meowy christmas

i made this christmas card for a friend of mine at work (who helps me get through each day with pictures of kittens and funny stories! lol!)
i am entering it in the current challenge over at young crafters unite - which is all about creating holiday cards!

i used three lawn fawn sets: harold's abc's - critters in the burbs, and bows and holly. and i LOVE how it came out!! i wanted to keep it and just look at it, ha ha!!

i paper-pieced and colored the cats to look (as close as i could get them too!) her little cats! i even did a little tiny bit of coloring to one of them to add the right patches of color! the mistletoe i really DID color all of! and i think it made the card because it's so vibrant! i didn't use copics (i only have 5 of those bad boys! lol!) i also added some stickles to the little berries for some bling, and a teensy, tiny dab of glassy accents to the noses of the kitties!! lol!

the custom sentiment i made is what really brings it all together! lol! i showed it to my husband, and he just rolled his eyes! lol! but it's going to be perfect for my friend!!

hope you are starting out the work week on a good note! i can only hope that this week goes by fast!
enjoy!

totally busted!

i LOVE the colors for the latest challenge at young crafters unite! warm and cozy and wonderful! :)

today i'm sharing a layout i created, inspired by those colors! it was so fun to scrap these pictures because in these pictures he is exactly the same age as the littlest mann is today!!
and in true 15 month old form, it's all about T-R-O-U-B-L-E! :) ha ha!!

here's my layout!

i used lots of warm oranges and browns, and even threw some red in there here and there for fun! (i really like the accents of red!). the frames were actually plain wood that i covered in woodgrain washi tape! :) fun!
i used lots of different paper smooches stamps sets here (giddy bugs, alphadots, fruitastic, perpetual bliss and sppokalicious)! this was my very first attempt at layering...it's a little clunky, but that's ok!
i added a heart to the lens of the camera and added some glossy accents to make it shine! then i fussy cut out the letter 'i' from the smile word in patterned paper for a little fun! :)

i love that owl! i think he's making the exact same face as the little mann there!! a little deer in headlights action at being totally busted!

so that's really it! lots of layers, lots of washi and lots of love!
totally warms my heart to remember my (now!) 4 year old this way! crazy!

enjoy! and hope everyone had a good halloween!! on to november!! :)

let it snow

i made this card for the challenge going on over at young crafters unite, which is all about trying a technique you've never done (or one of your favorite techniques!). so i chose to make a style of card that i usually don't do, in a technique that i've never done! this card is totally out of my norm! :)

i used the new 'let it snow' set from lawn fawn, which is adorable! it's just not as quirky as i usually go! :) ha ha!

i have never distressed a whole background before with distress inks! so i had a BLAST doing this (and my now blue, teal and purple fingers are proof of that! ha!)! then after i added the ink, i flicked some water onto it! yeah!! laurel beard has done it many times and each time i see her cards with this technique, i'm inspired!! the card that really got me interest in trying this particular water flicking technique is this one - i mean, look at that house!!!! just so cool.

so anyway, i used shaded lilac, peacock feathers and salty ocean distress inks to create my winter background. i just think the flicked water makes it look like subtle little snowflakes! then i stamped the forest scene in white, which i think adds to the nostalgia and quietness of the scene! :)
i don't know if you would call this a CAS card, it sort of is, i think! :) ha ha!

so anyway, that's it! :) i made a lot of other projects this weekend, and i hope to post them this week as well! it was a great crafty weekend! :) i hope you all were able to get crafty too! i can't wait to see what you make!
enjoy!

sending good fortunes

today's card features the 'sushi bar' stamp set from the alley way stamps! love that set!
i made this card for the be inspired challenge:

and the young crafters unite - hot trends challenge :)

and the moxie fab world repetition challenge

i had a lot of fun creating this card! i love me some patterned paper!

and the background of the card was created using my awesome chevron dies from my favorite things that danielle over at girlracer scrap got me!!!!
i wanted to keep the background white, but also i felt like the card needed a little extra kick! so white on white chevron it is! :) and i really like the affect!

the fortune cookies are all popped up for dimension, as is the little flower that i colored and then glittered with some awesome icicle stickles! :)

so that's it! simple, crisp and happy! i'm going to run to get it in the mail today to send my grandpa some more happy! he needs as much cheering up as i can send! :)

happy monday!
enjoy!

oh crab

i'm so excited to share this card! i made if for the challenge at young crafters unite: buttons!

i'm so excited because i like how this card came out, and i actually jazzed up the inside too!
here it is:

i used the buttons like bubbles, and echoed that with the circle i punched out. it's supposed to be 'under the sea-y' :) ha ha!

the crab and sentiment are from paper smooches 'chubby chum pals' stamp set. he was just stamped and cut out. i colored in the eyes and the mouth with my white gel pen. LOVE that thing! :)

then...inside...!!! it's my favorite part! because it continues the sentiment from the front of the card, and it's a whole new scene!! ha ha!

say it with me!!!
oh crab, that sucks!! i could totally see myself saying (a version!) of that to my best friends! lol!

i paper pieced the vacuum from the 'squeaky clean' stamp set...perhaps my new favorite image! i used the 'beige' paper strip on the bottom to represent carpet, since most of my carpet is boring beige! lol

i just think this card would be great to send to someone who's having a rough time, and needs some cheering up! :) it makes me giggle!
hope it made you chuckle too!
enjoy!

let it go

i made this card this morning, before the little menn woke up! i've had this idea in my head for a bit, but i just now was able to make it! it feels good! this card is for the current challenges going on at lawnscaping (use dimension! um...it's my favorite things, so ok!!)

and young crafters unite (many layers). perfect!

i used lawn fawn's 'sunny skies', 'bon voyage' and 'harold's abc's' stamps sets for this card.

the kite and grass are popped up and the whole card is framed with a popped up cut out! the kite is also paper pieced, i can't avoid that habit! lol!

i like the bright colors of this card, and the cool greys of the kite to bring on down. :) i don't know about you all, but sometimes i hold onto things way to long, and when i do finally move on (or 'let it go') i actually feel better! and that's what inspired this card.

i sure hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th! it's totally weird that it's thursday and i have to work...feels like it should be sunday!!

enjoy!

well it's true!

this is the 2nd project i made while danielle visited me this weekend!!
it's card for the current challenge going on at young crafters unite - clear cards!!

at first i was like, what?! i can't do that! but then i did! and it was a blast!

i used some of danielle's stamps from market street stamps, and let me tell you...the images were soooooo cute!! but which one did i choose to work with?? the mosquito!!! lol! oh well, that set is definately on my wish list!!

here's my card:

i just love the sentiment! lol!!

i used my circle nestabilities and made a circle card with my acetate 'paper'. then i used the same nestability die to shape the 'sky' and 'grass'.

i just used a dot of my viva pen for the middle of the bow, and then i used some clear glossy effects for the mosquito's wings!

it was pretty quick, but i just love it!! i already want to make more to send to more people! lol!!

enjoy!
