inky paws challenge #7 - go green!

hey there! it's friday - we made it through the week!!
insert crowd applause here!

and today is extra special because it's the start of another inky paws challenge on the newton's nook blog! :)

this time is all about the color green!!
green is awesome! so i was super excited to play along! :)

i used the newton in a box image from newton's antics and paper pieced him. then i added some shading with copics and popped it up for dimension!

i used the super fn star ribbon and a metal camera paper clip to add some fun and whimsy! the sentiment was created by combining tiny text and some fun masking from the stamp set boo crew! oh! and i almost forgot to mention! the background of the grey panel was sprayed with some really fun shimmer mist from tsukineko! it's sooooo pretty!! lol!

so now it's your turn! get your four leaf clovers out, drink a shamrock shake, and then get your newton's nook stamps out!
i can't wait to see what you create!
enjoy!

a rockin birthday

ok, so here i am with a quick post!
i have been wanting to play around with some new stamps i got in the mail from avery elle
such CUTE stamps!!
and the very first AEI♥U challenge is going on now, so what better reason to get these bad boys inked up! :)

so here is my birthday card...inspired by the all of the loud, rockin' little menn in my life! lol! :)

so fun right!!
i saw the drum set and i KNEW i had to use it as part of the sentiment from fill in the blank stamp set!
the Y and U were first stamped with grey, and then stamped over with a partially inked up red! fun look, right? then i went over it with some wink of stella pen! now, because the inks i used were distress inks, and then i used the wink of stella pen, it has a totally cool look! i mean, it looks like it could be rough like sand paper where the glitter is, but it's totally smooth! LOVE it! perfect for this boy-y card! :)

the drum set is from we go together (LOOOOOOOOVE this set!!!!!!!!) and i colored it in copics and popped it up! i HAD to!!

then i added a vellum rocker hand (duh!) and a vellum music note at the bottom!
the rest of the sentiment was created by masking the words from fill in the blank!

so that's it!
off to bed with me! ha!
enjoy!

like a boss - a newton's nook layout

hey there!
how is everyone doing today? i'm battling a bit of a late winter cold...but i'll power through! :)

today i'm over on the newton's nook blog! and i'm sharing this super fun, super colorful, and super bossy layout! :)

a few weeks ago i caught my cat making himself home on my craft table! scoot over markers, cutting board, paper and ribbon! phoenix is here! lol! he ddin't care what was there, as long as there was enough room for him to slide in. :)

i used a bunch of different newtons stamps for this layout! 2 of the kitties (and the paw prints) are frm newton's antics (LOOOOOOOVE that set!!) and then i used the little speech bubble from say cheese (my go to speech bubble! lol!)! in my mind, it is reminiscent of a purr!

i even put newton hanging onto a polaroid frame - that newton is from newton's holiday mischief! (NOT just for holidays anymore!).

add a little (read: a lot) of washi, some wood veneers and some vellum - and this layout is complete!
i LOVE scrapbooking with stamps - do you scrapbook? leave me a comment below - i would LOVE to check out what you have made! i'm always jones-ing for some good scrapbook blogs to follow! :)

head over to the newton blog and see what else is new! they just released 3 brand new stamp sets last week!! and they're awesome!!
enjoy!

very vellum with sweet stamp shop

this is my 2nd post for today, so if you're looking for my newton's nook release and giveaway post - click here! :)

hello there!
today i'm over on the sweet stamp shop blog! and i'm talking about the different looks that using ribbon, twine and stitching from a sewing machine can give you! :) all of my cards feature images and sentiments from the yummy love stamp set!

my frist card is using some ribbon!

so pretty right!!
besides the fact that i had the hardest time tying this bow...sigh...i like how it turned out!

it's super feminine and totally adorable!! i love the soft vibe the ribbon provides of the card! and the yellow ombre just looks so pretty under the vellum banner! :)

next up, is some twine!

totally different look, isn't it? i LOVE it! i think it helps make the card lean more towards the masculine side, but still works for anyone! love twine! (and it's so much easier to make a bow! ha ha!

and the green watercolored ombre is so cool! love it!

lastly, i made a card and stitched the vellum on with my sewing machine!

another different look and vibe! it's much more clean lined and modern...? contemporary...? i don't know the right term! ha ha! anyway, you can see how the straight stitched lines are no nonsense and blend in more than the other two!

and i think the red watercolors blended the best!

so that's it! what's your favorite look? i would love to know! head on over to the sweet stamp shop blog and see the post there!
enjoy!

my 2nd card is my favorite!! i love it!!

look at newton floating on that rogue balloon!! so cute, right!! all of the images were colored with copics.

little newton's hands were popped up for dimension so it looked like he was holding the baloons! :) the rest of the balloons are dies and i tied a little thread tail to all of them! :)

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Tweet Talk

it's day 2 of the february release for newton's nook! i'm so excited! i LOVE this mini set!

i think this set is so FUN and versatile! and those little bird and house images are perfect for cards, scrapbooking, and any PL type albums!! and the good news is they'll be available for purchase february 21st here! :)

you know me, i made two cards! my first card is a super sweet card! :) i was channeling my innter valentine when i made it, i think!! lots of pinks and reds! :)

all of the images were paper pieced, and those cute little birds were popped up for dimension! i was totally inspired by this pink woodgrain paper and knew i had to use it with this set!

and just a few kraft colored sequins finished it off!

my second card is so fun, too!! LOVE it!!

i stamped the houses in various shades of grey papers and then used some copics to add some shading here and there to them! then the bird's house was paper pieced brightly!! and i even added some shading with my copics too!

then i popped it up for dimension and enclosed it in a vellum frame with a sweet stamped bow on it! :)
i just LOVE these colors together, and it really feels like a fun card! :)

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Winston's Birthday

yahoo!! how about some newton's nook release posts to brighten up your week! today starts day (of 3!) releases!  newton's nook

i think this set is so FUN and versatile! and those little foodie images are perfect for cards, scrapbooking for PL type albums!! and the good news is they'll be available for purchase february 21st here! :)

i had SO much fun with this set! it's just adorable - winston is starring in his very own stamp set!

my first card is him holding a sweet as can be cupcake! both the cupcake and his arms are popped up for dimension, so it looked like he was actually holding it! but uh-oh, it looks like he was late to the party! ha ha!

i just loved creating this scene with the party hat and decorations on the floor! the sentiment was added on a woodgrain banner with some sewing machine thread as a bow to hold all the wonky layers in place! so fun!!

my next card was REALLY fun to make!
we all know i'm a vellum fiend...i can't help it! well for this card i tried using embossing paste on vellum!! LOVE it!

first i tinted my embossing paste with some light blue mist and then i used my diaganol stencil to add it to the vellum! so fun!!

the vellum was sewn onto the cardstock! for winston's arm to hang from the balloon, i just did some fun cutting and used the fish to hide where his other arm showed! it really was fun to make this card!

lawnscaping challenge - dust 'em off!

mid-february already!! gone are the pink and red decorataions! hello green and white and shamrock shakes!! lol!
it also means there's a new lawnscaping challenge!
this challenge is all about using a lawn fawn product that you forgot about, or don't use very often! it's hard to believe such a thing exists with lawn fawn! but it does! lol!

i LOVE anything lawn fawn - but sometimes, i just can't get the mojo flowing for certain stamp sets! lol! for example - sharp backdrops! i LOVE it! it's bold and graphic and trendy and awesome!

and i have never used it! lol!! until today!

i inked it up with some versamark ink all over the background panel of my card. then i heat embossed it in clear and painted over the whole thing in a rainbow pattern with my mists!! so FUN! :)

i decided to use the critters ever after set...what's better than a rainbow mythical creatures mashup, right?the sentiment was also heat embossed, but this time in white over some vellum and the the little unicorn was just too cute and perfect with a rainbow background to pass up! i even added a touch of wink of stella glitter to the horn!

so that's it! and as you can see, my love affair with vellum continues! :)

for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

(it uses what is becoming one of my new FAVORITE sets from lawn fawn!)

i used the happy feast stamp set and colored the corn in some lovey-dovey colors with my copics! :) (pink husks on the corn makes me smile! ha ha!)

i pieced the sentiment together with the two speech bubbles from the a birdie told me stamp set! i love this! it makes me laugh and smile (yellow, pinks and greys happen to be some of my all time favorite color combinations!) and i can't wait for my little mann to open this card!
spoiler alert: i already know what he's going to say, he's 5 and thinks he knows everything! he's going to say 'corn is not pink! why did you color it pink?' lol! sigh. hopefully he'll laugh anyway! :)

sweet stamp shop's february release!

hey there!
it's another 'snow' day here in south carolina! kind of crazy - especially since there's no actual snow! oh well! it's another day i get to be home with my little menn! :)

another reason to celebrate and snuggle down with a hot cup of hot chocolate (or coffee? or tea?)? it's the sweet stamp shop's february release today!! 4 brand new sets are available for purchase RIGHT NOW! but you better snatch them up fast! a little birdie told me they're already close to selling out!! what?! and here's why: THEY'RE ADORABLE!

i was able to work with 2 sets and here is the first one, along with my cards. hold on to your cuteness people...here's stuck on you!

eek! i know! too cute to stand! ha ha! and the sentiment gets me - go hammer go hammer go! lol! and the cactus - i die! LOVE this set!

here' are a few cards i made with this set:

first i had to make a cute little couple and 'stick' them in a polaroid frame! lol! the are paper pieced and embellished with some of the accessories from another set being released today!

i love the fun colors against the grey! pinks and yellows and greens, oh my!

but the cactus doesn't have to be green right? i decided to make a valentine's card and to make the cute as can be cactus pink! aww!!

ha ha! the sentiment was heat embossed (the word 'valentine' is from the previously released just the basics stamp set!) i LOVE how well these sets all work together!

then i stamped the heart image with my glue pad and added lots of glitter and glossy accents! :)

my last card for this set is super fun and easy! but i love the bright, bold colors!

i just love the white sequins to finish it off! for this one i didn't use the top bump of the cactus - and i just love it! it reminds me of a kid rocking out to a song! lol!

i colored the image with my copics then popped it up for dimension! the sentiment was  stamped onto a vellum banner and that i inked up with some distress inks!

the next stamp set being released is called too hip...and people - this set is INCREDIBLE! ha ha! so cute! check it out:

i could have made 1000 cards with this set! but to start, (and for the release) i only made 3! lol!
for my first card, i just wanted to show how well the accessories in this set work with the rest of the newly released sets from the past few months!

i used the strawberries from the yummy love set and dapper-ed them up for a super hip party! love thise bowties! and it's hard to tell, but they're actually glittered (along with the wood veneer stars) with my wink of stella pen!

i just love the little converstaion they're having (the speech bubble is from the foxy stamp set)!

next up is a pretty straight forward representation of this set - i HAD to use the hippo!! he's just too cute!! he's totally hip! i used some embosing paste (tinted grey per my mini-tutorial here) for the background.

i totally tried to make that hippo as cool as can be!! he's totally hip!! LOVE it!!

there's lots of dimension and texture happening on that simple card!

my last card is probably my favorite - i mean...it's the CUTEST washing machine ever!! ha ha! and he's all ready for work!

i used the accessories (hello toupee!!!!!) and spiffied him up! i imagine with that red/black tie that he's an engineer, so i added some math-y washi tape and silver mist splatters on the card!

seriously - i LOVE this card!

so that's the release people! and there's a new release sale going on - be sure to check it out on the sweet stamp shop blog!

and while you're there - you may notice it's a brand new blog!!! new look! new location! new style! i LOVE it!
enjoy!
