what's shakin?

i had the idea for this card, and it took a couple tries...but i'm finally happy with how it turned out! :)

the card was made for the current challenge over at retro sketches:

fin sketch right? :)
here's my card:

i used the salt & pepper shakers from paper smooches 'alfresco' stamp set. i paper pieced them and popped them up to match the dimension of the shaker cup!

oh yeah, i made a shaker card! lol! i thought it was only fitting since the sentiment has the word 'shake' in it! ha ha! speaking of the sentiment, it was created from...you guessed it! harold's abs's from lawn fawn! :)

i punched all different sized circles for inside the shaker - and i used some sparkly grey paper, which i love for this! since it sort of goes with the salt & pepper shakers! :)

so that's it! hope it made you smile!
enjoy!

couple friends

let me start off by saying that i made this card, and then took about...50 pictures of it...none of which do it justice in my opinion! lol! sigh.

i made it for the current challenge over at cas-ual fridays! it's a color challenge using lime aqua and navy - perfect! that happens to be the color combo of my bed set!! lol!

here's my card...the photogenically-challenged card... :)

i really like it! i was inspired by these cards (which were inspired by jennifer mcguire!)! i was like, what a brilliant idea!! so i wanted to try my hand at it!

on the clear acetate panel in my card, i clear heat embossed the image from unity's itty bitty stamp set, 'everyday, everywhere", i'm LOVING the unity stamps, and i'm considering doing the stamp of the week...anyone familiar with that? input?
anyway, the clear image was then cut out and popped up onto the clear acetate.

then i stamped the custom sentiment with lawn fawn's 'harold's abc's'! of course! i really miss hanging out together with my besties in michigan and their hubbies. we always have fun, and i just miss us being able to be together!  hence the card! :)

i really like how this card turned out!
i hope it brought a smile to your face too! :)
enjoy!

one super fun-gi

somehow i made a masculine-ish card last night! :)
i wanted to use my new itty bitty stamp set 'you're a real fun-gi' - which i LOVE, by the way! for the most recent challenge at retro sketches

i paper pieced all of the mushrooms, and then added some shine and sparkle - i know, not very masculine, but i'm not perfect! :)

i added some red glitter to the heart and some dimension and pop! to the little mushrooms with my white viva pearl pen! :)
the little mushrooms are from the 'forest whimsy' stamp set from paper smooches. some are popped up for dimension.

i really like this card, and it was touch and go there for a while with me! i like how the color is really all in the mushrooms, and the little details are subtle!

happy tuesday!

going for it

we're home! and while we had an excellent time away, we're all happy to be home and get settled into our everyday routine! :) and for me, that means trying to get a little crafty while the little menn are asleep! :)

here's the card i was able to create today, for the latest lawnscaping challenge! LOVE that inspiration photo!

i was really drawn to the colors, especially the little square with the blues, greens and yellows.

my card:
i have to say, i showed my husband, and he was like, oh that's cute, this looks like a card you would give Scrat (from Madagascar). he's hilarious, and we love him - ha ha! so i'm ok with that!

i fussy cut and paper pieced all of these lawn fawn goodies. and the little bush was just trimmed from the top of the tree from the 'critters in the burbs' stamp set. (of course!) i used harold's abc's for the sentiment, and the sun is from 'sunny skies'.
and it all is popped up for dimension!

oh, and please forgive my pictures, i had to use my cell phone - my husband has the camera. he's taking the biggest little mann to his first 'official' ice skating lesson tonight. so excited for him! he's been skating since last summer, but this is his first class. :) what's cuter than a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds on ice skates, right? so he needed the camera. :)

sharing for fun

so i've been away (vacation!!) for a while, but i wanted to share a few projects i made a while ago (mother's day and father's day)!
i saw these pictures on pinterest (love pinterest!) and thought that it would be a piece of cake to turn those sentiments into layouts!
here's the mother's day one:

pinterest inspiration:

layout:

i used (lots) of thickers! and i even paper piced some lawn fawn flowers (from blissful botanicals). my parents love flowers, and my mom's favorite colors are purple and yellow - so that's where the color combination came from! :)

here is the father's day one:

pins-piration:

the layout:

again, i used a lot of thickers! the skate stamp is from unity and i love it!!!! i also had fun with some washi tape! :)
i love the background, because it looks so much like real wood, and my dad is a bit of a woodworker in his spare time! :)

so that's it! just wanted to update and share these projects that i LOVE and that are in frames at my parent's house now! ha ha!

enjoy!

roll on by

here's a quick post - i'm wrapping up work for the night, packing for a trip, and making sure i have everything i need!! ahhh!!
but of course, i had to get a little crafty...i can't make things simple! :)

i had to share the card i made for the unity stamp challenge - summer!! it's my first time playing along, so i'm super excited! :)

i used my 1st ever unity (itty bitty) stamp set that i bought, and i just got it recently too!! i saw it, and i had to have it immediately! the clouds are also itty bitty, but i can't remember what that stamp set is called...love it though! :)

ok, so quickly - the skates and one cloud is popped up for dimension. and that road...is washi tape!!!! i specifically bought that washi tape so i could pair it with these skates! ha ha! i love the skates THAT much!

the skates themselves are paper pieced, and also colored with some tim holtz distress markers.

so that's it! i can totally picture a saved by the bell scene with these skates and a beach! lol

so that's it! hope it made you smile (and maybe reminisce!)
enjoy! :)

a dynamic duo

let me just say real quickly, i love the challenges going on at a blog named hero are so fun to participate in, because they're unique, and they almost always challenge me in some way! which is awesome!!! i made these two cards for their most current challenge - stretch your stamps! :)

the stamp that i used two ways is the envelope pattern background (bog old honking wood stamp!).

the first card i made is one of my favorites! i love the colors, the sentiment and the cas-ness of it! :)

i 'kissed' the background stamp to one of favorite hero arts stamps, the row of houses! i love how it adds texture to the houses! :) each hose was cut out and popped up. then i layered some washi tape towards the top and stamped right on there with the sentiment from sky's the limit. LOVE that red raspberry distress pad from tim holtz! it's SO vibrant!

the second card is a similar layout, but totally different feel! i'm not in love with it, but i do like the color combos. :)

i used the envelope pattern stamp and stamped right on my washi tape! then i stamped the sentiment (from woodland creatures) right on top of that! i also used the envelope pattern on the 'grass' interpretations.

the little raccoon (so cute!) is paper pieced and popped up , along with the little flower. :)

i had a lot of fun with this challenge, and got super inky along the way - always the sign of some fun! :)
enjoy!

let it go

i made this card this morning, before the little menn woke up! i've had this idea in my head for a bit, but i just now was able to make it! it feels good! this card is for the current challenges going on at lawnscaping (use dimension! um...it's my favorite things, so ok!!)

and young crafters unite (many layers). perfect!

i used lawn fawn's 'sunny skies', 'bon voyage' and 'harold's abc's' stamps sets for this card.

the kite and grass are popped up and the whole card is framed with a popped up cut out! the kite is also paper pieced, i can't avoid that habit! lol!

i like the bright colors of this card, and the cool greys of the kite to bring on down. :) i don't know about you all, but sometimes i hold onto things way to long, and when i do finally move on (or 'let it go') i actually feel better! and that's what inspired this card.

i sure hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th! it's totally weird that it's thursday and i have to work...feels like it should be sunday!!

enjoy!
