wow, day 3 of newton's nook's release for september is here! are you loving the release so far!?
all of the new sets will be available for purchase on September 19th, here!
today we're sharing the Spooky Street! this is a totally different style for Newton's Nook, and i love it!!! it screams halloween, and i think that's awesome!! (even though i'm totally more of a cutesy halloween girl myself! these images can be dressed up and made less spooky! :) ha ha!)
this set is SO fun!! it's perfect for creating scenes, clean and simple or one layer cards! i made a lot of ALMOST one layer cards for this one! luckily they're not ALL one layer (one layer cards scare me! lol!)
my first card was inspired by a canvas i saw on pinterest!
well, first i created the background with distress paints (seedless preserves, peacock feathers and chipped sapphire) and water and MESS!! lol, my hands were a mess when i finished with this card, but i loved the background, so it was all worth it! :)
a simple strip of washi on the side of the card finished it off! :)
my second card was done with similar colors (but not exactly!), and with distress inks instead of stains!
(i used distress inks: evergreen bough, seedless perserves and chipped saphire)
i stamped the house twice in seedless preserves and then spritzed liberally with water to make the color tun. and then when it was dry, i stamped the house one more time on top to make it stand out! the bats were stamped 3 times with chipped sapphire!
then i created rest of the background by apply evergreen bough and chipped sapphire distress inks around the edges and flicking with water (which i later regretted...it was so pretty with out the water marks...oh well)

Cool backgrounds, definitely worth of the mess (of course, I don't have to walk around with inky fingers the next few days, wink). I especially love the sequin leaves - such a neat idea, looks terrific! ~ Meredith
