Inky Paws Challenge #33 - Ombre

hello and happy friday!

today starts the new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook blog!
and this week, we're talking about ombre!

oh yeah!
i decided to bring in the ombre with a watercoloed background! and it was SO easy to make!

i squished a few Distress Ink colors onto my craft mat (Carved Pumpkin, Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemonade) and then spritzed it all with water. then i just pressed my card front on top of it and there you go! so fun!!
i also added some stars with embossing paste and a stencil for a little extra fun!

i watercolored the kangaroos from Hoppy Days with Distress Markers and i just think they're SO cute!
i heat embossed part of the sentiment and then stamped the other part directly onto the card front. so sweet!

please join along in the fun and play with color for your own Inky Paws creation! you could win some Newton's Nook of your own!
enjoy!

meow you doing?

**this is my 2nd post of the day! to see my Lawnscaping Challenge card, scroll down or click here!**

i don't care how much time passes, i'll always think of Joey from Friends when i hear 'how you doin?' ha ha!! so fun!
so whenever i see the Newton Unwinds stamp set, i can't help but giggle!

today i have this card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog using just that set!

i watercolored the image with Distress Markers, and then popped it up!
i used some embossing paste and a polka dotted stencil to create a little white on white texture, first!

i heat embossed the sentiment in white, onto a strip of black cardstock, and then overlaid that on top of that cute hot pink yarn ball! a tiny strip of washi at the bottom finished the card!
be sure to check out the Newton's Nook Designs blog daily for inspiration and news!
enjoy!

Lawnscaping Challenge #132 - Distress Mania

so excited! it's a Lawnscaping Challenge! it's a new week! what's not to love about today?

i am so in LOVE with the new Flamingo Together stamp set! and truth be told, i already have a bunch of flamingos already colored up in varying shades of pink! but then it hit me...i can make them swans!

eeeee! right? I watercolored the 'swans' with Distress Markers and then fussy cut them out. the background was created by using two panels of white cardstock. first, i used Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks blended together. on the other one, i used Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon to blend together. then I die cut the wave shapes using the Ocean Wave Borders die

i used Spun Suger, Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade for the sunset! and then i sprinkled water over it all!

the top wave is popped up for dimension. and then i stamped the sentiment from the adorable, mini, Believe in Yourself stamp set! :)

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

here's my 1st card:

i did some distress ink blending in nice, warm colors in yellows and pinks and then stamped the phrases in black on the blending background!
then i used the Garden Window Die cut to create the rectangle window, and popped the blended/stamped background behind it!

i colored the cat to resemble a Siamese cat with copics! :) love him!

and for my 2nd card, i used the Darling Hearts Die as a mask:

i used some Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to create the soft background and then removed the heart mask! then i splattered some water and also some wet Tumbled Glass from a paint brush to add some more fun!

i heat embossed the sentiment on some black cardstock! then i stamped and fussy cut out the ribbon!

i also used the Mouster stamp set to create a fun card to share with someone who is celebrating something!!

i just those cute little guys!!
i used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to create the soft, background, and then splattered some water on top! once that was done, i also splattered some more Squeezed Lemonade on top! so fun!!!

those little mice were colored with Distress Markers, and i just LOVE that little guy eating the cookie!

lastly, i used the adorable Bubble Alpha stamp set to create this bold, bright and happy card!!

i heat embossed the letters in black onto white cardstock to make them pop!
the background was created with watercolor paper and Ken Oliver Color Bursts!! LOVE that splatter!

i stamped the banners from Track It onto vellum, and stapled them onto the card front for a 'school supply' look!

Newton's Nook Designs June Release - Vegetable Garden

we're really rocking through this week!
we're already at day 3 of Newton's Nook Designs June Release

today, the whole DT is showcasing the gorgeous, summer-y and floral Vegetable Garden stamp set! i'm totally digging the garden theme this week!! (get it...digging...? ha ha!)

you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on June 17th, right here!

for my 1st card, i decided to make a little bit of a baby card:

aw! so sweet! i love the almost, mono-chromatic feel of the teals and greens!

i colored the images with copics, fussy cut them out, and then attached them to the card base! i heat embossed the sentiment and then popped that up!

and for my 2nd card, i combined a few older sets to make a totally pun-tastic saying:

first, i colored the tomatoes and then fussy cut them out! the Tag Times Two die was colored with Distress Ink (Twisted Citron) and then i spritzed some water on top! i masked off phrases from both the Vegetable Medley and Wild about Zoo stamp sets to create the pun! ha!!

for the background, i die cut the word smile a bunch, and then used it as a stencil with some embossing paste! i love the white on white texture!

Newton's Nook Designs June Release - Flower Garden

happy tuedsay!
and welcome to day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs June Release

today, the whole DT is showcasing the gorgeous, summer-y and floral Flower Garden stamp set! this is another, absolutely gorgeous floral set! it's divine!

you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on June 17th, right here!

my 1st card is probably one of my most favorite cards in the history of ever!

ha!

isn't it awesome!? well, i am totally biased, because i'm in big, puffy heart love with anything rainbow! and those flowers in the circle were SO fun to stamp!!

i simply alternated stamping one of the flowers, and then stamping both to give it the staggared look. and then i used a circle on top and did some simple distress ink blending! sooo pretty! :)

for my 2nd card, i kept it a bit more clean and simple:

i actually colored in the images with copics and then fussy cut them out and attached them to the base. the reason? i'm the WORST (!!!) at staying inside the lines! lol!! And one layer cards scare me! ha!

once the flowers were attached, i did just a tiny bit of masking to elongate the stems to go above and below the flowers! then i outlined the flowers in a light, soft blue!

Newton's Nook June Release - Garden Starter + Garden Window Die Set

it's going to be a fun week!
Let's start with day 1 of Newton's Nook Designs June Release

today, the whole DT is showcasing the gorgeous, summer-y and floral Garden Starter + Garden Window Die Set!! oh, i just LOVE those little bouquets of flowers and that AWESOME die!! it's so versatile!!

you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on June 17th, right here!

my 1st card is bold, bright and totally me!

i used copics to color those beautiful flowers! and just added a little shading in each of the petals! it was simple coloring, but it did take a little time!

i fussy cut the flowers and then made a big bouquet with them all! the banner and word were die cut from the new die! i layered the word 4 times and then added a little glitter on top of it! so fun!

for my 2nd card, i did lots and lots of masking!

those daisies are so fun!!!

so, yes, lots of masking, and lots of stamping! but i LOVE how this looks!!

I used the oval shape from the die to create a focal area for the sentiment! i used Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks which i blended together and then spritzed with water! a few enamel dots finished it off! love!

i watercolored the image with Distress markers, and then added some dots with my white gel pen. I created the background by adding Navy and Sweet Mint Heidi Swapp Color Shines in a watercolor technique! so fun! i was going to a murky, depth look! ha!

i added some white polka dots with embossing paste and a stencil. and then finished the card with some strips of black on black cardstock - enter the off kilter element! :)

so that's my projectare you ready to play along?
