frosty paws

hey there! thanksgiving is almost here! and it's so exciting to spend the day (or weekend, if you're lucky enough) with family!
today i'm over on the newton's nook blog today sharing a layout i made of my own little furry friend - phoenix! :)

it's hard to tell on a layout, but i acutally used 4 different stamp sets on it! of course the newton with a scarf is from the newton's holiday mischief stamp set! i paper pieced that cute little, bundled up cat and then popped him on an white enamel covered snowflake! :)

i used two different sentiments too. the one stamped directly on the photo is from frozen friends (LOVE stamping on photos - it's like physically making your own instagram, lol!) and the one on the side is from snow day! i also used the paw image from newton's antics! :)

i started the layout by splattering some white mr heuy's on the page and then adding a border strip of navy paper and then strips of washi.
both photos are popped up, and under the paw print one is a little bag with my journaling! :)

this layout is all about when we moved to washington state (in 2007!! i don't scrapbook in order, i scrap on the pictures i'm inspired by at that time. it's totally unorganized and i don't even have a BOOK i keep my pages in, but it helps me keep the creative juices flowing! i get to scrap what i want, when i want! no pressure, because it's just for me, right?! lol) anyway, it was the first time little phoenix had ever experienced snow and he was both curious (duh - cat) and timid. it was so funny to watch him!

so that's it!
hopefully you have a long weekend coming up and you can sneak in some crafy time! if you do, get your newton's nook stamps (or grab the amazing freebies here) and play along in the inky paws challenge! it's fun, easy, and you could win some stamps! score!

enjoy!

inky paws sketch challenge #5

it's time for another inky paws challenge over at the newton's nook blog! the sketch this time is SO fun and absolutely fun to work with!!

i think this sketch is so fun!! and the very first thing i saw when looking at the sketch was a present! so that's what i made! i made my card look just like a present!

i used the cute little puppy stamp from canine christmas and copic colored him in festive colors! i added the sentiment to the tag, too! and the 'to' and 'from' are from the holiday wishes stamp set!

i used some twine to add another color to the card, and also to hang the tag from! the white ribbon is also two pieces that can give the look of a thicker ribbon, with the twine lined down the middle. fun, right?

so that's it! the tag was popped up and finshed the super simple, but still cute card!

now it's your turn to get your creative juices flowing and enter the inky paws challenge! you could win some newton's nook!!
enjoy!

lawnscaping challenge - polka dots

get ready! it's time for a new lawnscaping challenge!
and i'm extra excited because it's also my mom's birthday! ha ha! (happy birthday, mom!)

this new challenge is all about polka dots, pople!!

i think my card is super fun! well, it's a shaped card, so it's got that going for it! lol!

i die cut out the banners and the card base/background. the un-polka dotted base is watercolor paper that i stamped directly on and then colored the image with my distress markers. it's hard to tell they were the distress markers, though! ha ha! not very watercolor-y! :) oops.

i used my sewing machine and sewed along the border a few times and also sewed on the banners (and around the border of the sentiment banner).

add a few pearls, and you got this beaut-e, made for my mom who, really is, so lovely! :)

i actually only used one lawn fawn stamp set for this card...what?! i couldn't even tell you the last time that happened! lol! i used sew lovely (such a pretty and soft set!!)

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release - Frozen Friends

next up with the newton's nook november release is another amazing must-have winter set!!

the snowmen in this set are awwww-dorable!! and i LOVE them all so much! this new set is called frozen friends, and will be ready for purchase november 15th here! :)

my first card is  little love-bug of a card! i stamped the tall snowman image twice and paper pieced them holding hands! awww!! so cute right!! and what could make it cuter?! the little speech bubble from say cheese, i think!! LOOOOVE that speech bubble!!

i added some glitter to the heart with my wink of stella pen and popped up the speech bubble. then i added some enamel dots and glossy accents to their buttons! such a sweet and happy card for the sweet and lovely sentiment!

both images were popped up for dimension. the sentiment was stamped with some staz-on ink onto the wood veneer banner - doesn't it look like that little bird is trying so hard to stay in the air while holding the sentiment?! love it - it totally makes me giggle! i also heat embossed, in white, the beautiful snowflakes from this set! (some of the best little snowflake images ever, i think!) :)

my last card for this release is soooo sweet! it's the lovely little cuddling snowmen! LOOOOOVE them!! i paper pieced these, too and popped them up for dimension. then i placed them on the really fun, silver grid washi tape!

oh, and i forgot to mention that the base of the card is some polka dotted vellum which i sewed onto my card base. i LOOOOVE the effect - it looks like a really soft snow fall! and then a few white sequins finished it off!

today is the first day we're celebrating newton's nook november release!

the set we're featuring today is called snow day and it's SOOO much fun!! think of all your favorite outside winter activities, plus critters!!! you can't lose! :) this new set will be ready for purchase november 15th here! :)

my first card is a lovely winter scene! :) i just HAD to use that snow bear image!! TOOOO cute!! all of the images were paper pieced and i just had to make the little bear's nose a light beige, like his nose was sticking out of the snowman! lol! so fun!

both image were popped up for dimension. the sentiment was stamped with some staz-on ink onto the wood veneer banner - doesn't it look like that little bird is trying so hard to stay in the air while holding the sentiment?! love it - it totally makes me giggle! i also heat embossed, in white, the beautiful snowflakes from this set! (some of the best little snowflake images ever, i think!) :)

my next card, is really fun!! (and perhaps my favorite from the whole release!)
i used the amazing slider card tutorial from the NND blog (you can find it here) and created this FUN, ice skating penguin card!

the penguin was also paper pieced and the sentiment was created with combining the sentiments from this set and also winged wishes. i also put a few snowflakes from this set onto the background of the card in a warm grey ink. LOVE how that looks!

and here's a little video showing the penguin in action! it's so fun!! :)

my card is featuring the stamp set, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum! LOOOOOVE that set! all of those little toy images are just too cute for words!!

the background of the card was created with a stencil and some embossing paste! so FUN! i LOVE how it looks like sound waves coming from that cute litle drum!! i colored in the drum set with copics and then added the whtie base over some green striped paper from the into woods 6x6 pad. SO awesome that you can use all of lawn fawn's paper year round! the sentiment was then stamped onto an image from bannerific

i used som really FUN dies for the waves of the ocean. the 2nd layer of the ocean is popped up for dimension. the cute little whale was colored with some copics and then i added the teeny tiny santa hat from the little fish in the same stamp set (sea-son's greetings! BEST and most unique christmas set out there! lol!) and i used that as the line of the waves and the whale for the line and bow of the sketch! :)

lawnscaping challnege - a standout sentiment

hello, it's monday!
and it's time for a new lawnscaping challenge
this challenge...deep breath, sam...is all about making your sentiment shine out!

HELLO! i don't think i could love this challenge more...me + harold's abc's = almost every card i make! lol! :)
so *ahem* i was excited for this challenge, to say the least! :)

i used a lawn fawn stamp set that i hadn't used in a loooong time, so i'm super happy about that! i used the 'future is bright' stamp set that was made exclusively for a studio calico kit. and also bannerific and...of course, harold's abc's.

i stamped the lightbulb image onto vellum and then cut it out and stuck it to the white woograin paper from simon says stamp (love that paper! so much texture!).

for the sentiment, i popped up the banner and then stamped the beginning with versamark (to get into all those woograin nook and crannies) directly on the background. then i popped the whole woodgrain panel up over some diaganol striped washi!

the card was finished by sewing a few lines on the top and bottom and then added some pearls.

and vwa-la!
for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)

get your patterned paper on and you could win a gift certificate to simon says stamp! hello!!

so, enjoy!
