's nook designs blog, or post on instagram! make sure you play along, too!

then, OF COURSE,  moxie fab world is ROCKING today from sun up to sun down! so my card was created with this super versatile, incredible sketch!

alright, onto my card! :)

yay! i used two different newton's nook designs stamp sets! the birds, houses and part of the sentiment are from tweet talk. and the big 'thanks' is from simply sentimental! i loooooooove how this turned out!!

to create the background, i took a piece of white cardstock, and squished it on top of some pumice stone distress paint, then spritzed it with water. once it was dry, i stamped the woodgrain backdrops from lawn fawn (in wet cement ink from hero arts).

the bird houses and birds were colored with copics and popped up!

so what do you think? is it tweet? lol! :)
(note: i'm a little slap happy from being outside in the sun/fresh air and then racing home to craft! ha!)

alright, i have another post coming your way soon! :)
LOVE this day!
enjoy!

a bokeh-ful celebration

i decided to play along with the latest tuesday trigger at moxie fab world - pastel pretties!

i have had this idea to try to add some bokeh to a card for a while, but i have never attempted it...until now.
and i'm not sure my attempt was 100% successful. sometimes i look at the card and think it does look like bokeh, and sometimes i look and just see a bunch of polka dots. :) ha ha!

so here it is:

i used the awesome, lovely sentiment from the paper smooches stamp set pretty phrases. and the 'bokeh' was created using the three different sized circles from the gently seasoned. then i added some fun, gold sequins to add to the dimension/bokeh/dreamy feel. :)

i stamped the circle and then first stamped the image onto a scrap paper and then stamped onto my card. so all of the colors are second generations.
like i said, i tried! i also created a version of this card on white cardstock (my first, first attempt!), but the circles looked even more like polka dots because of the stark color contrast!)

so that's it!
enjoy!

thanks with shine

ok, i am so in love with this inspiration photo over at the runway inspired challenge that i created two cards! i'm sharing the first one today and probably the second one tomorrow. i can't decide which one i like more, they're both so bright and fun! lol!

i'm also entering this into the moxie fab world washi tape challenge!

so here it is:

i used some awesome black and white chevron washi tape to create the background of card - how fun is that?! then i used some my cute stamps for the flower and sentiment (ella's flowers and eek! a monster).

i fussy cut out the middle of the flowers (the pink) and sprayed some white card stock with my heidi swapp color shine - one of my current obsessions! i just love the shine that it adds! i also added some glossy accents to the pink of the flower. and the whole flower is popped up for dimension.

it's hard to get a good picture to capture the true shimmery-ness of the color shine in the flower. but in real life - kabam! it's there! :)
i just think it's delightful! and i hope the brightness brought a smile to your face this monday morning.
enjoy!

party like a rockstar

so i decided to make another card for the mama elephant sketch challenge
i also made this for the moxie fab world speech bubble challenge! and moxie fab world ombre challnege because i sure do love me some speech bubbles and ombre! :)

i heat embossed all of the stars on the background (from the on target stamp set) and then i fussy cut out the colored stars (stamp from polar pals). i sewed all along the stars with my sewing machine to give a sort of 'falling stars' look.

the sentiment and 'party rock hand' are from good times, i popped up those speech bubbles.

so, once again, i loosely interpreted the sketch, but i totally think it's cool! and i can't wait to send it to my brother in law for his birthday!

hope your saturday is shaping up well! i am hoping to get inky and creative again this weekend! that's my goal!! :)
enjoy!

keen on neon

today i have a super fab, fun holiday card that i made for the fun challenge at the moxie fab world
keen on neon!
who doesn't love neon?! and who wouldn't be totally stoked to receive a neon christmas card! lol!

i had fun making this card, and it was super fast too!

i used some sweet washi and wood veneers! i used my mister heuy spray to make the stars match the pink washi, and then stamped right onto the washi with my lawn fawn must have stamp set: harold's abc's.

oh yeah! i first used that fun star mask you've seen everywhere to create the background! :)
and the heart i popped up and made glossy! :)

what's not to love! super fun! sure to make any day a little bit merry! i hope, anyway! :)
enjoy!

do not open until

i am loving this card i made for two amazing challenges!
the challenege over at a blog named hero is all about tags! yay!

and one of the challenges at the moxie fab world is all about incorporating the gallon/quart/pint lesson! this is a fabbie technique that i have really taken to heart lately because i think it adds so much to a card (but in a subtle way!)!

i'm still trying to sprinkle some christmas card crafty time now, while i have the chance, to make each christmas card special (and so i don't feel rushed when i procrastinate too long!) ha ha! and when i heard tags, i thought - christmas present!

i used an older hero arts set for the cute little kitty image! i paper pieced him and popped him up for fun!

i added some basic grey tiny type (i was inspired by my bff at girlracer scrap who LOVES tiny type!) to the tag and wrapped some lawn fawn twine around 'randomly'! it makes me giggle, because it's sort of silly!

oh yeah, and i spritzed some mr huey's white onto the red cardstock to add an abstract snowy feel! :)
so that's it! hope it made you smile too!
enjoy!

sending good fortunes

today's card features the 'sushi bar' stamp set from the alley way stamps! love that set!
i made this card for the be inspired challenge:

and the young crafters unite - hot trends challenge :)

and the moxie fab world repetition challenge

i had a lot of fun creating this card! i love me some patterned paper!

and the background of the card was created using my awesome chevron dies from my favorite things that danielle over at girlracer scrap got me!!!!
i wanted to keep the background white, but also i felt like the card needed a little extra kick! so white on white chevron it is! :) and i really like the affect!

the fortune cookies are all popped up for dimension, as is the little flower that i colored and then glittered with some awesome icicle stickles! :)

so that's it! simple, crisp and happy! i'm going to run to get it in the mail today to send my grandpa some more happy! he needs as much cheering up as i can send! :)

happy monday!
enjoy!

a scratch and sniff birthday card!

i created my first scratch and sniff card for the most recent challenge at a blog named hero and the gallon, quart pint technique challenge over at the moxie fab world

it's all about embossing, and the video techinique i watched uses heat embossing to create the scratch and sniff! so exciting!! i saw this video on the hero arts facebook page last week, and could not wait to try it out!! and now that i've made one, i can't wait to make more! lol!

here's my card, beware: it's an odd color combination!

orange, purple and cream! what?! well i had to use purple (which i'm really not a fan of...) because i was making this card for my bff in michigan. her favorite color is purple, she loves peach flavored things, and cotton candy! so as you can see...i tailored this card to her completely!

the cotton candy faces were made into the scratch and sniff part with peach flavored jello and clear embossing powder! i even used an action wobble on the big guy there! he's ready to party!

the other one is also popped up, but he can't move! ha ha!
all in all, it was super fun to create and try out a new technique i hadn't done before! :)
hope it brought a smile to your face!
enjoy!

gnome one like you

there is a paper piecing challenge going on over at the sweet stamp shop's flickr group! you had me at paper piecing!

so i made card that i love! and i also kept in mind one of the challenges going on at moxie fab worldincorporating the Gallon/Quart/Pint lesson in an innovative way! it sounded intimidating to me at first, but it's not! and it's such a fun lesson!
my colors are:
gallon - green
quart - red
pint - blue

i used the stamps from the sweet stamp shop's set, 'gnomies', and of course, i love them! you can't go wrong with gnomes in my book! and this one was made for paper piecing!! love it!

i also paper pieced the mushrooms - but i colored in the dots with my white pen! i drew the paper piecing line with those tiny circles on the mushrooms! ha ha!

i flocked the gnomes beard - he he! and the gnome and the smallest mushroom is popped up for dimension. i even used the new pennant die cute from the sweet stamp shop on this card and flanked them with some different sized button hearts. :)

so that's it! just a bright, happy and cheerful card!
enjoy!

ps - i should also mention...when i showed the card to my husband he said, 'gnome-body likes you!! that's so mean!' i was like, no!! you added the 's' to that word, it's 'gnome-body like you!'!! lol!  sigh. :D

back again!

back again!
this time with a card i made for the runway inspired challenge,

the asymmetry challenge over at moxie fab world, and the 10 minute craft dash challenges!

the 10 minute challenge was hard for me, and i had been trying for a while now to make a card in the time limits, but failing! lol!! this time, i was successful though! :) and you can see why...it's pretty c-a-s.

i used this super fun itty bitty stamp from the unity stamp co! i added some pearls to the card too. you know me! i can't keep a card 100% masculine! and i sort of like the duality of the pearls and manliness of this card! :)

the main part of the card was then popped up and adhered to the base of the card.
crisp, clean, and fun! :)
hope it made you smirk! (i can just imagine that dude from the stamp winking and 'shooting' a pointer finger! :) ha ha!)

ps - my husband wanted me to share that he was the inspiration for this card...lol!!
enjoy!

a simple congrats

it's wedensday! and i actually have another card to share! i've been in a slump lately, i can't get motivated to craft - i don't know if it's because of all of the stress that comes with the end of the year or what...any suggesstions to get out of it?? :)
anyway, here is my card:

i created it for two challenges:

Card Creations: Favorite Occasions Congratulations Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and also for the latest color challenge at off the wall craftiness! :) see the color inspiration below:

i decided to use my circle punch and make some offset scallops for the bottom of the card. and then i paper pieced the fab flower stamp (from lawn fawn) and used a found button i had lying around for the center!

it's totally simple, but it could work for a wedding i think?
anyway, enjoy!

like, totally 80's dude

i decided to make this card for the Card Creations: Favorite Occasions Week All Occasion Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. this friendship card is so fun! i totally channelled my inner barbie girl/side ponytail/tight rolled jeans for this challenge! i'm not sure why i decided to go all 80's on this card, but i think it fits! lol

i used fun neon colors for the 80's look. and i masked a square-ish shape with some teal ink, i was going for a graffiti-type look. my favorite part of this card is pink splattered paint! i took some paint from of my little one's paint kits (shh, he's two, he won't mind), and splattered it onto the card with an old toothbrush! fun!

happy monday, material girls!
enjoy!

finally! - some sweater weather!

i was in florida this summer, and let me tell you, it's brutal in the summer!! hot and muggy everyday!! we recently moved to south carolina, and it's pretty much been the same! but today was a little different -a high of 70! alright! now you're talking! i took my little one to a new park i found (which was so rad!) and we stayed there for two hours!! that's how nice it was outside. *sigh*.

which leads me to my card! i was going to post a different card today, but in light of the fantastic day, and cool weather, i decided to post this card instead! it is for the moxie fab world, trigger tuesday challenge (sweater weather!). and since it was also christmas themed (and super cute, if you don't mind me saying!), i'm also going to enter it in the wee memories 'cute holiday' challenge (which i also entered earlier this week *whistle*).

here's the moxie fab, trigger:

a nice, warm, cuddly sweater. :) wouldn't you know i was taught how to kint a last year? ok, so i'm not sure how much i remember, but i do know it was surprisingly fun and fantastic! i found this scrap of when i was learning how to knit, and i thought it would be perfect for a sweater card! i mean, most sweaters are knit! :)

so anyway, in sweater weather, i love to cuddle in a blanket! and who better to cuddle down with than your honey? hence my card!

the sentiment (and the fab stockings which i paper pieced) are from the cozy christmas stamp set at lawn fawn (love it!), and it totally captures how i want to spend the christmas season! :)

i hope this card was able to make you smile! it makes me smile! it's so light and bright and i'm totally digging the happy colors!
enjoy!

a moxie fab and playdate cafe combination

ok, i just thought i'd sneak in another quick card in between unpacking and working since my little man(n) is dreaming up some inspiration for me.

anyway, this card is for two challenges! yahoo! look at me multitasking while multitasking! the perfectly placed pleats challenge in the moxie fab world and the play date cafe color challenge (green, white and melon) were the inspirations for this christmas card. first off, here are the color swatches for the play date cafe:

and here's super duper clean and simple card!

i used a rectangle of textured green cardstock and folded it over and over (think of a fan). then i flattened it out and used my circle punch (but only put the cardstock in halfway) to create the jagged edges (like a holy leaf)! then i had these really great pinky-red buttons for the holly berries!

the sentiment is by lawn fawn (of course! lol!) and it's from the bows and holly stamp set. it's just a really simple card, but i think it does the trick!
enjoy!
