kraken dreams!

hello!!

today i have a card up on the Newton's Nook blog with the super fun kraken from the Message in a Bottle stamp set!

ha ha!
i just LOVE that kraken!!! it's so fun, and i have to be honest, it's just FUN to say kraken! lol!

i colored him in with purple copics (no, i'm not sick. no, there was no gun to my head...it just called for purple! i was as surprised to see it as you were! ha!) and the popped it up over that background!

for the background i colored some embossing paste with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and used a super cool wave stencil. LOOOOOVE those waves! then i used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add some watercoloring to the bottom of the card for the ocean floor.

my favorite part of the card is that i added the watercoloring to the card base itself! so fun!
so that's my card!
hop on over to the Newton's Nook blog to see what else fun is cooking there!
enjoy!

Stamping a Sweet Puzzle

Hello!
Today I have a fun and quick little project I made for my little preschooler Mann, up on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog!

I used lots of Sweet Stamp Shop sets, too! All you need is a premade puzzle (I bought mine from the clearance section of my local craft store, but you could always make your own, too!) and some of your favorite images!

It's easy as that - stamp, color, play! Woo-hoo! My little Mann really had a ball putting the puzzle together! he did it about 5 times in a row! Ha!

Thanks again for stopping by! And if you want to read about how to make this quick little project for someone you know, head on over to the Sweet Stamp Shop blog!
Enjoy!

Simon Says Stamptember + Newton's Nook Release!

eeeek!!
it's time to let the cat out of the bag...pun intended!
Newton's Nook Designs created a special stamp set for the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember Release!!! it's ADORABLE!!

i just LOVE the set!
it's so cute and just PERFECT Fall!

both of my cards were watercolored with my Inktense pencils! (i'm trying to convince myself to fall in love with them! ha! the pencils, not the images! i already LOVE the images!)

my first card is a thank you card!

i popped up that adorable little bunny with some foam tape against that fun night sky! i created the sky panel by blending Distress Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough). then I sprinkled on some water drops and even used some embossing paste and a star stencil! LOVE it!

i stamped the sentiment on the vertical going up - i don't usually do that, but i LOVE how it looks!

my second card is so FUN!

again, i used some embossing paste and a polka dot stencil for the background. then i combined the newton in the leaves image with the FUN sack of leaves! that naughty cat totally knocked down the leaves to jump in them! ha!

i used that AWESOME sentiment and then used a strip of bold b&w washi to add some contrast!

i LOVE the cards! and i'm BEYOND excited that Newton's Nook is now part of the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember release!!! yahoooooo!!

be sure to pick up your limited edition stamp set before they're sold out!
enjoy!

Sweet Stamp Shop September Release!

hello!!

earlier this week, Sweet Stamp Shop had another huge release! you can check out all of the new stamp sets here!

i made a few cards some of the sets, and i just LOVE them!
first off, let's share my favorite:

you guys - those flamingos - THEY'RE SO ADORABLE! ha ha!
Nod to Mod might be my new favorite set! i love the cacti, too! so cute!

i colored my flamingos in with copics. then popped them up onto that awesome background! i used the lightest blue Distress Ink that i have (Tumbled Glass), and a fun star stencil. then, i used a super awesome plus sign stencil and some embossing paste!

finally, i stitched on the 'hello'! LOVE!

next up is my other favorite (spoiler alert: all of the stamp sets are my favorite! ha!).

yes, Mermaid Shelfie is ADORABLE! ha!
i totally had to color her in like Ariel again...sorry! he! and those cute little sea creatures...?!

the background was created with dome Distress Ink in a watercolor-y way and i think it's PERFECT for an underwater scene!!

my final card is all about Christmas, and i'm READY to start making those Christmas cards!
Holiday Pup, cracks me up!!

i colored him as close to a schnauzer as i could, and then added that cute little holiday hat! ha ha!

for that panel, i used Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough, then sropped some water on top. once it was dry, i added a snow stencil over the whole card - because it's Christmas!

lastly, i stitched on the sentiment and across the top of the card! :)

so that's my take on this awesome release! be sure to grab your sets if you like what you see! :)
enjoy!

my first card uses teal pumpkins - because that's my FAVORITE color! ha!

i stamped the pumpkins in teals and navys and then die cut them out and arranged them in a neat little pile!

the background was sprayed with gold mist! i just LOVE gold with teals and navy! swoon!! so pretty!

for my 2nd card, i decided to go a little clean and simple, because really these pumpkins do all of the work for you!

i did a little bit of a rock and roll technique in two different orange distress inks (Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold). then i dropped a little bit of water on to add the water droplets!

the stem was stamped in Vintage Photo, but then i added a tiny bit of water to make that look watercolored. as well! i also added a few 'drops' in glossy accents, and then stamped the sentiment from Falling into Autumn!

lastly, i just stitching a straight line along the top with my sewing machine!

let the fun continue! it's day 2 of September release week with Newton's Nook Designs

today, the whole DT is showcasing the new, super awesome and totally personalize-able Touchdown Tails stamp set!  don't you just LOVE this set? it's so perfect right now with college and NFL football going on! i love that you can color the critters in any team colors that you like!
you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on September 25th, right here!

for my first card, i just HAD to use that super cute referee bull dog!! ha ha ha!!

isn't he SO cute?!
i watercolored him with Distress Makers, and popped him up over that faux football field background!
first i took some patterned paper and then added the thin white embossing paste stripes with a stencil. then i used some green watercolor to color in between the lines to really help them stand out!

i also used some black 'measuring tape' type washi on the sides - seriously, i'm totally loving how this card came out!

for my 2nd card, i created my own background with the cute little footballs!

first i stamped the footballs with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then i used the Distress Glaze on top of the footballs and added some loose green watercolor in between the footballs! love it!

Winston was watercolored with Distress Markers and popped him up on some vellum! I had to color the jersey in U of M colors - my husband went there, and my two little Menn are totally in love with U of M because Daddy is! ha!

my first card for this set uses that ADORABLE image of Newton stalking the coffee!! I love and just laugh when i see it!!

i colored the images with copics and then popped up the coffee cups for some added fun!

the sentiment was heat embossined, and i added some light distress ink blending to the tops and sides of the card, just add a little depth! So so so cute!!

my 2nd card is FUN, and totally my favorite!

again, i colored the image with copics. then i popped it up on some vellum and stamped the sentiment!

the background was created by literally using a cup, pressing it into my Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad, and then pressing down on my card front. once i placed the rings where i liked, i sprayed it with water and added some flicks of brown! LOOOOVE!!

to finish the card, i just used a snowflake stencil and some embossing paste! :)

Countdown to Create a Smile's September Release

woo-hoo!
it's release week over at the Create a Smile stamps blog

this release is AWESOME! there are 4 sets being released on Friday!! FOUR! eek!
i created a Christmas card today - i know, i know! it's SO early, but i made all my Christmas cards that i send, and they're all different - so it's nice to get a head start! :)

i did a LOT of distress inking on my card!

first i stamped that AWESOME little tag all of the card base to create my background, then i used the same ink color to add some shading and blending.

i paper pieced the packages all in different kraft papers that i had in my scrap bin (i have it sorted by color, so it was easy picking the pieces!!
i added some reindeer to one of the packages, and lots of distress around the edges to the rest!
i just LOVE that light blue and kraft together! :)

i sprinkled some water over the whole thing, because...well...distress inks! lol!
be sure to head over to the Create a Smile stamps blog to see Yoonsun's card...her card is BREATHTAKING!! wait until you see it! you can also see all 4 of the new sets there, too!

enjoy!
