Newton's Nook Designs and WOW embossing powders are collaborating all week long to offer you inspiration using their products together! Both design teams will be sharing fun ways to use embossing powders on your projects using WOW embossing powders paired with Newton's Nook Designs stamps!
I'm so excited for this collaboration!
I decided to try to push myself, and use embossing powders in a unique way than I usually do!
my first card is totally not my style, but I really like how it came out!
right?!
no critters!!! no smiling, blushing cheeks!! ha!!!
I used the gorgeous Primary Purple Orchid embossing powder for the outlines of the blooms, and the sparkly Under the Sea embossing glitter powder for the leaves! all of the images are from the beautiful Peony Blooms stamp set!
then I used coordinating colors from Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color in the images! it's *ALMOST* like no-line coloring!! ha ha ha!!
then I used the corresponding dies to die cut everything out!
for the background, I used Vintage Champagne embossing glitter powder and the Tree Rings Stencil to add a little extra sparkle and texture to the background!
you can't tell, but the background started off as a light piece (kind of light beige) of cardstock. then I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add some ink blending and a darker color!
then I used the Frames & Flags Die Set to add the fun scalloped border!
I finished off by adding the sentiment, which was heat embossed in white onto vellum, and then popped it up!
see? really pretty! also...super not my style! lol!
oh well!
to be honest, my second card is *also* my style, but hey! it has Distress Inks and splatters, so what more do you want from me! lol!
soooo pretty, right!?
I used the Evergreens Stencil and lots of my Versamark Ink pad for embossing! ha!
I started by pressing my embossing ink pad through the stencil and then using the Primary Purple Orchid embossing powder. once that was heat set, I selectively chose trees with the stencil (and made masks to cover the purple trees), pressed my ink pad through, then sprinkled on the Earthtone Pepper color!
again, I heat set that, and then used Milled Lavendar Distress Oxide Inks ink blend a light color through the stencil.
I heat set that (even though it didn't have any powder, just because I didn't want the next color to stick to the Oxide inks.
again, I used masks over the already done trees, and then used the goooorgeous Vintage Champagne embossing glitter powder for the final set of trees!
then I used Distress Oxide Inks (Seedless Preservers, Milled Lavendar, Iced Spruce and Antique Linen) in the corresponding tree colors to fill in the 'in-between' spaces of the trees!
I splattered a toni of white acrylic ink on top, and then heat set the sentiment!
I combined phrases from the Sentiments of the Season stamp set and heat embossed them in white onto vellum!
again I popped up the sentiment, and then added a line of gold stitching to the top of the card, and some champaign colored sequins to add some shine to the snow!
whew!
so those are my two cards!
There are more amazing projects today over on the WOW blog so pop over there for more inspiration!
