Inky Paws Challenge #20 - Sketch

hiya!
today starts a new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook blog! :)
and we're using a sketch!! whoop whoop!!

i created a very 'April showers' type of card, since that's what it has been doing here for a few weeks - RAINING! ha ha!

i used the adorable Spring Showers stamp set and colored the image in with copics! I actually colored in the umbrella and boots in twice, and then popped them up for some dimension on the image!

i LOVE that raindrop patterned paper! i had been hoarding it for a while (*whistle* look away)! i decided to add just a touch of some embossing paste with a stencil to add more raindrops. hello texture!

the sentiment was heat embossed onto the vellum banners, and some twine finished off the card!
are you ready to play along? i can't wait to see what everyone makes!
head over to the Newton's Nook blog to read all of the details! :)
enjoy!

feeling flirty

good morning!
today i have a card on the Newton's Nook blog featuring some fun and the adorable Flirty Flamingos stamp set! :)

ha ha!
i love alliteration! :)

ok, so i colored the cute little summer guy with copics and then popped him up on the background.
the background was SO fun to make!

i added some watercolor to the background with peacock feathers distress ink, and then stamped the waves from Beach Party in the same ink color for some tone on tone water action! :)

lastly, i added some coordinating enamel dots (i'm STILL not sick of enamel dots! ha ha! are you over them?) and added just a strip of some summer sun yellow text cardstock to the side! :)

so that's my card - up in all it's summery glory on the Newton's Nook Blog, too!
enjoy!

lawnscaping challenge #104 - sketch!

good morning!

today is a brand new Lawnscaping Challenge! and this time, we're using a sketch! i LOVE sketches!

i had a lot of fun creating my card (read: i made about 4 different backgrounds and had 4 different ideas before i finally settled on this one! ha!)! and i used the adorable and new Wheelie Like You stamp set!
that hamster?! eeeeeee!!

to create the background, i used two different stencils and some embossing paste! then once the embossing paste was dry, i placed the stencils back on top and lightly watercolored on some distress ink to add a subtle bit of color! I used antique linen for the two areas, and spun sugar for the other area.

i stamped and colored the hamster and wheel and fussy cut them and popped them up! hello dimension! then i used a vellum die cut circle and lots of reckless stitching! ha!! finally i threw in some wadded up thread behind the vellum circle and splattered with black mist! THE END!
this was so much fun to make!

for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

i really had a TON of fun with this set!
on my first card, i used some watercolor with distress inks to create my background!
(shocking, i know! ha!)

isn't it great though?! i LOOOOVE those two shades of green! i used shabby shutters and mowed lawn! i love that it really plays into the sentiment too!!

the sentiments on this set really ARE AWESOME! they are so sweet and lovely! some of my favorite ever!

on my 2nd card, i used Winston and copic colored him with that cute little watering can and flower! how could i resist such an image?!

i popped up the watering can and the flower and pop to add some dimension, and then used some white embossing paste and a stencil to create the sun rays! the sentiment was stamped onto some vellum that i colored yellow with distress inks and stapled!

then i added some yellow enamel dots and splatters to add to the sunny-ness of all! :)

sweet stamp shop april release!

the Sweet Stamp Shop released their new April sets on wednesday!
and they are INCREDIBLE!!

you can see all of the new sets here!

i LOVE them all!
i know i'm not alone when i say the Unicorn stamp set is my all time favorite!
anyone who knows me...knows i LOVE unicorns! ha! so i had to make a card with that image first!

i colored the unicorn with copics and then fussy cut her out! i turned the sentiment into a banner and backed it with some vellum before attaching it to my card by stitching it on!

i wanted the bottom to look like clouds, so i put some light grey glitter paper on the bottom of my card. and then used a glue gun to attach some white ribbon LOOSELY on top!
i LOOOOOOOVE how the glitter paper peaks out!

the 2nd card i made for this release uses the super adorable bears from Beary Much!

love love love those bears!
i colored them with copics and then did some selective cutting to make it look like the big bear is holding up the little one to reach the butterflies! ha!

i colored the butterflies in a pink/red gradient over a blue watercolored sky! finally i layered that panel over some patterned papers and attached it to my card!

the rest of the team made AMAZING cards, too! it's such a great release! planner sets! punny sets! and cute sets! there's something for everyone!

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Fanciful Florals

We're smack in the middle of the April RELEASE week for Newton's Nook Designs! i just LOVE release weeks!

today, the whole DT is showcasing the new, all gorgeous, all LOVELY Fanciful Florals stamp set!! don't you just LOVE this set? it's sooooo cute! i can't wait to play and play and play with these solid floral images! you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on April 17th, right here!

for my first card, i wanted to try something a little bit different!

on some patterend paper, i added some watercolor affects with Abandoned Coral and Mustard Seed. LOVE when those two colors blend! once it was dry, i heat embossed the floral images in clear and then fussy cut them out!

to make the lines show a little for each flower, i rubbed some white ink over my images and really worked the ink into the non-embossed parts! the effect is subtle, but SO pretty! really, i wish you could see it in real life!

i finished the card off by stitching the flowers and some vellum onto my card and popped it up over some wonky washi!

my second card is also really fun!

i used the hello sentiment and created my own text background! FUN!

then on some white cardstock, i heat embossed the flowers with yellow and pink embossing powder! i just love how the colored 'blend' in a way! it's not perfect, but it's FUN! the pops of color of the grey make me happy! :)

lawnscaping challenge #103 - dimension

i am so ready to start this week!
i know, that's a crazy sentence for a monday. but come on, there's a new Lawnscaping Challenge! and this is a really FUN one! ha! i LOVE it!

that's right! pull out all of your dimensional stops...we're talking foam tape, paper layers, texture, make us want to touch your project! ha!

like i said, i had FUN with this challenge...i think you'll agree:

he he he!! (see? fun is even in the sentiment!)
i stamped and cut out the swing, bird and posts 5 times. 5 TIMES. it was the first time i had used Let's Play...and boy, did i use it!
side note - this card would have been a breeze to create, if i had the dies. sigh.

anywho, then i colored a layer and adhereed them all together to make it nice and thick!
i think you can see, i also cut out the base of the card so that that cute little birdie could actually swing!

yes! i used actual thread to connect the swing to the rest of the set!
the grass was punched with vellum and then i added some shabby shutters distress ink to one and mowed lawn (because "lawn" is SO perfect for this card for a multitude of reasons!) on the other layer of grass. i heat embossed the sentiment!

oh, and that yellow - that's some awesome watercoloring. it was actually slightly painful to cut up. i really liked how it came out.
oh well!

so that's my cardare you ready to play along?
for even more inspiration (if you can stand it!), check out the lawnscaping facebook page! we're dedicated to keeping your creative juices flowing! :)

this week we're sponsored by a brand new sponser for the Lawnscaping Challenge - Ellen Hutson! so get your card making on, and you could win a $25 gift certificate! hello!! :)
