slow down and enjoy your day!

hello there!
today i am sharing a card with a whole lotta purple! lol!
Newton's Nook Designs is sponsoring the current Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!

and look at that inspiration photo - hard to get around using pueple, i thought! ha!
and also - layers - fun! i love layers!

so i created this little ditty:

so fun! i LOVE that sloth from In Slow Motion! adorable, i tell you! i colored him up with copics, and then gave him a little party hat...because...well it was cute! lol!

i used a purple piece of patterned paper that i added tone-on-tone purple distress ink to, just to add a little extra something.
then i splattered some shine mist on to create the starry sky! poor little sloth slept through his birthday 'day'. ha!

i hope you find time to play along for your chance to win some Newton's Nook Designs money! ooo-la la!
enjoy!

balloon avalanche layout

hello again!
today i am (also!) up on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, doing sharing super easy and cute ways to use rub-ons on your projects! not to mention, creating your OWN rub ons with Sweet Stamp Shop stamps!!

I created my own Sweet Stamp Shop rub-ons with the Balloons stamp set (one of my favorite sets, if you were wondering!)! :)

So both of my little Menn have birthdays in August, so we celebrated their birthdays with a joint party, and I wanted to add some balloons on that date in my planner:

Next up, I wanted to use the AWESOME watercolored rub-ons on a layout of my little Mann's birthday balloon avalanche that he woke up to when he was 5! :) It was so much fun!

It was simple with the rub-ons, too! All I had to do was place the balloons in the position I wanted on the layout, and rub! Ha ha!! What was so awesome about this was, clearly, that background paper was watercolor, so I didn't have to ACTUALLY watercolor on the paper, bit I still get the look!

Water and paper don't usually mix, so water could have warped my paper.

I added some embellishments that matched the balloons and a fun little title and the page was complete! And I LOVE how it turned out! This would work with literally ANY Sweet Stamp Shop image!

Do you use rub-ons? What sorts of projects do you use them on?
Be sure to head on over to the Sweet Stamp Shop blog to see how I created the rub-ons!
enjoy!

wish big, little one!

Inky Paws Challenge #24 - Sketch

hello!!
today is kicking off a brand new Inky Paws Challenge over at the Newton's Nook Designs blog! this month, we're all about that sketch!

there's a lot you can do with that sketch! here's what i made:

FUN!
i used the Message in a Bottle dies to replicate the 'banner' shapes in the sketch! i colored the whale and fish images from Season's Greetings with copics!

the water was created by free-hand cutting some waves from a polka dotted vellum! once it was cut i just added a hint of color to the vellum by blending on some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink! LOVE that look!

i popped up the front panel over the card base, and stamped the actual bottle images from the Message in a Bottle stamp set to really define the bottles, so cute! love this non-traditional Christmas card!

i hope you play along too! you could win some Newton's Nook of your own!
enjoy!

Sweet Stamp Shop August Release!

hello hello!!

today is the Sweet Stamp Shop's August release!! SO exciting!! these stamp sets are just AWESOME!! i am in love!

i made a few cards with some of the new stamp sets in honor of this super fun day!
my first card is just hysterical, and all of the credit goes to the stamp set!!

ha ha ha!! LOVE it!
i colored the images from the Apples stamp set with copics and then adhered them to the vellum panel! love how that red pops over the background!

i stamped the candied apple image repeatedly onto soem white carstock with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. then i blended all around with Old Paper and Vintage Photo again! LOOOOOVE that warm brown feeling! and finally, the sentiment is popped up for just a bit of dimension!

my next Halloween card is more of the clean and simple nature!

i colored those ADORABLE little images from the AWESOME Fall into Christmas stamp set (one of my favorites of the new release!) with copics and then popped a few of them up for some interest!

the background is some white on white - i used the white texture paste with a striped stencil to create the background LOVE it! then i created the greeting by using phrases from Apples and Feeling Today. a few black stars finish off the card!

my last card for the release is Christmas! yay!!! i could make Christmas cards year round!

again, i used the images from Fall into Christmas (i mentioned that i LOVE that set, right?) and popped a few up for some dimension!
that reindeer...it's quote possibly my favorite image ever!!! it's SO cute!!

the background was created by first adding some white texture paste with a twinkling star stencil and then watercoloring with some Distress Inks (shocking, i know...). i used Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass. once it was dry, i also used the same colors and added a little blending around the images to really make the color vibrant!

the sentiment was created by heat embossing with Liquid Platinum greetings from both California Lovin and Planner Flags! such an unlikely pairing, but it works SO well together!!

so those are my cards for this release! thanks for stopping by!
be sure to grab them while you can, they go FAST! ha!
enjoy!

**this is my 2nd post of the day! to see my Freshly Made Sketches 200th challenge card, scroll down or click here!**

hello again!

today i have this super summery card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog!

i did some watercoloring with Distress Markers - fun! it's the perfect way to color those summery images from the Newton's Summer Vacation stamp set!

after i colored this image (love that rainbow blanket!!), i fussy cut it out and popped it up on the card front!
oh, and for the background, i used Distress Stains!! So fun! and a super easy 'water' background!

be sure to head over to the Newton's Nook Designs blog, too!
enjoy!

free hugs!

because who doesn't love free hugs?! lol!

today there is a new Freshly Made Sketches challenge up! and bonus - Newton's Nook Designs is the sponsor this time!
check out the sketch:

ok, so at first, i was totally stumped when i saw this! but then, i thought, i can do basically anything with this!
and then it was fun time!
ha!

i used the adorable shark from Shark Bites and that super fun sentiment! ha ha! it cracks me up!

i colored in the image with copics and then popped it up over an altered patterned paper  piece! i stamped those shark images in Evergreen Bough Distress ink and then added some shading along the sides. then i dropped some water on it to make the color run a little.

i stamped the waves and cut it out so that the shark fins could stick out on the card base! fun!

be sure to play along for your chance to win some Newton's Nook bucks!
enjoy!

without further ado, below is the card i chose on the left that Christine made, and the card i made on the right!

i don't even know where to begin! i LOVE the colors and how they pop! i LOVE that she used a stencil and cut it out and popped it up on that card!! GENIUS! i love the blues!

Lawnscaping Challenge #112 - Embossing

today is a brand new Lawnscaping Challenge! yay!! it's my favorite way to start a monday! it's the on;y acceptable way to start a monday, if you ask me!

this time, we're all about embossing!! awesome!
i created a card and did some watercoloring and distress ink blending on kraft!

i heat embossed all of the images with white embossing powder onto watercolor paper. i used Distress Markers to watercolor in the images and then fussy cut them out!

i just LOVE that hummingbird from Gleeful Gardens! it's SO cute!

on the kraft background, i masked off the top and used shabby shutters and mowed lawn distress inks to blend the 'grass' area. once that was complete, i masked off the grass area to create the sky with tumbled glass and peacock feathers! LOVE how it looks on the kraft cardstock! i don't use kraft nearly enough!

lastly i flicked on some water to the distress inked areas and then heat embossed the sentmient!

this week we're sponsored by lawn fawn! so get your card making on, and you could win a stamp set of your choice! :)

sharing a few sweet cards!

hello again!
today i just wanted to share a few cards i created with Sweet Stamp Shop stamps!

my first card is super, just plain FUN! :)

ha ha!
right?

i used three different stamp sets on this card! the avocados are from the Guac Love stamp set, and i just LOVE them! i colored them in with copics, and they really POP against that subtle wood grain pattern!

i made the sentiment with a combination of the Alpha Tabs and Outline Lower Alpha stamp sets! LOVE them!

next up is a sweet little ditty of a card!

i colored the cute cute cute cat image from the Dog & Cat stamp set  with some copics, along with that little ball of yarn! so cute!

the heart is from the Perfect Panda set! i popped almost all of the images on that background that i created with some Distress Inks and stamping!

the 'meow' greeting was stamped multiple times in a diagonal, and i LOVE how that looks!

my other card reminds me of summer!

i colored in all the images with copcis! the little girl image is from the Girl Power stamp set, and she holding that adorable ice cream cone from Little Cooler! on of my new favorite sets! i added glossy accents to the popsicle so it looked extra shiny and juicy! :)

i created the background by masking off part of my card and blending out distress inks (Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn for the greens, and Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers for the blues!) and then flicking on some water!

i really wanted to add that water color in orange to the banner...it reminded me of the icepop that she's holding melting!! so summer!

thanks again for stopping by!
enjoy!

yahoo!
the excitement of August release week with Newton's Nook Designs continues!

you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spreads, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on August 14th, right here!

for my first card, i wanted to add some color to the images, and i also wanted to heat emboss!

LOVE this! I wish i could get a better picture to show off the white on white texture...grr. i need photo lessons! ha!

anyway, on some white cardstock, i did lots of masking and Distress Ink blending! they created these awesome geometric types of patterns. then i stamped the images over and heat embossed in clear!

SOOOOO pretty!
it was just a little bit longer to create the card - i added some white waves with embossing paste and then popped up a few of the shells!

my 2nd card also uses color and heat embossing!

fun!
i stamped the images in white on lots of patterned papers. then i fussy cut them out, leaving a border so the color of the patterned papers could show.

then i placed them around the patterned paper that i sprayed with a navy mist! LOOOOVE how this turned out!
